[Bug 804211] Re: package foo2zjs 20110210dfsg-1ubuntu2.1 failed to install/upgrade: problemas de dependencias - se deja sin configurar

2011-07-11 Thread Martin Pitt
The prerm would stop cups/samba, and fail if that fails. But here cups
and samba were apparently running already. How can that happen?

[Bug 212370] Re: Have to modprobe coretemp manually in order to get CPU temperatures on MacBook Pro

2011-07-11 Thread Barry Warsaw
I just tried this on my MBP1,1 running Natty. sensors-detect correctly
found the coretemp module, and prompted me to add it to /etc/modules.
The default is not to install it, but I chose yes. On a reboot,
coretemp was loaded and `sensors` gave me core temperatures.

Now, my MBP1,1 is about 6 years old and I don't have any newer Mac
hardware running Ubuntu natively, so I can't test whether something more
needs to be done for MBP6,2. @Chad, are you saying that `sensors-
detect` is not doing the right thing for you?

[Bug 808224] Re: ovs-brcompatd not built

2011-07-11 Thread Ben Pfaff
Speaking as the Debian and upstream maintainer for Open vSwitch, ovs-
brcompatd isn't in the upstream Debian version of the package because we
don't want to encourage people to use it.

It might make sense to add another binary package for ovs-brcompatd, if
you really need it.

The DKMS package is definitely not an appropriate place for this binary.

[Bug 808224] Re: ovs-brcompatd not built

2011-07-11 Thread Shi Jin
Hi Ben. Thanks.
I think it makes perfect sense to add another binary package for ovs-brcompatd.
Does it make sense to to separate the two kernel modules into two packages from
the current DKMS since it now builds the brcompatd module automatically while
it is not really recommended. Ideally, one would like to have a user-land
package for ovs-brcompatd and a kernel module package for the mod_brcomptad
only.

Thanks a lot.

[Bug 808939] [NEW] autofs has undocumented dependency on smbfs

2011-07-11 Thread Ron Young
Public bug reported:

root@mediacenter:/usr/share/squeezeboxserver# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 11.04
Release:11.04
autofs5:
  Installed: 5.0.5-0ubuntu6
  Candidate: 5.0.5-0ubuntu6
  Version table:
 *** 5.0.5-0ubuntu6 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

On a fresh install of natty, I was trying to automount a SMB share.
Following the documentation, I was still unable to get the share to
mount (kept failing with various messages: No username...
or
mount wrong fs type)

In researching this problem I came across a reference to smbfs.
Once I installed smbfs, things started working.

I suggest that a dependency for smbfs be added to the autofs
package.

** Affects: autofs5 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 212370] Re: Have to modprobe coretemp manually in order to get CPU temperatures on MacBook Pro

2011-07-11 Thread Steve Langasek
If we think this should happen by default, lm-sensors is the wrong place
to fix this; lm-sensors is not installed by default (it's in universe),
whereas the coretemp module appears to be part of the main kernel. If
there's no way to express the hardware as a kernel module alias, then
perhaps it should be a udev rule keyed on the relevant bus?

[Bug 212370] Re: Have to modprobe coretemp manually in order to get CPU temperatures on MacBook Pro

2011-07-11 Thread Julian Wiedmann
Barry:
There's no Mac needed to test this, it's really just about the CPU model. The
commit missing in lm-sensors is
http://www.lm-sensors.org/changeset/5905/lm-sensors
The hard-coded model list (which lm-sensors in oneiric is currently using)
lacks the cases for Intel's more recent CPUs, such as Arrandale/0x25 (-
MBP6,2) or Sandybridge/0x2A.

2011-07-11 Thread Nate Muench
I just want to note that someone has opened a bug about the build
failures with the newest packaging.

Said bug is #807903 and I've added a line to the changelog. There is no
patch name because I don't know what's it going to called.

@Serge, over the last couple of days, I've only made changes to the
debian folder (merging 2011.03.28-387002-0ubuntu4, and the GCC line in
the changelog)

2011-07-11 Thread Serge Hallyn
@Nate

(ignore my last email, obviously it is all about those errors)

I'll hold off and see your proposed fix. I suspect though that the
thing to do is engage upstream in getting all those errors fixed. Some
of them are obvious, but with others we need to at least look a the
function whose result is being assigned to the otherwise-unused
variable, and make sure we don't depend on any side effects in that fn.

Anyway, I think you're saying you ahve this about licked, so I'll wait
until you either post your patch proposal, or tell me I misunderstood
and I should proceed.

2011-07-11 Thread Nate Muench
I may have a patch, I found it on the bug tracker on their sourceforge
page. It's for the stable 8.4.2 version, but I think I can adapt it for
my purpose.

Although when I push it to my Virtual Test Repo, I'm probably going to
have to use my Natty machine because my Oneiric Virtual Machine is on
the fritz (damn GDM), and I got no GUI.

So, Stand by.

Done, I'm going to add the file to Oneiric via the Natty Live CD.

2011-07-11 Thread Nate Muench
Just pushed to my Virtual Test PPA. This doesn't have
2011.03.28-387002-0ubuntu4 because as I said, I can't access the GUI on
my Oneiric Alpha 2 VM because of the GDM freezing up. And I can't
create pbuilder environment (apparently debootstrap is being a pain in
the ass), so we'll have to wait 5 hours to see if the patch works. I'm
saying there is a 40% that it'll work.

If Successful, I'm going to copy the source to my regular PPA and
rebuild for Natty, just because.

The Original Bug Report:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3354213group_id=204462atid=989708

The report was closed for being out of date. And it was kind of was,
but I adapted it (sans one section that said it was only for 8.4.2,
which is why I say 40%). And the patch was made for Fedora 15, which
has GCC 4.6.0.
