[Bug 273425] [NEW] It's better to have a sub-directory in /var/www for default web files
You have been subscribed to a public bug: It's better to have a sub-directory in /var/www for default web files. Because /var/www is a directory for web site. For example, I want create two websites for two different users? Or I want to limit access to my own dir? Or ... I can do all of these now, but its really more structural, to have a directory in the /var/www for default web site. So then if I install a web based application (eg. phpMyAdmin) it creates its link to this default web site directory. A VERY annoying bug indeed. About once every 1-3 weeks, I have to log into my server to start dhcp3-server when some desktop's lease expires and I realize it never got started or quit silently. I added '/etc/init.d/dhcp3-server restart' to my gateway setup script, but that drastically slows the execution of the script which is also responsible for manually resetting the PPPoE connection. -- dhcp3 fails to start during boot-time but starts seamlessly invoking the init-script manually https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/61903 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 273486] [NEW] Current eBox packages in intrepid don't work at all
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Wouter Stomp (wouterstomp): Binary package hint: ebox Current eBox packages in Intrepid, both base framework and modules, which have been automatically taken from Hardy, won't work. There have been a few changes in Intrepid that make necessary to upload a new version. Amongst these changes: - The way the authentication is managed, libapache-authcookie-perl doesn't exist anymore in Intrepid. However, the new eBox package (0.12.x) doesn't need it as it uses its own authentication code based in that library. Current version 0.11.99 still depends on it. - The openLDAP configuration backend has changed. The new upstream version solves this by using this new backend when initialasing slapd. However, the current version in Intrepid uses the old backend so it won't work at all. - Dansguardian, the new version shipped with Intrepid has a few changes in its configuration files. Again, current version in Intrepid won't work but new upstream version will. These new packages for Intrepid can be found in [0]: From my point of view there are two options: - Ask for a FF Exception after reviewing the packages. Although I don't know if we are too late in the release process. - Remove the eBox packages from the archive, as the current ones are totally broken due to the new changes. The latter option is a pity as we have been telling users again and again to use eBox. But, well, that's life. Not a bug. User doesn't know how sudo works. Hoping dictionary.com's translator can work for this. The password to enter is your normal password that you use to login. The applications in the Administration section require it. It is a security model that keeps bad software from installing because it cannot be installed unless you explicitly give permission. Also, anything that changes the overall system will require the password to keep attackers from doing damage.
