[Bug 354430] Re: samba mount does not work at boot time
Thanks for the additional info. It's kind of expected that samba mounts at boot time and NetworkManager-defined networking (which goes up when the Gnome session opens) do not play too well together... However it should have worked without any issue when networking was defined in /etc/network/interfaces. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- samba mount does not work at boot time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354430 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I now tested to put back the information into /etc/network/interfaces (and /etc/resolv.conf) and removed the connections in NetworkManager. RE: [Bug 355091] Re: package mysql-server-5.0 5.0.67-0ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: /etc/mysql/conf.d/old_passwords.cnf: No such file or directory
Hi Thanks for the mail. The directory did not exist, when I installed mySQL. Probably the problem appeared because I had tried installing mySQL earlier and then had deinstalled it again. Some config files must have stayed on my system, so when trying to reinstall and configure mySQL these old config files caused the installation to fail. I manually generated the directory /etc/mysql/conf.d/ and the file old_passwords.cnf (empty file). Then I again tried installing mySQL, it worked. Then I reconfigured mySQL (sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0). After restarting Apache2 mySQL worked properly. Hope this helps! [Bug 356851] [NEW] Sharing cups disables entire system with segmentation faults
Public bug reported: Second time I encountered this bug, last time had to completely reinstall the system. Bug is described here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1033190 Basically, I shared a printer via the cups browser interface, it restarted, and since then, everything with login is segfaulting. Now I'm making a backup and then trying the workaround described in the ubuntu-thread: got it, hit 'esc' during boot, fired up a recovery console, apt-get remove libpam-smbpass and it's all good. Also not sure if this is a bug of cups or libpam-smbpass, but not being able to boot into your system is a pretty big deal imho. This is my first bug report, so tell me if you need more info. [Bug 355800] Re: *** WARNING: ucf was run from a maintainer script that uses debconf, but the script did not pass --debconf-ok to ucf.
Andreas, I've linked this bug to a corresponding Debian bug, where the changelog entry fixing it says: * Call ucf with --debconf-ok in nagios3-common.postrm. Depend on ucf = for this feature (Closes: #513905, #515289) (I think the changelog entry is wrong, since he actually changed the postinst.) This is more correct than your change in two ways: firstly, it only adds ucf --debconf-ok in the postinst, not the postrm - the postrm doesn't source the debconf confmodule so shouldn't use --debconf-ok; secondly, it sets an appropriate versioned dependency on ucf. Please could you rework your change to be a backport of the Debian change (which you can extract from http://patches.ubuntu.com/by- release/atomic/debian/n/nagios3/nagios3_3.0.6-4.patch), and explicitly mark it as such in the changelog so that developers merging this package in future know that it's safe to discard conflicts in this area in favour of the Debian side? [Bug 354243] Re: Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached.
Whoa - stop! Comment 9 does not describe Bug 354243 directly, but rather, a related situation. That's what all those words I typed into Comment 9 mean. I had hoped the the additional information would be helpful. I'm sorry it wasn't. I opened Bug 354243 specifically because of the confusion evident in Bug 209520. But the gist of both bugs is this: There is something wrong with Nautilus and/or its dependencies - recent versions of Nautilus are not robust in browsing network shares. I intended, in Bug 354243, to offer a reproducible demonstration of this failure. Comments 1 and 4 outline that demonstration, but again: The network in Bug 354243 is a vanilla router; a vanilla computer; an Iomega MDHD500-N network hard drive, running firmware K1.08 L1.0 W1.5; and an Ubuntu 9.04 beta desktop i386 CD, running in LIVE SESSION. (Sorry to shout, but last is important: live session eliminates user error in configuration, and, more important, live session is supposed to demonstrate Ubuntu's capabilities with a wide variety of hardware.) And I will anticipate the objection that this is an Iomega problem: Windows finds the Iomega NAS; smbclient finds it; smb4k even mounts it - it's not trying to hide itself. The Iomega NAS is just one among many black-box embedded SAMBA servers that a robust, desktop-ready file manager needs to be able to browse. it's not so complicate to have a clear description specify: - the version of ubuntu you are using - the actions you are doing - what happens and what else you would expect in this case extra informations: - what server type do you try to contact - can you contact it using samba command line commands -- Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354243 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I'm trying to make a sense of all the comments there is IOMEGA-36AE the drive you try to connect? is the issue $ smbclient -L 192.168.1.66 Enter stephen's password: Domain=[UTOPIA_BEACH] OS=[R] Server=[R] Server requested LANMAN password (share-level security) but 'client lanman auth' is disabled tree connect failed: SUCCESS - 0 which shows that command line tools can't connect to it either? if that's the case the issue is clear, the server expect lanman authentification which is disabled nowadays in samba by default for security reasons, I will let the samba guys comment on how to best process from there to get a working configuration if that's the issue -- Nautilus fails to browse any share on network to which Iomega Home Network Hard Drive (MDHD500-N, firmware K108.W15) is attached. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354243 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 235560] Re: Connect to smb server by name doesn't work, but by IP address does
So I can reproduce the bug. Now I am sure, it has nothing related with NAS box sleep mode. The first connection went good as always. The desktop icon works. After couple of minutes (10-15), I try to reconnect. 1. The first error message appears (pic1 - Sorry for foreign language), it says: Error: No data available. Choose another browser please and try again. 2. After couple of retries (always via desktop icon), the second error msg. appears. The file is of an unknown type. After couple of minutes and retries, still no luck to connect via desktop icon. 3. Then I try to connect via nautilus sidebar icon. The connection went fine as expected. ** Attachment added: pic1.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24969613/pic1.png -- Connect to smb server by name doesn't work, but by IP address does https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235560 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 235560] Re: Connect to smb server by name doesn't work, but by IP address does
Confirming this bug on Jaunty Beta. The first connection is always successfull, the shared folder icon appears on desktop and on nautilus sidebar too. The error message pops up when I retry to connect the shared folder couple of minutes (10-15) after. This happens with retrying to connect via desktop icon only. Connection via icon on nautilus sidebar works always as expected. The shared folder is on NAS box, which often get into sleep mode. Maybe it is related. I think there could be a bit more timeout for trying to connect with some notification or countdown, instead of Error message. I will try to reproduce the error msg. and share what I'll find out. -- Connect to smb server by name doesn't work, but by IP address does https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235560 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 329173] Re: Impossible to rename file to other case on samba mounted volume
Confirmed on intrepid, here are the details requested by Thierry Carrez: Samba versions: libsmbclient 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4 samba install ok installed libwbclient0 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4 samba install ok installed samba-common 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4 samba install ok installed smbclient 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4 samba install ok installed smbfs 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4 samba install ok installed The rename error happens when attempting to rename through nautilus by only changing the case of one of the letters of the file name.
