[Bug 575839] Re: VMs built with vm-builder won't run

2010-05-06 Thread Marcus Bointon
Here's the debug log. I see a lot of debug-level notices about missing
methods, but it doesn't seem to be leading to any actual errors, like
this:

[Bug 575917] [NEW] Cannot setup remote printers to Windows XP from Ubuntu 10.04

2010-05-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: system-config-printer

In pre-10.04 LTS versions of Ubuntu you could navigate to an Windows XP machine
with a shared Printer and start using it.
In Ubuntu 10.04 if you navigate to a Windows XP machine you just get the print$
share with a load of files under it. It used to show you an icon of the
available printers.

Also using the System|Admin|Printing CUPS thing you cannot scan the
network and find a printer.

Something isn't working properly? I don't know - sorry.

Is it Samba or CUPS?

[Bug 512110] Re: gssd regression, Program lacks support for encryption type

2010-05-06 Thread J. Bruce Fields
the NFS folks have have multiple years to implement something stronger than
DES. Unlike with
OpenAFS, the protocol has been quite clear; it's purely a matter of writing
code.

Yeah, the code is finally merged for 2.6.35, but that took longer than
it should. (If you know anyone interested in funding NFS security
work)

[Bug 576401] [NEW] Ownership of device node should not be changed when using --raw

2010-05-06 Thread Simon Huerlimann
Public bug reported:

If vmbuilder is called with a --raw partition, it will change the
ownership of the device to the calling user. While this might be proper
for images, it doesn't make sense for device nodes. Especially as they
will be reset after a reboot.

This is with Lucid version of vmbuilder.

** Affects: vm-builder (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2010-05-06 Thread Sam Hartman
 J == J Bruce Fields bfie...@fieldses.org writes:

J We're adding an API to krb5 to fix this for OpenAFS. Because of
J the way the API is constructed, it's very difficult for GSSD to

J Do you have a pointer to the details?

krb5_error_code KRB5_CALLCONV
krb5_allow_weak_crypto(krb5_context context, krb5_boolean enable);

The problem of course being the need for a krb5 context.

[Bug 576501] [NEW] vmbuilder doesn't recognize --ec2 flag

2010-05-06 Thread Miguel Landaeta
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release:10.04

python-vm-builder-ec2:
  Installed: 0.12.3-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.12.3-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.12.3-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://us-east-1.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Hi,

I can't generate EC2 images with vmbuilder. I'm using a command like
this:

sudo vmbuilder xen ubuntu --suite=lucid --ec2 \
--ec2-cert=.ec2/cert-.pem \
--ec2-key=.ec2/pk-.pem \
--ec2-access-key=WHATEVER \
--ec2-secret-key=WHATEVER \
--ec2-user=424242424242 --ec2-bucket=anyrandombucket --ec2-prefix=test \
--ec2-version='first' \
--firstboot=/usr/share/doc/python-vm-builder-ec2/examples/ec2-firstboot.sh \
--part=/usr/share/doc/python-vm-builder-ec2/examples/ec2-i386-part-file.txt \
--debug

Actually, I was following this howto:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EC2Vmbuilder

When I run vmbuilder with those flags, I just get this message:

Usage: vmbuilder hypervisor distro [options]

vmbuilder: error: no such option: --ec2

So, I can not build images for Amazon EC2.

I inspected /usr/share/pyshared/VMBuilder/plugins/ec2/__init__.py and I found
at the last line of that file this:

#register_plugin(EC2)

I uncommented that line and it didn't work.
Also I tried using register_hypervisor_plugin(EC2), but it didn't work.

If I'm missing something obvious here, just let me know.

In fact, what I'm trying to do is just build an EC2 image like the ones
described in
http://uec-images.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid/release/

It would be nice to know how were generated the Ubuntu official images available
in Amazon EC2.

Regards,

[Bug 522509] Re: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot

2010-05-06 Thread Darik Horn
I got this bug with tftpd-hpa after an upgrade to Lucid. The solution
for me was to add `sleep 10s` to the script stanza in the /etc/init
/tftpd-hpa file.

Running `initctl restart tftpd-hpa` properly starts in.tftpd if it fails
during system startup, so it follows that there could be a race.

Upstart doesn't log anything during the failure.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 559896 ***

Host kernel: Linux begallew1 2.6.32-21-server #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16
09:17:34 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Guest OS: Solaris 10 and Ubuntu 10.04.

The Solaris VM ran fine under karmic. Since doing a do-release-upgrade
on the host, all VMs (Solaris 10 and a freshly built 10.004) hang after
the Grub loading stage 2 message.

Booting from CD images works just fine.

My host doesn't have hardware support for virtualization, so I believe
this is unrelated to 559896.

[Bug 522509] Re: [FFE] tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot

2010-05-06 Thread Darik Horn
BTW, I'm running tftp-hpa 5.0-11ubuntu2, which is current for Lucid.

This bug seems to depend on the order of network interface plumbing, and
probably expresses more frequently if one interface is configured by
DHCP or is otherwise slow. My guess is that this bug does not express
on computers with one ethernet interface.

Attached is a /etc/init/tftpd-hpa variant that reliably starts in.tftpd
on my computer. It likely works because the default binding is 0.0.0.0
and the loopback interface is quickly available.

Consider reopening this ticket.
