Not replacing deleted config file /etc/nagios3/conf.d/host-gateway_nagios3.cfg
include file /etc/nagios3/apache2.conf does not exist!

This looks very much as the result of /etc/nagios3 having been manually
deleted. Purge nagios3-common and nagios3. After that they should be
fine to install again.

( apt-get remove --purge nagios3-common nagios3 )

I can reproduce this bug in MySQL 5.0.24a-9ubuntu2.4 (edgy)
It appears to have been fixed in MySQL 5.0.38-0ubuntu1 (feisty)

Do note that even affected MySQL versions can detect/handle ERROR 1436.
It seems as if the option thread_stack has to be within a certain range
for this bug to manifest itself.

[Bug 90681] Re: resolv.conf overwritten using VPN/PPP etc...

2009-08-23 Thread cadourian
Hello

I've been having similar problems and looking for a long time for a solution.
Finally seems to have solved my problem.
I do not understand how different installed packages decide to modify
/etc/resolv.conf and sometimes without consideration to each other. In my case,
I use NetworkManager to manage my connections.

Simply put, the solution was to remove the package resolvconf and use
networkmanager for wired, wireless and vpn.

If you are using vpn connections, configure it through network manager (nm) and
not through some other utility. There's a vpn for networkManager you need to
install first.
If you don't use the nm-vpn like I was, for a few minutes you have
/etc/resolv.conf set up properly with the vpn dns , search and domain settings
but sooner or later nm will overwrite your files and your vpn will be broken.
So, using vpnc from the command line or other vpn tools won't do.

I hope this helps others.

As a suggestion for Ubuntu packagers, when installing networkManager,
resolvconf should be one of those conflicting packages. Of course,
there's probably a better solution.

Cheers

Chahé

[Bug 407428] Re: sshd zombie processes and strange behavior after karmic upgrade

2009-08-23 Thread Michael Helmling
I am experiencing more strange behavior: When I start aptitude directly
with the ssh command, i.e. something like

ssh -t r...@machine.box aptitude -V dist-upgrade

then I always get kicked out after the packages are downloaded, or
more precise, I assume directly before dpkg is called. I only have the
output in german:

Muss 0B/264MB an Archiven herunterladen. Nach dem Entpacken werden 4571kB frei
werden.
Wollen Sie fortsetzen? [Y/n/?]
Schreibe erweiterte Statusinformationen... Fertig
Connection to m*.de closed.

Sometimes I found zombie dpkg processes after that happened, but not
always. If I start an interactive ssh session and then run aptitude, it
always works.

[Bug 417889] [NEW] redirect-gateway not working for openvpn 2.1_rc11

2009-08-23 Thread Daniel J Birkinshaw
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openvpn

Following the instructions here: http://openvpn.net/index.php/open-
source/documentation/howto.html#redirect

I am attempting to route all web traffic from my netbook through my home
network. The netbook connects to the internet using a USB 3G device.

I am testing the setup by going to www.whatismyip.com. If it were
working I would expect my IP to be reported as the one assigned to my
home by my ISP. Instead it is the one assigned to my netbook by my
mobile internet provider. Therefore traffic is not being routed through
the VPN.

I will attach client and server configs.

in the conf.d/ should've Just Worked.

A fix has NOT been released. Please, re-open this bug!

System: Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty), kernel 2.6.28-15-generic
Affected software: OpenOffice.org 3.0.1, gedit

To duplicate:

j...@ubuntu-desktop:~$ sudo umount /media/DNS-323
j...@ubuntu-desktop:~$ sudo mount -a

Open bills_090813.ods
Save As bills_090823 (note that this is a different filename) = error:

Error saving the document bills_090813:

General input/output error.
OK (note that the filename in the error is the originally-opened name)
File bills_090823.ods gets created, size 0 bytes

Save As bills_090823
The file already exists. Overwrite?
Yes

Error saving the document bills_090813:
Object not accessible.
The object cannot be accessed
due to insufficient user rights.
OK (note that the filename in the error is the originally-opened name)

Workaround:
j...@ubuntu-desktop:~$ sudo gedit /etc/fstab
# Network Drive via Samba
//192.168.0.200/Volume_1 /media/DNS-323 cifs rw,nounix,auto,password= 0 0
#//192.168.0.200/Volume_1 /media/DNS-323 cifs rw,auto,password= 0 0

j...@ubuntu-desktop:~$ sudo umount /media/DNS-323
j...@ubuntu-desktop:~$ sudo mount -a

Delete bills_090823.ods (the 0 byte file from earlier failed attempt)
Open bills_090813.ods
Save As bills_090823 = no errors, file bills_090823.ods gets created, size
 contents correct

This workaround is inappropriate for use, because with the nounix
mounting option, file modified date/time gets forgotten when
copying/moving files. Please actually release a fix.

2009-08-23 Thread Steve French
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 286828 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286828

If nodfs mount option works around the problem then this is a
duplicate issue, as suggested, and long since addressed. Remember,
there is a clear SERVER bug which has been fixed for quite a while, but
only clients which support BOTH unix extensions and dfs would see it
(which is why the two suggested workarounds - nodfs or nounix on
mount could work around it).

Remember that the user who had permission issues could have a different
problem (e.g. uids that don't match on clients and server - perhaps they
should override the default uid and gid and/or turn off perm checking on
the client (noperm) mount option.
