[Bug 661599] [NEW] lucid: dnsmasq isn't available on the server cd

2010-10-16 Thread Uli.Heller
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dnsmasq

I tried to install dnsmasq on an environment without internet access. I
used the ubuntu-10.04.1-server-i386.iso for installing the server.
Afterwards, I tried to install dnsmasq from the cd.

* there is a package dnsmasq-base on the cd
* there is no package dnsmasq on the cd

The start skripts and config files are missing if you'll install
dnsmasq-base without dnsmasq. To me, it looks like dnsmasq-base is
part of main, whereas dnsmasq is part of universe. Pretty
confusing...

Anyway: Thanks for your work, lucid rules :)

2010-10-16 Thread Jörg BUCHMANN
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 603192 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/603192

Hello Dave,

I am using ubuntu from the very beginning and have already cleared the
browser cache and have even tried with chromium but nothing changes. If
I just type http://localhost I'll get a white page and if I type
http://localhost/index.php I have the proposal to download the page.

Just for information I am on maverick for amd64.

Kind regards,

@Jörg, I have previously seen situations where the browser/client caches
the PHP source. Can i suggest you try clearing your browser cache,
and/or trying from a different computer?

[Bug 580319] Re: dhcp3-server launches before upstart brings all interface, thus failing to start

2010-10-16 Thread KBios
Please note that simply making an upstart config file starting on
started networking will NOT work, as that signal is emitted before
bridges are brought up. The problem may be solved by integrating upstart
conversion with Ian McMichael solution, and making dhcp3 start when net-
device-up has been emitted for the interfaces specified in
/etc/default/dhcp3-server.

[Bug 216847] Re: sshd will not start at boot if ListenAddress is set, because network interface is not yet up

2010-10-16 Thread KBios
Adding random sleeps is usually not the best possible solution, as the
required delay varies between systems (for example, when using a network
bridge). Maybe depending on net-device-up would be better.

[Bug 595116] Re: ssl error reading the headers

2010-10-16 Thread tomg7...@yahoo.com
Confirmed the fix - we no longer see any errors saying request failed:
error reading the headers - and all the web pages work as expected. I
searched the internet for weeks looking for that message, and failed,
until I added ubuntu to the search - and found this thread - this was a
huge fix for us - thank you.

For anyone looking to fix the same issue, here are the steps I used:

echo deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-proposed restricted
main multiverse universe /etc/apt/sources.list

cat /etc/apt/preferences
Package: *
Pin: release a=lucid-security
Pin-Priority: 990

Package: *
Pin: release a=lucid-updates
Pin-Priority: 900

Package: *
Pin: release a=lucid-proposed
Pin-Priority: 400

(control-D to end)

Then
aptitude install apache2/lucid-proposed

Don't pick the first solution, but instead pick the following one:

Upgrade the following packages:
apache2-mpm-worker [2.2.14-5ubuntu8.2 (lucid-updates, lucid-security, now) -
2.2.14-5ubuntu8.3 (lucid-proposed)]
apache2-threaded-dev [2.2.14-5ubuntu8.2 (lucid-updates, lucid-security, now) -
2.2.14-5ubuntu8.3 (lucid-proposed)]
apache2.2-bin [2.2.14-5ubuntu8.2 (lucid-updates, lucid-security, now) -
2.2.14-5ubuntu8.3 (lucid-proposed)]
apache2.2-common [2.2.14-5ubuntu8.2 (lucid-updates, lucid-security, now) -
2.2.14-5ubuntu8.3 (lucid-proposed)]

Score is 53

Then the install will show:

The following packages will be upgraded:
  apache2 apache2-mpm-worker apache2-threaded-dev apache2.2-bin apache2.2-common

Now be sure you have the right stuff:

r...@ubuntu:/etc/apt# dpkg -l | grep apach
ii apache2 2.2.14-5ubuntu8.3
  Apache HTTP Server metapackage
ii apache2-mpm-worker 2.2.14-5ubuntu8.3
