[Bug 476332] Re: kernel crash (Oops) with kvm

2009-11-28 Thread pingou67
We had 5 vm on this host :
- 1 debian lenny 64 bits (virtio is used for the network and the block device
with qcow2 format and 256Mo RAM is allocated)
- 2 ubuntu jaunty 64bits (virtio is used for the network and the block device
with qcow2 format and 512Mo RAM is allocated)
- 1 redhat 5 64 bits (virtio is used for the network and the block device with
qcow2 format and 12Go RAM is allocated)
- 1 windows 2003 32 bits (virtio is used for the network and IDE for the block
device with qcow2 format and 512Mo RAM is allocated)

The host is a karmic koala with 24Go of physical RAM.

We have isolated each vm on a different host (with same config and same
harware) last week to find the culprit. We are waiting the Oops...

[Bug 458637] Re: samba client unable to access Windows 7 shares

2009-11-28 Thread nikolay botev
I have the same problem as Lvcoyote and Compist.

Running Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10 both with latest updates...

I have tried all combinations of Password-protected sharing off/on,
40/56 bit encryption on/off etc for the windows box. Nothing works. I am
not able to browse, I am not able to login to the windows box, there is
no way for me to connect from Ubuntu to Windows via samba.

[Bug 448674] Re: VM is suspended after live migrate in Karmic

2009-11-28 Thread Dmitry Ljautov
What guest os you are running?

I've just roll back my host OS's from karmic to jaunty. And found that
migration passed ok with windows xp/2003 guests and fails for ubuntu and
centos guests (guests hangs after migration). I'll try to reproduce it
with the same guests on karmic later...

[Bug 458352] Re: Karmic - Corrupted Recovery Menu

2009-11-28 Thread TMaster
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 456806 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456806

I am affected by the same problem. It occurs only when booting to
recovery mode - regular booting works fine. Still, it's very concerning
to realize that once a problem occurs in my main setup, I may not be
able to fix it easily.

Some additional details that may help:
- I consciously don' t use swap. Relying on swap space to avoid bugs is not an
acceptable solution.
- I have multiple NTFS volumes for my Windows XP setup. Only my XP C: drive is
(apparently) set to mount automatically when booting Kubuntu normally. My NTFS
data volume needs to be mounted automatically from within Dolphin. Besides
this, I think I just use a 10GB ext3 volume for my Kubuntu setup.
- System specs:
Pentium IV Northwood 2.8GHz with HyperThreading
2.5GB RAM
WD Caviar 40GB
Seagate Barracuda 160GB
Kubuntu 9.10 (Reasonably up-to-date, I will now install some recently released
patches.)
KDE 4.3.2
Windows XP Home SP3

To obtain more information, please reply to this thread.

2009-11-28 Thread TMaster
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 456806 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456806

I'm sorry for the double post, just thought I'd mention two more things.

- I don't think this could be a duplicate of bug #458060, as that fix is
supposed to already have been released.
If I broke some rules in replying to a bug marked as a dupe, I apologize. I am
not yet familiar with Launchpad etiquette.

- Other than tzdata, no updates were available. I don't think timezones
are related to this problem, so I'm still affected. I am now using an
up-to-date setup.

[Bug 489597] [NEW] PMI Schema in slapd package can't be added to database

2009-11-28 Thread rdratlos
Public bug reported:

The PMI scheme that is provided by Ubuntu karmic makes reference to syntax
definitions, e.g.:
olcLdapSyntaxes: {2}( 1.3.6.1.4.1.4203.666.11.10.2.6 DESC 'X.509 PMI role
syntax' ...)

which are not recognized by openldap. The utility splatest can convert
the PMI scheme into a LDIF file but when trying to add the ldif content
to the LDAP database we get an error. The same applies when adding the
ldif file with slaptest to slapd.d configuration directory and then
checking the database using slapcat. As an example the out put of the
ldapadd command is shown:

$ ldapadd -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -f pmi.ldif

adding new entry cn={14}pmi,cn=schema,cn=config

[Bug 489585] Re: Incorrectly messaging Starting/Stopping NTP server in ifup/ifdown scripts

2009-11-28 Thread Arseny Klimovsky
When I want to run in recovery mode, NTP server messages spoil the menu,
so that it's difficult to use it anymore.

To reproduce the bug some interface should bring up not immediately
after boot, after some time. In my case it is PPP-connection. Photo is
attached.

Since today I do not have access any more to my NAS.
Reading this and other forum entries and trying some described solutions did
not help to fix my problem.

Situation:
  System : Ubuntu 9.10
  NAS : WD MyBook Word Edition II

/etc/fstab:
  //192.168.1.100/public /media/MyBookNAS1 cifs
nounix,noserverino,guest,rw,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0
  # smbfs mount also does not work
  #//192.168.1.100/public   /media/MyBookNAS1  smbfs
user,uid=pie,uid=1000,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0

when mounting (mount -a) I get the following error:
  mount error(12): Cannot allocate memory
  Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

I also tried with smbfs (as it worked bevor) but without any success.

Please help me, I'm new in the Ubuntu-World and I need some beginner
help :-)

[Bug 319656] Re: nmap script engine error

2009-11-28 Thread Dexter72
Hello I am new to Linux and nmap and I am getting the same bug as Whoop
at the top of the page. I have read through the posts on this page and
see the proposed patches but I am not sure how to apply the patches.
They are in text format and I am not sure where to apply them. I am
using Ubuntu client/desktop. I could use some instructions on how to
apply the necessary patch as I need to learn how to use nmap.

A bit confused.

Thanks for your report.

This looks like a corrupted archive.

Could you please open a terminal and run the following commands:
$ cd /tmp
$ sudo apt-get clean
$ sudo aptitude download python-libvirt
$ sudo dpkg --unpack ./python-libvirt*.deb
$ sudo dpkg --configure python-libvirt

You should thebe able to remove the package. Tell us if it helps and
paste the output if not.

[Bug 489619] [NEW] Our attempts to find your SCHEMA for attributetypes have FAILED

2009-11-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: phpldapadmin slapd

After an upgrade from 9.04 Server to 9.10 Server, after login into
phpldapadmin (with a normal user and also with the admin user) we got
the error message :

Our attempts to find your SCHEMA for attributetypes have FAILED

Like it is mentioned on the phpldapadmin's FAQ we have to allow
anonymous acess to the schemas.

We can do this by :

1. Add the ACL rule in the frontendDB
olcDatabase={-1}frontend,cn=config :

We can edit the file olcDatabase={-1}frontend.ldif located in
/etc/ldap/slapd.d/cn=config and add the line olcAccess: {1}to
dn.base=cn=subschema by * read just after
olcAccess: {0}to * by dn.exact=cn=localroot,cn=config manage by * break

2. Restart openldap : sudo /etc/init.d/slapd restart

Note that after the upgrade I got the version 2.4.18-0ubuntu1 of
OpenLDAP server.

I think it's a bug because :
1. before the upgrade everthing was working fine and
2. we have to manualy add the rule (it's not so easy)
