Installing nscd does not fully fix the problem as it leaves su unable to su from an ldap user to another ldap user and a local user unable to su to an ldap user. Error is setgid: Operation not permitted libpam-ldapd/libnss-ldapd does not support all the features that libpam- ldap/libnss-ldap does. [Bug 571933] [NEW] dhclient3 hangs on shutdown
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have been unable to find a reason why but Lucid is having issues shutdown down on all systems I have upgraded. When the reboot command is called almost all processes are killed, including my active ssh sessions. I can immediately log back in via ssh and I find the system hung on `dhclient3 -r -pf /var/run/dhclient.eth0.pid -lf /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth0.leases eth0` with only a few more processes running, automount, rpc.statd, portmap. The only thing that will allow the system to finish shutting down is killing dhclient3, killing any other process doesn't change the state of the hang. I have tested the networking scripts outside of shutdown and they are all functioning properly. Running strace on the dhclient3 PID leads to nothing stopping immediately on a read. I upgraded my laptop earlier this week, some days before the final Lucid release. libvirt-bin is installed though I don't actively use it (only accasionaly for testing purposes, but atm no vm's are installed), though libvirt has been installed for a long time earlier. Problem only now arises after this upgrade to Lucid and after i left it runnig for longer than around 8 hours. Yesterday I booted my laptop in the morning and left it running all night. This morning I came to my desk and found my laptop unresponsive, having to wait a huge time beofre being able to unlock my screen and seeing what was happening. That's unfortunate, I didn't realize libpam-ldapd was so incomplete. You can still use nssov for full pam support. Your best option for an immediate fix is still the libgcrypt patch I posted. Without that basically all Karmic and Lucid nss-ldap+SSL installations are dead in the water. As a longer term step, the design of libgcrypt and gnutls needs revisiting. [Bug 523812] Re: Quagga reports crash on Karmic
Hi Chuck, I can confirm that quagga 0.99.16 on amd64 appears to stop the errors being generated with the only notable one shown below, which should be innocuous. The daemons start up and bgpd appears to connect to without any problems over vtysh. I haven't been able to test the loading of bgpd routes as I don't have a suitable lab environment handy but if you suspect that the errors generated in the previous version are unlikely to affect that element directly then we can put this to put as a 'fixed in future release'. If Allow_weak_crypto = true is making things work better with Windows, something is broken somewhere else to cause this. Without this parameter in krb5.conf the auth against the ADS to access services like http goes wrong and asks fora login/pass instead of using the kerberos tickets, claiming unsupported enctype. I think we have fairly high confidence in that code. I'm sure too we can have confidence in the MIT code, no problem with that. One called ubuntu.xml that refers to an image file created in a folder called ubuntu-kvm (i.e. a default, as you suspected), the other called vm1.xml, which is what I specified as my hostname. I'm also curious that that file is in the libvirt folder instead of bundled with the VM image since it contains a hard-coded path to the drive image which I can see breaking very easily. The run.sh file generated by vmbuilder also contains runtime config info for the VM, but only uses a relative path, so why is it duplicated like this? [Bug 572411] [NEW] /etc/init.d/sshd should check for root
Public bug reported: I ran into a problem of using ssh on a none standard port (with simular errors as reported here http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-978191.html). I found out that the problem was that i forgot to add sudo when running /etc/init.d/ssh restart. If you bind to a restricted port (like 22) this will give you an error message from the sshd proccess stating that it is not able to bind. However if you bind to a unrestricted port (like 1234), you will not get an error message at all, a ssh process will start, however it will answer nicely, however it will disconnect at some point in the authication sequence because it cannot read the sshd key files in /etc/, since clearly they are restricted to root. FWIW, pool.ntp.org does geolocation nowadays, so it's not necessary to use the regional zones. [Bug 572764] [NEW] libvirt-bin does not read /etc/defaults/libvirt-bin on startup
Public bug reported: When starting up libvirt-bin on lucid it is not reading and applying the libvirtd_opts to the starting libvirtd This causes libvirt not to be able to be communicated with via tls. it is hard coded to start with the -d to make it a daemon but can not be started to listen If more information is necessary please ask. I have upgraded to lucid on four host and have this problem on all four. This is a lucid 64 bit install and upgrade. Completed a clean install to see if the upgrade process was the problem, it is not the cause of this issue. This can be closed I have found that it has been moved to the /etc/init /libvirt-bin.conf file instead of the /etc/default/libvirt-bin file These old file should have been cleaned up or a modification in them pointing to the new location would have been nice.
