Thanks for the reproducer Sylvain. I could now reproduce the segfault

Could you please try the updated packages in my PPA:

If they solve the segfaults for you, I'll push out some updates.

[Bug 396472] Re: Please merge squid (2.7.STABLE6-2)(main) from debian unstable(main)

2009-08-17 Thread James Westby
Hi,

The new version of the package depends on squid-langpack, which needs and
MIR to go in to main to make squid installable from main. As the merger that
bought in the change would you write the MIR? You should speak to the MIR team,
but I imagine this won't require a full MIR.

Thanks,

[Bug 414865] Re: mount.cifs does not handle umlauts in usernames correctly

2009-08-17 Thread Joachim Breitner
Passing -o user=$(echo Töst|iconv -t850) to mount.cifs instead of just
user=Töst gives a different error message:
mount error 6 = No such device or address
instead of

[Bug 414986] Re: open-iscsi causes FTBFS for anything that Build-Depends on it

2009-08-17 Thread Jamie Strandboge
My last change didn't fix anything because the 'ln' didn't cause the
script to fail (the initscript does not use the recommended '#!/bin/sh
-e' which through me.

The problem is that in pbuilder and presumably the buildd's, /sysfs is
mounted. This allows open-iscsi to continue trying to start itself, and
we end up with:

start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --exec $DAEMON
RETVAL=$?

start-stop-daemon ends up returning non-zero, and at the end of the script we
have:
exit $RETVAL

One way to fix this would be to use a /etc/default/open-iscsi file that
is read by the initscript. (eg 'START_DEVICES=no' is the default, and
the script only continues if 'START_DEVICES=yes'). I do not know the
ramifications of that for the installer, etc, so I am not going to make
that change.

I'm starting to think that it might be a good idea to duplicate this bug
and assign it to APT as a 100 Paper Cut bug, because that error message
(2) doesn't tell the user anything useful. That number (2) should be
replaced with a proper explanation of what's preventing apt-get from
upgrading the packages.

[Bug 194140] Re: Dependency cycle prevents upgrade of libsasl2-2

2009-08-17 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Seems that the only way to succeed at upgrading these packages is to add
the following line to /etc/apt/apt.conf

APT::Immediate-Configure false;

Two observations:

Seems that the logic for this APT option was recently reverted, if
Google results for immediate-configure is any indication. Could it be
that the fix actually broke the default behavior?
