[Bug 374589] Re: Samba fails to start at boot when not connected to network (and specific interfaces are configured)
This has been set to wishlist since the reporter explicitely adds interfaces = eth0 eth1 to his smb.conf, so in a way he tells samba that it should not start if eth0/eth1 isn't up. My understanding (and my testing) showed that without this line the reporter added, samba is starting alright. [Bug 444352] Re: DB deadlock on reboot prevents UEC from working, temporarily
So to summarize: - To trigger the bug, reboot your cluster and try running euca-describe-availability-zones verbose once eucalyptus is ready. It fails, and makes DEADLOCK errors appear in the logs. - After a few tries, eucalyptus does a hard reset on connections and autofixes itself. - This occurs for me every time, the first time I start eucalyptus after system startup. - Stopping and restarting eucalyptus on a running system does not trigger the error. It only happens at first eucalyptus startup after a boot. - This does not depend on the boot order, since I can reproduce by starting up manually after boot is fully complete. It does not depend on static / DHCP networking either, I can reproduce in both cases. - It does not depend on the way eucalyptus is stopped, since I reproduce it by manually stopping eucalyptus. It seems like a condition that is only found after a fresh boot is triggering the issue. Something that starting and stopping eucalyptus once will fix. I tried cleaning up /var/run/eucalyptus and /tmp/ and reproduce, but that doesn't come from there. I also tried cleaning up the 169.254.169.254/32 address, but that doesn't trigger it either. ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu Karmic) Assignee: Thierry Carrez (ttx) = (unassigned) -- DB deadlock on reboot prevents UEC from working, temporarily https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444352 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 324193] Re: libpam-ldap won't set non-crypt passwords
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Changed in: libpam-ldap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: libpam-ldap (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- libpam-ldap won't set non-crypt passwords https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324193 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libpam-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Do you think it needs to support .img.tar.gz ? right now, the image file is distributed in 2 ways: - inside a multi-file archive base.tar.gz: base.img base-kernel-flavor base-initrd-flavor - inside a single-file archive base.img.tar.gz Do you think we need to support resizing from that archive? OpenVPN installed from standard repositories (server --- Debian stable amd64, client --- Ubuntu Karmic i386 beta). VPN private network is chosen to be 10.7.0.0/24. Conf files created according to our needs, but are pretty standard, IMO, except for MSS fix maybe. Not sure what else as steps to create setup. Please let me know if you need anything in particular. Looking at the route.c I can see that there was quite some reshuffling in if/else logic for route add/del comparing 2.1~rc11 (jaunty) and 2.1~rc19 (karmic beta). -- redirect-gateway does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445695 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openvpn in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 445714] Re: [FFE] Image Store Proxy must handle compressed images
Martin, Please rest assured I understand very well all of the consequences of using one approach or the other, and opt to use one or the other depending on specific needs. In fact, if you look through the code you'll see that in some cases subprocess was used. In the case at hand I could very well have avoided it, but the fact that: 1) it was safe; 2) it was a one liner; 3) It is rarely executed; and 4) I had very little time to implement the system Guided me towards using this approach. Also note that it's easy for people to get Subprocess wrong. We should probably implement a wrapper which implements the equivalent of getstatusoutput() in a safe way. In your example above, you actually got it pretty much right. One detail I'd change on it is that you pipe the error output and the standard output into different file descriptors. This means that if the command run outputs error messages interleaved with normal output, the normal output and the error output will be disjoint, and so will be hard to interpret in a log or in the stdout. The proper way would be to use the option stderr=subprocess.STDOUT, so that the error can be observed at the correct places. Either way, I agree with you, it's a good practice to use subprocess. Let's have more of it. -- [FFE] Image Store Proxy must handle compressed images https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445714 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to image-store-proxy in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
