[Bug 530000] Re: mono assembly installation under qemu-arm-static hangs
this seems to be an issue with your board, on the supported ubuntu architectures native installation of mono packages works fine (there are surely plenty issues with applications, but the breakage you describe above observed in VMs yet) all our images build fine and install the mono dependencies without problems on omap (lucid-natty), imx51(jaunty- lucid), dove (jaunty-maverick) and omap4 (maverick-natty) platforms. there is no way to work around the issue in qemu-user sessions unless mono switches to a different garbage collector. boehm GC (which is currently used in mono) uses /proc to collect data. under the qemu-user emulation as qemu-arm-static is one (which is a wrapper around every single binary) the arm binaires only see the host machines /proc filesystem and can not collect data from this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53 Title: mono assembly installation under qemu-arm-static hangs -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 695857] Re: ssl protection not default for sensitive packages
Hi janl. This makes a lot of sense, and it just needs some questions answered before it can go into the confirmed wishlist: 1) If SSL is not installed, but somebody installs webapp foo, should we then go ahead and allow it to be served via clear HTTP? SSL requires some setup and possibly acquiring a 3rd party signed certificate, whereas users inside a LAN may want to allow port 80 access. 2) How does a user specify that they want a service to be insecure? Its entirely possible that a service is sitting behind an SSL accelerator and so does not need port 443. 3) Should the apps, if they need protection, just mark themselves as requiring ssl by having SSLRequireSSL in their default configuration? Answer those in the bug description, and then we can change the status to Confirmed. Marking Incomplete pending answer to the 2 questions above. [Bug 696318] Re: Starting VMs on qcow2 format with base images in level three fails
Thank you for taking the time to file this report and helping to make Ubuntu better. The information in the description shows that level3.img is owned by root:root, and that the reason for not being able to use level3.img was due to permission being denied. Could you chown libvirt-qemu:kvm /tmp/level*.img, and try again? Note: since libvirt chowns the files before using them, it actually seems more likely that level2.img or level1.img would be the problem. [Bug 696318] Re: Starting VMs on qcow2 format with base images in level three fails
Looking at the libvirt source code, the chowning of the files to root:root rather than your own credentials is not a bug, but a not-yet- implemented feature (marked by the comment '/* XXX record previous ownership */'). Nevertheless, I assume (hope) that level1.img and level2.img do not get chowned to root:root when level3.img was used as the disk image. So long as that is the case, as a workingaround you should be able to initially chown all three files to libvirt-qemu:qemu. After each session is closed libvirt will chown level3.img to root:root, but not touch the other two. On next startup, level1 and level2 are owned by the right user, and level3 will get chowned. Please reply and let us know if that is not the case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/696318 Title: Starting VMs on qcow2 format with base images in level three fails -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
