both host and guest are 64 bit. i said it have to be moved maybe but wasnt shure where to fill it exactly. anyway it seems to happen when you run quemu/kvm on the host (at least 64 bit debian) and guest 10.04lts 64 bit guest and make latest kernel update. its everytime reproduceable its happen now more and more. the only reason not much more are affected is maybe because of the nature of that thing. server as guests are commonly not rebootet (or most users try to prevent a reboot of course :-) this week im gonna testinstall a 10.04 as a host and try it again with a guest but still if the host (different distri but always using qemu/kvm) makes a difference its still very interresting - i mean with a full virtualisation system the guest kernel should run or should not run all the time. what else is the point in using full virtualisation (looks were running into similar issues paravirtualisation has -- Update to 10.04 2.6.32-25 as KVM Guest no longer boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 671427] [NEW] grub-legacy-ec2 should not use UUID
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cloud-init After the first time update-grub-legacy-ec2 runs inside an ec2 instance, the root will be specified by UUID. The initial images are hard coded to have root specified on the linux command line by LABEL, but after the first run, a UUID will appear. This is actually superior in some ways, but will negatively affect filesystem level rebundling (ie, in euca-bundle-vol). root=UUID=429ef293-0128-4c19-b194-4b9a2e4fe7a1 On ext2, the UUID can be written with 'tune2fs -U' or 'mke2fs -U' Some more thought needs to go into how to fix this correctly. The reason for choosing LABEL and/or UUID rather than 'root=/dev/sda1' was to be more like grub2, and to avoid disk naming issues (even though, on ec2, sda1 is probably a constant for the root device). [Bug 671103] Re: backport grub-legacy-ec2 from maverick to lucid
** Description changed: Binary package hint: cloud-init I'm investigating backporting support for guest managed kernels into 10.04 guest UEC images. Doing so would allow 10.04 guest images that were running on EC2 and 10.10 UEC hosts to run 'apt-get dist-upgrade reboot' and boot into their new kernel. Currently, the 10.04 guests cannot manage their own kernel under either UEC or EC2. The solution in place for 10.10 is to use grub-pc to load the kernel on UEC and legacy-grub-ec2 to load the kernel on EC2. In order to do this, we will need to pull the legacy-grub-ec2 package (a binary package built from cloud-init's source) to lucid. [Bug 670981] Re: package libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Hi derek, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help us make Ubuntu better! I see this in the DpkgTerminalLog.txt: Installing new version of config file /etc/apache2/mods-available/php5.conf ... frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0. That is most likely a transient error, but one that dpkg should probably handle better. I can see other bug reports with the same error message and they appear not to be reproducible. However, this seems like a point where dpkg's X frontend could simple retry (as it should with an error message like that). Re-assigning to dpkg, and marking as Confirmed based on bug 505277 and bug 406698 which seem to be the same issue (and will be marked as duplicates of this one). ** Package changed: php5 (Ubuntu) = dpkg (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: dpkg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Summary changed: - package libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 + dpkg locks up operations upon error frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0 -- dpkg locks up operations upon error frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670981 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 669005] Re: Apache2 crashes on reload
Guy, awesome, this narrows things down a bit. Can you also install these debug symbols and repeat the trace?: php5-dbg libssl0.9.8-dbg libcurl3-dbg I'm guessing that this is a bug in PHP or curl that isn't re- initializing some kind of global state for openssl. Are you definitely using the curl module for php? If not, you can try apt-get remove php5-curl And see if that resolves the issue. Please report back if that does (as it will help us to isolate the issue). ** Changed in: apache2 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- Apache2 crashes on reload https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669005 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
