[Bug 426813] Re: snmpd dies after requests with snmpwalk

2010-07-10 Thread Motin
Such a shame! Trying to set up Zenoss monitoring and couldn't understand
why the snmp deamon would stop responding after a couple of minutes
after deamon restart...

Running Hardy LTS because I thought it was stable enough to be included
in a data center / under monitoring.

No workaround or fix for Hardy still?

This bug also affects me

It would be easily solved if CUPS has converted to upstart.

Although not noted in this bug report, it may be fixed for hardy. I
hadn't enabled hardy-updates and now when using the latest packages, the
service has been running for 2 hours without shutting down.

[Bug 578930] Re: Lucid qemu-kvm: ksmd default config is CPU hog

2010-07-10 Thread MNLipp
I don't think Won't Fix is appropriate. If you look at at
kernel/Documentation/vm/ksm.txt you find that the values for
pages_to_scan and sleep_millisecs are documentated as chosen for
demonstration purposes.

So upstream obviously does not consider these values appropriate for
normal operation. Therefore I think ksm should either be distributed as
disabled or with a less aggressive configuration.

Re: [Bug 573975] Re: pxe image fails to boot: Forbidden directory

2010-07-10 Thread Tim Wallace
Hi Alkis--

I installed from the desktop CD, not the alternate, and tftpd set up for
/srv. I don't know what the contract is between the various Ubuntu
services like tftp and the many (Ubuntu and custom) applications that
might use them. I assumed that it would be the responsibility of the
LTSP packages to verify the configuration of any services such as tftp
that they need and re-configure if necessary. Hence I assumed it was a
bug in LTSP. Similarly, I don't know if compiz is supposed to function
with a wide range of remote clients of possibly limited hardware. So
I'd also file that one under LTSP, myself. Sound...it's working pretty
well on my desktops. Haven't looked into the ltsp client problem yet!

So it's not that I don't try to file separate bug reports...it's just
not always easy to figure out what package is at fault! :)

As far as I know, this bug consists of three separate bugs, one in
tftpd-hpa (==when installing from the alternate CD tftpd-hpa uses /srv

one in compiz, and a sound problem.

So I'm marking it invalid for LTSP and I'm putting tftp-hpa in the
 affects list.

Tim please file separate bug reports for any bugs you see, it makes it
easier for people to handle them in launchpad.

[Bug 539460] Re: Hardy images fail to build with 0.12.2-0ubuntu3

Looked at 0.12.4-0ubuntu0.1 in the SRU queue, and the diff looks pretty
reasonable. ACK from SRU for the patch, though it's unclear how exactly
we plan on the verification procedure being carried out.

[Bug 604129] [NEW] Mailman's python path should include dist-packages

2010-07-10 Thread F.-A. Bourbonnais
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mailman

Mailman doesn't include /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages in the
PYTHONPATH. So if we have extensions that load python module installed
by apt or maybe easyinstall, those modules can't be imported.

We discovered this bug after an upgrade from 8.04LTS to 10.04LTS.

File to be modified:
/usr/lib/mailman/scripts/path.py
/usr/lib/mailman/bin/path.py
/usr/lib/mailman/cron/path.py
