[Bug 286828] Re: CIFS share broken after upgrade from 8.04 - 8.10

2008-11-05 Thread Alexey Mentat
To clearify the problem:

After upgrading 8.04 -- 8.10, file writes via CIFS have been broken.
CIFS normally reads or creates files, but it fails to write into existing file.

To reproduce the problem: Try open in midnight commander or in
leafpad any file via mounted cifs, make tiny changes and try to save.
You'll got the write error !

(sorry for double post)

[Bug 294148] [NEW] move_uploaded_file does not set right permissions (ignores umask)

2008-11-05 Thread Hark
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5

After calling move_uploaded_file a file should get permissions according
to the set umask. When /tmp is on the same partition as the file's
destination this doesn't happen, the file gets mode 600 making it
unreadable by Apache.

I think this bug was introduced in an upgrade a few weeks maybe months
ago.

[Bug 283852] Re: tomcat6 does not include tomcat-dbcp.jar

2008-11-05 Thread Vincent
Hi,

I confirm this bug.

I had to add the missing jar tomcat-dbcp.jar manually copied from another
tomcat 6.
After adding it was successfully loading datasource settings.
And my webapp is fully working.

To solve the problem waiting for a fix, just get the tomcat-dbcp.jar
from another tomcat 6 and copy it under /usr/share/tomcat6/lib.

[Bug 294277] [NEW] Tomcat 6 missing directory Catalina in /etc/tomcat6 - so impossible to deploy webapp

2008-11-05 Thread Vincent
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomcat6

Hi,

On ubuntu 8.10, the conf directory for tomcat6 is located in /etc/tomcat6, and
this directory is not writable for tomcat6 user, which one tomcat6 process is
executed under.
Tomcat 6 version is 6.0.18-0ubuntu3

However, if you try to deploy a webapp with a META-INF/context.xml you can't
get it working because when you put a webapp to tomcat to have it autodeployed,
tomcat will copy the META-INF/context.xml picked up from the war file to
[tomcat-home]/conf/Catalina/localhost/webappname.xml
Here Catalina and localhost depend on your service name and virtual host
name.
[tomcat-home]/conf/ is /etc/tomcat6 on the file system.

But due to the fact that the /etc/tomcat6 is not tomcat6 user writable,
tomcat can't create subdirectories Catalina/localhost/webappname.xml
so your webapp can't have its context setted and it won't start access
the database you setted in a datasource in the context.xml file.

I solved the problem creating a directory named Catalina (take care about the
case) under /etc/tomcat6, chowned it to tomcat6:tomcat6 and restarting tomcat.
After restarting, it created the subdirectories listed above.

I think this directory must be available at the installation of tomcat6.

This took me an afternoon to discover it and drove me a bit cray.

Sorry for this awful engish - I'm french. That means all.

[Bug 281569] Re: package samba-common 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2008-11-05 Thread Stéphane Charette
Similar thing -- prompted for changes in smb.conf. The side-by-side
display of changes was useless since it doesn't use a monospace font.
When I chose the 3-way merge, the thing borked. The same text in my
upgrade terminal window.

This is during the Installing the upgrades portion. The progress bar
shows pretty close to 100%. Just below it is the text Installed
brltty-x11

The entire window is disabled/insensitive, so I cannot copy-paste the
tex in the terminal. But here is what I see:

samba-common
smbclient
ubuntu-desktop
smbfs
samba

As jean-Baptiste Lallement asked someone else, I'll attach a sanitized
version of my /var/log/daemon.log file. (I say sanitized because I'm
going to grep -v all references to openvpn, which spits out too many
details for my liking into this file.)

[CIFS] fix saving of resume key before CIFSFindNext

We recently fixed the cifs readdir code so that it saves the resume key
before calling CIFSFindNext. Unfortunately, this assumes that we have
just done a CIFSFindFirst (or FindNext) and have resume info to save.
This isn't necessarily the case. Fix the code to save resume info if we
had to reinitiate the search, and after a FindNext.

This fixes connectathon basic test6 against NetApp filers.

commit 0752f1522a9120f731232919f7ad904e9e22b8ce
Author: Steve French [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Date: Tue Oct 7 20:03:33 2008 +

[CIFS] make sure we have the right resume info before calling
CIFSFindNext

When we do a seekdir() or equivalent, we usually end up doing a
FindFirst call and then call FindNext until we get to the offset that we
want. The problem is that when we call FindNext, the code usually
doesn't have the proper info (mostly, the filename of the entry from the
last search) to resume the search.

Add a last_entry field to the cifs_search_info that points to the last
entry in the search. We calculate this pointer by using the
LastNameOffset field from the search parms that are returned. We then
use that info to do a cifs_save_resume_key before we call CIFSFindNext.

This patch allows CIFS to reliably pass the telldir connectathon
test.

The issue is defiantly a client issue. I've tested rolling my kernel
back to 2.6.24-19 from 2.6.27-7 and everything works fine.

Could you point me to the pair of fixes to cifs in 2.6.27?

 Thanks!

[Bug 294528] [NEW] installing getlive crashed on wizard gui when pressing cancel

2008-11-05 Thread AFD
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: postfix

I installed getlive through the ubuntu 8.10 package manager and it began
installing fine.

Once the install had got to roughly 50% it popped up with a gui wizard
for config but I couldn't be sure which option to go for so used the
cancel button in order to follow the walkthrough I'd found for this app
online.

The package manager installer then crashed (after cancelling the 2nd
time the pop up appeared) and I continued with the walkthrough :
http://www.simonives.info/blog/2008/october/how_check_your_hotmail_or_windows_live_account_ubuntu_with_evolution

Unfortunately this walkthrough also stumped me when it comes to the end
and he mentions Evolution using the getlive scripts The folder/file
that he determines as being 'FetchedMail' is not there as either a
folder or a file and after trying to create either option neither
satisfied Evolution.

Shame - if ubuntu's default mail client could access hotmail out of the
box I know a lot of people who would switch!
