[Bug 634839] Re: package postfix 2.7.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Hi firebird, thanks for taking the time to report this as a bug and help us make Ubuntu better. This one is very confusing. Since all of this runs as root, there should have been no permission denied on file access. Did you have /etc mounted readonly, or maybe some hardening on the system, like immutable files on /etc, that might have layered on top of the normal permissions? Marking Incomplete, firebird, please respond to the above at your earliest convenience so I can reopen the bug. Thanks! ** Changed in: postfix (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- package postfix 2.7.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/634839 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to postfix in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 635537] Re: package clamav-base 0.96.1+dfsg-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
This is not a bug in the clamav package. Some other package has locked the user related files. See Bug #432964 as it has an extended discussion on the topic. You can remove the lock files as described there to resolve the immediate issue, but it would be best to try and find the original source of these stale locks. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: clamav i'm reporting a bug ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: clamav-base 0.96.1+dfsg-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-24.42-generic 2.6.32.15+drm33.5 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-24-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Sep 10 19:29:15 2010 ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala - Release i386 (20091028.5) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: clamav Title: package clamav-base 0.96.1+dfsg-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 + + Setting up clamav-base (0.96.1 + dfsg-0ubuntu0.10.04.1) ... useradd: + unable to lock / etc / passwd; try again later. adduser: `/ usr / sbin / + useradd-d / var / lib / clamav-g clamav-s / bin / false-u 114 clamav + 'returned error code 1. ** Package changed: clamav (Ubuntu) = ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New = Incomplete -- package clamav-base 0.96.1+dfsg-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/635537 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to clamav in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
