[Bug 527875] Re: libvirt0 unable to operate due to missing essential files

2010-02-28 Thread IAN DELANEY
libvirt is running in dom0.

ide...@karmic64:~$ uname -a
 Linux karmic64 2.6.31-xen-r10-AMD-64 #19 SMP Sun Feb 28 21:28:33 WST 2010
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Host. libvirt is intended for a host environment. Wouldn't be inclined to
install it into a guest.
It's all very well me confirming myself. Can someone confirm???

[Bug 191251] Re: [needs-packaging] php5-embed

2010-02-28 Thread Pierre Bourdon
I'm currently working on a project which exports a scripting API to ~8
different languages, including PHP.

I can't distribute it correctly to Debian and Ubuntu users as it
requires the PHP embed SAPI which is not provided by any packages. I do
not like PHP either, but my users asked for PHP scripting support.

Currently, deploying my project requires a custom PHP package. So I'm
+1000 with Paul on this issue.

[Bug 529530] [NEW] autofs hangs

2010-02-28 Thread Knirp
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autofs

Hi,

After not using automounted directories for a while, autofs seem to
loose track of its mountpoints.

This is what happens:

mag...@htpc:~$ ls /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies
ls: cannot access /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies: No such file or
directory

mag...@htpc:~$ ls /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies/
ls: cannot access /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies: No such file or
directory

mag...@htpc:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/autofs restart
Stopping automounter: done.
Starting automounter: done.

mag...@htpc:~$ ls /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies
ls: cannot access /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies: No such file or
directory

mag...@htpc:~$ ls /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies/
ls: cannot access /var/lib/mythtv/videos/remote/hmovies: No such file or
directory

It seems to be no way to get it to work again - other than rebooting the entire
box.
After rebooting all automounts are accessible again. Also when using these
automounts frequently it will
keep working.

mag...@htpc:~$ ls -l /var/lib/mythtv/videos|grep remote
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root0 2010-02-28 17:35 remote

I try to restart and unmount, but somehow autofs is dead.

Also, manually mounting the same cifs share with mount works fine.

ok, you're going to hate me for this, I know it. As if I've not input enough.
I did do a separate install of karmic,
and I reproduced this state. I installed a 64 version.

I installed, prepared the kernel for karmic. Unless I missed it, Ubuntu
didn't provide a xen kernel for karmic. I provided my own, and it's run
lenny 64, karmic 32, now karmic 64, gentoo 32 and gentoo 64. It may not
be perfect. Anyway, having booted into xen.

Those elusive sockets libvirt-sock libvirt-sock-ro are there, in an
environment absent of xen.

Yes well, I fear this may lead nowhere if you can't reproduce. What

[Bug 522482] Re: Domain Members can not join to Samba DC (ubuntu 9.10).

2010-02-28 Thread Rosa Ferrada
I installed samba 3.4.5 and i work fine, finally. I needed to delete the
files /var/lib/samba/ tdb, ldb and var/run/samba/* and /var/cache/samba/

Then do net rpc getsid and make sure the sid that i am getting is the
same that i got on ldap (because i migrate ldap and asmaba to a new
server).

So i can say solved.

[Bug 529008] Re: Should emulate /proc/cpuinfo

2010-02-28 Thread Loïc Minier
NB: qemu in machine emulation mode doesn't have this problem obviously,
since an emulated kernel is returning the /proc/cpuinfo for the virtual
hardware it's running on.

Is there a way to tag qemu-kvm bugs related to qemu syscall versus
machine emulation?

[Bug 529008] Re: Should emulate /proc/cpuinfo

2010-02-28 Thread Loïc Minier
This is about qemu-arm as in the syscall emulation version of qemu;
/proc/cpuinfo is simply the host's /proc/cpuinfo, but when one emulates
e.g. an ARM program which reads /proc/cpuinfo to find out on which
architecture it's running (or which features the CPU has), it wont find
the relevant info.

qemu in syscall emulation should intercept open()s on /proc/cpuinfo and
return contents matching the emulated CPU.

[Bug 529008] Re: Should emulate /proc/cpuinfo

2010-02-28 Thread Oliver Grawert
thats exactly the opposite of what we need when emulating a foreign
architecture :)
in case of running qemu-user you want the ability to emulate the foreign
architecture in a generic way.

i.e. we build a static flavour of qemu-user for armel in ubuntu that integrates
with the binfmt handler of the kernel to allow you run armel chroots on x86
systems.
certain packages or build systems parse /proc/cpuinfo to find out the arch they
are running on and its capabilities.

i think loic wasnt specific enough in his initial description, if we run
qemu-system there is indeed a generic cpu, what we would like is the
opportunity to emulate this same cpu in qemu-user through i.e. some kind
of overlay for the cpuinfo file if proc is mounted in a chroot.
