[Bug 334474] Re: Disk quotas do not work in ext4
I have changed my debian server to Ubuntu-server (jaunty). It would be importance for me to work the qouta, because there are many users on my server. Updated my qouta 3.16x to 3.17-3 and then 3.17-5 but still not work correctly. I tried it with webmin and with edquota, I set up qouta for a test user with the following settings: Block soft limit 1 (10MB), hard limit 2 (20MB), File soft limit 5 and hard limit 10 Grace time: 10 minutes. The file limit works fine: if user reach the hard limit, ubuntu don't allow to create new file or directory. (mesg :Disk qouta exceeded) But if block hard limit exceeded (without reaching file limits) the users can create new file, but cannot create new directory (in his home direcotry.) [Bug 482313] [NEW] dhclient-script ignores option host-name from DHCP-server
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dhcp-client I have a set of machines running Ubuntu 9.10. These computers should receive their hostnames via DHCP from a DHCP server. For each host, the option host-name is set on the DHCP server and the lease file in /var/lib/dhcp3 shows me, that the hostname was received. However, the host name won't be set, even if /etc/hostname is deleted. It works this way with Debian. I've figured out, that it can't work, since in /sbin/dhclient-script the following code is used to set the hostname: set_hostname() { local current_hostname=$(hostname) if [ -z $current_hostname -o $current_hostname = (none) ]; then hostname $new_host_name fi } If I delete /etc/hostname or keep it empty, Ubuntu sets the hostname automatically to localhost - therefore the upper script will fail. It now works, after changing it to: if [ -z $current_hostname -o $current_hostname = localhost ]; then Probably the way, how Ubuntu deals with a missing /etc/hostname differs from the way how Debian does... ** Affects: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- dhclient-script ignores option host-name from DHCP-server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 90388] Re: hostname supplied by dhcp server is not used
Another approach might be to set /etc/hostname to the value from DHCP server, and leave the current hostname alone. That would set the host name to correct value at next boot, without any clash with netowork manager behaviour or a running X [ and hopefully the name would not change between reboots :) ] As 9.10 enables parallel initscripts with upstart, having the network up before gdm(or kdm) can be hard, you may need to change ordering of initscripts, or it may be undesirable (startup seems slower). I cannot comment exactly about the situation as we are still at 8.04 LTS. simply change the line hostname $new_host_name; TO if [[ -n $new_host_name ]]; then echo $new_host_name /etc/hostname ; fi -- hostname supplied by dhcp server is not used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/90388 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
