[Bug 502607] [NEW] Cannot Browse to Windows Shared Printer In Lucid

2010-01-03 Thread sparker256
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release:10.04

Method:
* Open System - Administration - Printing from the gnome panel
* Select New
* Network Printer - Windows Printer via SAMBA
* Browse
* The workgroup MSHOME is shown. The machine sharing the printer is part of
MSHOME
* Trying to Open the MSHOME sub-tree I am greeted with a Authentication
Dialog box.

When I do the same thing on my Karmic installation it will browse to my
printer.

If I put the same path as in Karmic for the printer in the SMB Printer
box the printer works.

2010-01-03 Thread ubername
Pretty sure this is related to:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/490201

It's not just a printer issue: you can not see any of the machines in
the workgroup.

FWIW I don't think it is just a Nautilus issue, as the same behaviour is
exhibited in gnome-commander. smbclient has been suggested as a
potential avenue to explore.

[Bug 502762] [NEW] [karmic] winbind installation causes apt to fail

2010-01-03 Thread quixote
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: winbind

winbind 3.4.0-3ubuntu5.1 installs and works, but nothing involving apt
works after it's installed. Update manager doesn't find updates,
running sudo apt-get install [any package] fails with a message about
something wicked happened. Reloading the repositories won't connect
with any servers, and gives the same wicked message.

As soon as winbind is uninstalled, no reboot necessary, apt works fine
again.

(I tried to use apport for this, as per instructions, but couldn't get
it to report anything.)

[Bug 502518] Re: Lost connection to MySQL server during query

2010-01-03 Thread Beach Ball
Additionally, this bug doesn't affect just the ability to import large
data sets. It also affects the ability to perform ALTER functions. I
received the same error when trying to rename a column on a table
containing several million rows.
