[Bug 452323] Re: kvm disabled in bios (was: Unable to start EUC instances - no supported architecture for os type 'hvm')
I am having the same issue, and after several hours of research spread across several days, I've come to this bug. I agree with mohanv in that it should not have let me setup the node if it won't work with UEC. If kvm requires hardware supported virtual machines hvm, (as indicated here: http://open.eucalyptus.com/forum/problem-node-registration), then I would like to request that the node installation process either: A) Prevents you from installing and gives you an explanation (you hardware is not compatible: hvm required for kvm) OR B) The node installation asks if you would like to use xen. -- kvm disabled in bios (was: Unable to start EUC instances - no supported architecture for os type 'hvm') https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Try this that has been working for me when I added a name (in /etc/hosts host's file) to the IP used by the guess: $ sudo kill -HUP `pidof dnsmasq` Howerver I get a different (related trouble): custom host definition is not honor with my configuration (even after rebooting the host). dnsmasq give a adress from the dhcp range to my VM. Ok in fact I founded why this was not working. I deleted and recreated my VM but there still was an entry corresponding to the old one in /var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/default.hostsfile. [Bug 668310] [NEW] Corruption on mdbs with multiple clients
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba Ubuntu 8.04 / Samba 3.028a when sharing a Microsoft Access mdb file for read AND write access to at least 2 clients on different PCs your mdb may get corrupted (in my case it always does in a few days or weeks). It took me months to figure this out but now I finally have a clear test case which fails in a few seconds every time it is performed against samba/ubuntu when on the other hand it never fails on smb/windows. My test case involves repeatedly calling a part of a complex Microsoft Access front-end application that simulates intensive user read/write activity against an mdb back-end which is placed either on an Ubuntu Server or on a Windows 2003 server (actually running on a VM within that Ubuntu Server). If it's necessary I can share that application (you'll need two windows clients to run it). Executing the application from two clients in a specific order[2] results in the two clients getting an Access error[1]. The exact same test never fails if I'm sharing the back-end mdb on a Windows 2003 server. Haven't yet tested on newer versions of Linux. _ [1] The two clients are creating records with an auto-number field which is supposed to be incrementing by one for every new record. At the point of failure the auto-number field is 100 but client A thinks it's 90 and tries to create a record with id 91 and client B thinks it's 95 and tries to create a record with id 96 (and of course both attempts produce an error). [2] The order is this: a) start the application on client-A (the app begins rapid and continuous reading/modifying/creating records on more that one tables) b) start the same application on client-B c) quit the application from client-B d) restart it ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: corruption mdb -- Corruption on mdbs with multiple clients https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668310 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 667269] Re: winbind crashes
I am also having this exact same problem. The only diff is that it does not take a long period of time for us to fix. We can simply service winbind restart and the problem is fixed with in seconds. This has happened twice just this week, and has been happening about once per week since we started using Ubuntu. We were previously on a FreeBSD system that was not using AD for authentication. I have looked in the log.winbind and in the winbind.log nothing of much help is found there. [Bug 668368] [NEW] Default [homes] share template uses incorrect %S macro.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba The default smb.conf suggests a rather unhelpful default for the 'valid users' option in the [homes] section. It's commented out by default, but uncommenting the template leads to some unexpected behavior. (See https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7766 for some more background; that's a related problem which exists upstream.) The suggestion is to use %S as a parameter (valid users = %S); back around 2005, this expanded to the username, meaning that this setting enforced that users could only log into their own home share, as described. Now, however, it expands to the current service name, which is very unlikely to match the username. The configuration incorrectly states that %S expands to the username, which is no longer true. Using the default configuration leads to confusing failures; the proper setting here is to have valid users = %U as the default, since %U expands to the name of the current user, according to the smb.conf(5) manpage. This is present in samba 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.2 on Lucid, at least. It was, according to debian/changelog, added in 3.0.22-1ubuntu3, and is still present in debian/smb.conf in the current version, 2:3.5.4~dfsg- 1ubuntu8, in Maverick. The attached patch against debian/smb.conf from the version in Maverick fixes the issue. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Default [homes] share template uses incorrect %S macro. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668368 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 656727] Re: Samba PDC breaks after recent update
I've now fixed my issue, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't caused by the upgrade. I think this was caused by the fact that I'd used self- compiled samba packages using samba.org sources (the bump was to fix Win7 issues). It appears that samba.org uses files out of /etc/samba, but the ubuntu packaged version looks in /var/lib/samba; these would have existed from the previous install and so contained out of date information. The fix was simply to move the files from /etc/samba to /var/lib/samba so my issue isn't the same as reported above -- sorry for the noise. -- Samba PDC breaks after recent update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/656727 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
