[Bug 97723] Re: winbind-based hostnames broken in feisty

2008-05-06 Thread wolfger
I don't understand why the status on this was incomplete. The definition of
Incomplete is:
# If you have to ask the reporter questions, set the bug to Incomplete
# Ask the submitter to provide any necessary information in a comment, and make
sure you subscribe yourself to the bug report so you will get any updates to
the bug via e-mail.
# In the event that a bug has been in the Incomplete state for more than 4
weeks, meaning it has not received a response to a request for more
information, the bug status should be changed to Invalid

Since the status has been improperly set all this time, I won't go marking
invalid just yet, but the bug is over a year old, so:
Does this bug still exist?

[Bug 227322] Re: [openssh] [CVE-2008-1657] possibility to bypass global ForceCommand directive

2008-05-06 Thread Colin Watson
Already fixed in Hardy/Intrepid and backported to earlier releases.
Please look at the changelog as well as just the version number!

openssh (1:4.7p1-8) unstable; urgency=high

  * Fill in CVE identifier for security vulnerability fixed in 1:4.7p1-5.
  * Rename KeepAlive to TCPKeepAlive in sshd_config, cleaning up from old
configurations (LP: #211400).
  * Tweak scp's reporting of filenames in verbose mode to be a bit less
confusing with spaces (thanks, Nicolas Valcárcel; LP: #89945).
  * Backport from 4.9p1:
- Ignore ~/.ssh/rc if a sshd_config ForceCommand is specified (see
  http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/28531/info).
- Add no-user-rc authorized_keys option to disable execution of
  ~/.ssh/rc.
  * Backport from Simon Wilkinson's GSSAPI key exchange patch for 5.0p1:
- Add code to actually implement GSSAPIStrictAcceptorCheck, which had
somehow been omitted from a previous version of this patch (closes:
  #474246).

I believe this is already on the security team's list for earlier

[Bug 227344] [NEW] bind-dlz und ldap api

2008-05-06 Thread Daniel Paufler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bind9

I was running bind 9.4.1-P1-3 with DLZ and openldap 2.3.35-1 with ubuntu
7.10 (gutsy)

Now i updated to bind 9.4.2 and openldap 2.4.7. My previous config
stopped working with lookup query must specify a search base error.

It seems, that it caused by the ldap API change regarding % sign.

I emailed with the bind-dlz guys. They changed their configuration to
not use % but $. I applied the patch, dpkg-build the package again
and it is working. Can you please put the patch to your binary package
and give out e new version for hardy.

[Bug 227410] [NEW] Catalog Backup fails because .my.cnf is not read

2008-05-06 Thread Hanno Stock (hefe_bia)
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bacula

Actually this is the last point of the original report of bug #207527.
I am opening this as a new bug report, since the other issues of bug #207527
appear to be fixed.

When running the BackupCatalog job, I get the following error:

06-Mai 18:27 baculatestsrv-dir JobId 17: BeforeJob: run command /usr/bin/awk
-f /etc/bacula/scripts/make_catalog_backup_awk -v cat1=MyCatalog
/etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf

Access denied for user 'bacula'@'localhost' (using password: NO) when trying to
connect

It seems that .my.cnf is not read, since the command is not executed in
a login shell and HOME is not set.

I was able to get the backup running by specifying HOME in the mysqldump
command (see attached patch).

From /etc/passwd:

bacula:x:105:113:Bacula:/var/lib/bacula:/bin/false

But AFAIK running a command in the security context of a user does not
automatically set the home directory.

BTW: I have a fairly clean install of Hardy, since this is a VM
specifically set up for testing bacula before using it for production.

[Bug 162082] Re: PHP fastcgi with PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN doesn't kill children when parent is killed

2008-05-06 Thread Jakob Unterwurzacher
Last version of the kill-all-orphaned-phps workaround attached.

I recommend to run it hourly to catch php parents that die suddenly
AND (more important)
to add it in your /etc/logrotate.d/apache2 in postrotate after apache restart,
because this creates lots of orphaned processes most of the time.

** Changed in: php5 (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

[Bug 227267] Re: package slapd failed to install

2008-05-06 Thread Sven Zeisberg
I've tried to install a kolab server from the ubuntu repositories. the
kolab_bootstrap -b script broke at the point of starting the ldap
server. after some googeling for a hint on this, I decided to set up the
ldap first without kolab ... that's why reinstall

Could you try to purge the slapd package before installing ?

[Bug 227592] [NEW] openssh-server install does not create privilege separation user sshd

2008-05-06 Thread David Munro
Public bug reported:

When I installed the openssh-server package on 8.04, it did not create
the sshd privilege separation user, which causes the /etc/init.d/ssh
script to fail to start sshd at boot time.

The problem turns out to be in the openssh-server.postinst post install
script. This script looks for the presence of user sshd, and does not
run adduser if it already exists. However, I had installed NIS, and my
NIS server had an sshd account; therefore the postinst script did not
add a local sshd user. At reboot, the order of the scripts in
/etc/rc2.d is to first run the ssh script, then run the nis script.
Since nis has not started when ssh runs, there is no user sshd, and the
ssh script fails with a message like, Privilege separation user sshd
does not exist. At install time, however, the NIS server was running,
so sshd started (apparently the remote sshd account is good enough) and
no error was reported.

When I ran the adduser line in openssh-server.postinst by hand, the
problem at boot time goes away, and sshd starts correctly at the next
boot.

I believe the correct fix is to grep for the sshd user in /etc/passwd in
the postinst script, and run adduser to create a local user if it is not
found, rather than using getent to detect the presence of sshd.
(Apparently getent will find an NIS account, which you don't want.) It
makes no sense for the sshd user to be on a remote NIS server; it should
always be a local account.

** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
