[Bug 659854] Re: Nautilus 2.32.0: Copy to SMB
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 393012 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393012 This is definitely not a problem with Nautilus as it can be seen by all file browsers, including using the command line gvfs-copy as can be seen in the strace output below from running 'gvfs-copy source file smb://windows server/share/directory'. For the same reason it is also very likely not a gvfs problem as I'm seeing the exact same issue with Dolphin on KDE that is using a different network file system implementation. The only thing common to both implementations is using libsmbclient as the underlying protocol implementation. I've also seen that using the gvfs-fuse mount (at ~/.gvfs) works, and I don't know how to account for that. But besides this bizarre condition, this all seem to me like bug #393012 that came to bite us again. ** Attachment added: strace of gvfs-copy showing the problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-application/+bug/659854/+attachment/1718018/+files/gvfs-copy-debug.txt ** Changed in: indicator-application Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: nautilus Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 393012 smb: Error while copying file, Invalid argument * You can subscribe to bug 393012 by following this link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/393012/+subscribe -- Nautilus 2.32.0: Copy to SMB https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659854 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 669131] [NEW] Samba won't connect after boot, requires restart of smbd
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba Kubuntu 10.10, KDE 4.5.1, samba 2:3.5.4~dfsg-1ubuntu8 On my Kubuntu system I have set up Samba to share out two directories. The problem is: when I boot (or reboot) the Kubuntu system and then try to connect to these shares from my iMac, I get a Connection failed error on the iMac. This error implies that the iMac can not at all contact the Samba server. However, right after booting the Kubuntu system the Samba daemon is in fact running; to wit: service smbd status produces a message like smbd start/running, process 4313. It is not until I restart the Samba daemon on the Kubuntu system with sudo service smbd restart that the Samba server comes on-line and the shares become available to the iMac. I tested this with two different macs, one running Tiger, the other Leopard; I do not have a Windows PC. This bug already existed in Lucid. It has been reported more than once (can't find the bug numbers though...). [Bug 668748] [NEW] Unable to contact time server
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Kubuntu 10.10, KDE 4.5.1 When I try to modify the time server in the KDE Date and Time settings panel I get a message like: Unable to contact time server: europe.pool.ntp.org I can ping the time pool server: PING europe.pool.org (64.99.80.30) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from url.hover.com (64.99.80.30): icmp_req=1 ttl=118 time=114 ms .. The bug only occurs when the package ntp is installed. It does not occur when I uninstall the package or when I disable ntpd with sudo service ntp stop. Also, I noticed that the ntpdate startup script does behave nicely: it stops ntpd before running ntpdate. Quoting /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate : .. invoke-rc.d --quiet ntp stop /dev/null 21 || true /usr/sbin/ntpdate-debian -s $OPTS 2/dev/null || : invoke-rc.d --quiet ntp start /dev/null 21 || true .
