[Bug 256920] Re: nagios2 won't remove/reinstall if /etc/nagios2/apache2.conf is deleted

2008-08-22 Thread Thierry Carrez
Great ! So the problem probably came from some unwanted /etc file
removals.

However, nagios2 could still be fixed to better support removal /
reinstall in the case /etc/nagios2/apache2.conf has been deleted
(gracefully ignore that rather than failing miserably).

Bug reproduction :
$ sudo apt-get install nagios2
$ sudo rm /etc/nagios2/apache2.conf
$ sudo apt-get remove nagios2-common

The problem probably lies in nagios2-common.prerm that could have a test
case for missing /etc/nagios2/apache2.conf

2008-08-22 Thread Scott Ritchie
Retagging as a samba bug. If it's failing during winbind configuration,
that's a (serious) fault in the winbind package, which comes from samba.

Try configuring the package from the terminal (sudo dpkg --configure
-a). Is there any output before the restart happens?

[Bug 235653] Re: [SRU] ACL covering all IPv4 addresses is broken in 2.2.1

2008-08-22 Thread Steve Langasek
Hi Chuck,

I have doubts whether this particular bug warrants an update. My
understanding from reading the patch is that the reason the acl fails to
work as intended is not because the sense of the acl is inverted, but
because the acl matches no addresses instead of all addresses.

So since denying appears to be the default, it seems that the only case
broken by this is giving all IP addresses access to nut. Is this ever
really a good idea? Or have I overlooked some other reason that this
makes sense?

If the only use case this breaks is something which is simply a bad
security policy, I don't see this as justifying pushing a new SRU on its
own and requiring people to re-download the package.

The bacula 2.2.8-5ubuntu7.2 version in the unapproved queue looks to
have a correct fix for this issue, but bug #227613 is still
verification-failed and no fix has been provided. Rejecting from the
queue; please provide a package that fixes both of these bugs at the
same time, or else roll back the changes for 227613 completely since we
shouldn't be including changes in SRUs that don't fix bugs.

I did only see the usual configuring winbind.. before the computer

[Bug 189168] Re: unable to view windows shares because of the default resolve order

2008-08-22 Thread Steve Melvin
I'd also like to add that this is not only a prolem with OPENDNS but any
DNS server that redirects bad requests. For example, my ISP is Charter
Communications and they redirect all bad lookups to their helpful
search page, so in essence all lookups are good. This confuses some
apps, like samba. So this is not just an OPENDNS issue, but could be an
issue for anyone who uses an ISP that redirects bad lookups.
