[Bug 249824] Re: [intrepid] IPv6 unusable

2008-08-26 Thread Bernhard Schmidt
This bug is still there with 1:9.5.0.dfsg.P2-1ubuntu1. Rebuilding the
source package on an IPv6 enabled box did not fix it.

In the buildlog at http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17069359
/buildlog_ubuntu-
intrepid-i386.bind9_1%3A9.5.0.dfsg.P2-1ubuntu1_FULLYBUILT.txt.gz you can
see

checking for sin6_scope_id in struct sockaddr_in6... yes
checking for in6_pktinfo... no -- disabling runtime ipv6 support

According to a bug filed with Gentoo this is a problem with glibc 2.8
(http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227333). There is a patch to
configure.in filed with this bug that fixes the problem
(http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=157025). Unfortunately it
requires rerunning autotools (debian/rules autofiles), which I did not
get to work. I probably don't have all the necessary tools installed.

Bug #257909 and #259740 are most likely duplicates of this.

I guess to test it you would compile and link a program against it.
 Here is a sample program:

 http://code.google.com/p/phc/source/browse/trunk/misc/old/tryout.c

Once the package is installed (in /usr/local), you should be able to
 compile it with:

 gcc -I/usr/local/include/php -I/usr/local/include/php/main
 -I/usr/local/include/php/TSRM -I/usr/local/include/php/Zend
 -L/usr/local/lib -Wl,-R/usr/local/lib -lphp5 tryout.c

I've tested this on Hardy, and it compiles fine. You may need to use
 /usr/include instead of /usr/local/include.

 Thanks,
 Paul

[Bug 242313] Re: TLS_CACERTDIR not supported in gnutls

2008-08-26 Thread Gary Wilson
I can confirm the cacertdir not implemented for gnutls warning
message. The same setup that worked for me on Gutsy no longer works on
Hardy.

I had only added the following option to my /etc/ldap/ldap.conf file:

TLS_CACERTDIR /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla

However, while this ticket might be valid as far as support for
TLS_CACERTDIR goes, it appears that the actual connection problems are a
different problem (see bug #257153). There, the user is using the
TLS_CACERT option, is not getting any gnutls warning, and is still
getting the same connection error.

Re: [Bug 235653] Re: [SRU] ACL covering all IPv4 addresses is broken in 2.2.1

2008-08-26 Thread Steve Langasek
Hi Charles,

Well, most sysadmins that I know, including the sysadmin that is me :),
prefer security in depth and don't want an either-or choice between
application-level and system-level ACLs.

Note also that newer versions of NUT are dropping ACLs in favor of
binding to interfaces (with a failsafe default of not binding to any
interfaces automatically). I believe the rationale was that by binding
to a specific interface, there is no chance for someone to exploit any
potential holes in the NUT ACL code.

That's not a meaningful solution for users who want to allow remote access
from certain addresses and only have one interface.

Understood, but at the very least, application-level ACLs are
probably better handled by something like libwrap, with a common
syntax, and a more thoroughly-inspected codebase. We don't want to
lull users into thinking that the NUT ACLs are a complete replacement

This is starting to stray from the original issue in this bug

history on the NUT developer list, and CC you?

[Bug 261698] Re: Please add UFW profile integration with postfix

2008-08-26 Thread Scott Kitterman
Port 587 is far more important than 465, but a bigger question is that
port opening is really a function of Postfix config. If smtps is not
configured, then there's no reason to open 465 (that's actually
officially assigned to another protocol).

[Bug 261698] Re: Please add UFW profile integration with postfix

2008-08-26 Thread nxvl
That's why that profile is not loaded by default, just added for enabling it by
hand when user want's to, the default profile is Postfix, which allows port 25,
because that's the default opened port in an out-of-the-box instalation.
Port number for TLS was taken from /usr/share/doc/postfix/TLS_README.gz i
wasn't sure about what port number to use and that file told it was 465.
Updating debdiff with 587 instead of 465.
