[Bug 826828] Re: Clamav microversion update for 0.97 - 0.97.2

2011-08-25 Thread Imre Gergely
Added patches to bug #829089 and #752833 which should be fixed in Oneiric
before the SRU/backporting (IMHO).
Not sure about these two: bug #829945 and bug #829944.

[Bug 752833] Re: apparmor deny freshclam mask=r on /var/run/samba/unexpected.tdb

2011-08-25 Thread Imre Gergely
Talked it over with jdstrand, and the conclusion is that we will add another
deny rule (or better yet, extend the existing one), to stop the log spamming.
I've attached the rule suggested by jdstrand.
We can't really reproduce this bug but the rule can be added safely as it
doesn't change the default behavior, the access still gets denied, but not
logged anymore.
With this rule added, freshclam works the same.

Thank you so much for the patch. The new silent rules makes sense.
Your follow-up on that not-reproduced and minor bug is greatly appreciated.
Regards.

[Bug 833684] Re: [FFE] Update PostgreSQL to 9.1, drop 9.0

2011-08-25 Thread Martin Pitt
9.1 final will definitively be in oneiric. Presumably it'll hit between
beta 1 and 2.

It will also save users yet another upgrade, they can upgrade from 8.4
straight to 9.1 instead of 8.4 - 9.0 - 9.1.

I convert this to a tracking bug and created tasks for all affected

Synced postgresql-9.1 into oneiric, will close this once it's built on
all arches and binNEWed.

[Bug 833684] Re: [FFE] Update PostgreSQL to 9.1, drop 9.0

2011-08-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package postgresql-common - 120+bzr1

---
postgresql-common (120+bzr1) oneiric; urgency=low

Upload current Debian bzr head to oneiric.

  * debian/supported-versions: Switch Ubuntu 11.10 to 9.1 (LP: #833684) and
also preemtively add Ubuntu 12.04 (which will ship with 9.1, too).

postgresql-common (120) unstable; urgency=low

  * PgCommon.pm, cluster_info(): Do not consider external_pid_file
configuration as valid if it is '(none)'. Fixes test suite regression in
version 119.
  * debian/supported-versions: Switch to 9.1 as default and testing/unstable
supported version. This will also cause -server-dev-all to only pull in
-9.1.
  * PgCommon.pm: Partially revert changes for #606336: postmaster does not
clean up the PID file when it stops, and it is not world readable, so only
its absence is a definitive result. If the PID file is present, do the
port probe to check if it is really running.

Accepted libcgroup into lucid-proposed, the package will build now and
be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to

2011-08-25 Thread Scott Kitterman
Updated package for 829089 and 752833 uploaded and waiting for approval.
829945 and 829944 are not a regression. We ought to fix those, but I
don't think this update needs to wait for those.

[Bug 833530] Re: nova-compute is missing dependency on qemu-kvm

2011-08-25 Thread Scott Moser
I realized this also not listed as a depends of nova-compute, and I
think the dependency is probably there.

It would seem the best solution would be for the ubuntu qemu-kvm source package
to create a qemu-utils package like debian's.

[Bug 833799] [NEW] please provide qemu-utils binary package

2011-08-25 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

Debian's qemu source package builds a 'qemu-utils' binary package [1].
This is very useful as there are many cases where you do not need or want all
of kvm but need qemu-img or qemu-nbd.

I stumbled on this feature request through bug 833530.

[Bug 833818] [NEW] default DIT suffix should be definable by user (debconf/preseed)

2011-08-25 Thread Peter Matulis
Public bug reported:

After much complaining (bug #442498) the slapd package in Natty now sets
up a default DIT out of the box. However, the change is a little
braindead as it sets up the suffix based on the localdomain of the
localhost. I realize the change came in from Debian but I'm sure we can
do better than this. Please allow the user to decide (debconf/preseed)
what suffix to use for their database!

Re: [Bug 829628] Re: [FFE] Add cgroup-lite package

2011-08-25 Thread StefanPotyra
Hi Serge,

On Thu, Aug 25, 2011 at 04:23:25AM -, Serge Hallyn wrote:
 Quoting StefanPotyra (stefan.pot...@informatik.uni-erlangen.de):

 Thanks for looking, Stefan.

  This looks odd:

  +cd /sys/fs/cgroup
  +for d in `/bin/ls`; do

  +   umount $d || true
  +done

Thanks for drawing my attention to this. This is indeed a problem. As
 an example, I did:

(as root) mount --bind /dev/pts /mnt
   (as serge) (cd /sys/fs/cgroup; ln -s /mnt)
   (as root) umount /sys/fs/cgroup/mnt

 and /mnt got umounted.

I didn't think about such a scenario, and believe that that would be
the fault of the admin to mount stuff there.

As for the for d in `/bin/ls`; do bit, what exactly looks odd about it? I
 do
it all the time by hand, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be changed here...

I usually use for i in *; do ;)
The case where * doesn't match anything should be covered by || true, right?
Anyways, I guess I wasn't clear that this was just a small oddity, not at all
a blocker.

I had considered specifying a (configurable) list of cgroups to mount,
and then only umount those. I.e.

 CGROUPS=memory devices cpu freezer

at top of the upstart job. Maybe 'all' option which then grabs all from 'cat
 /proc/cgroups. Would that be preferable?

I like the current simplicity :). However that's up to you, I'd be equally happy
with it.

Is the following sufficient (no clue really, I've never been too intimate
  with upstart scripts)?
  +start on mounted MOUNTPOINT=/sys

The cgroups get mounted under /sys/fs/cgroup, and have no userspace
dependencies, so it should be sufficient.

Having /proc mounted? (Is it guaranteed to be mounted prior to /sys?) Having
/usr mounted in case it is on a different partition? (Or don't we support such a
scenario). As I wrote, I don't have too much clue about upstart.

apart from that, I don't see if any mentioned bugs have been forwarded
to upstream. Can you shed some light here please? Seeing upstream

The bug about cgclear failing (so that the job fails to stop, and the
package can't be removed) was mentioned upstream, but I don't believe
they've pushed a patch for it yet. They announced in the last few days
that they expect all functionality to be pulled into systemd, and therefore
 will stop developing.

Ah, ok.

IMO it's both boot speed and not running extraneous daemons on your
 system.

Go ahead then, FFe granted.

Cheers,
   Stefan.

[Bug 830142] Re: package samba-common-bin 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: short read on buffer copy for backend dpkg-deb during `./usr/bin/smbpasswd'

2011-08-25 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure can be caused by filesystem or memory corruption.
So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. If
this does resolve your bug please set its status to Invalid. Thanks in
advance!

[Bug 368962] Re: Can't reboot kvm virtual machines using virsh

2011-08-25 Thread Tim Miller Dyck
As acpid is required in guest VMs for the Upstart pre-stop procedure to
work, I'd like to suggest that acpid be included by default in Ubuntu
Server virtual machine variants (or all Ubuntu Server default installs,
for that matter). This will enable this feature to automatically work as
expected in future versions of Ubuntu Server.

I submitted this suggestion here also:
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/28447/

Thanks,
Tim Miller Dyck

[Bug 350936] Re: Should shut down domains on system shutdown

2011-08-25 Thread Nathan Crawford
Tested on 10.04 64bit. Before installing the proposed package, guests'
/var/log/dmesg contained this after every time the host was shutdown (either
with shutdown command or by pressing power button):
[7.316252] EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem.
[7.316256] EXT3-fs: write access will be enabled during recovery.
[ 36.242794] kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
[ 36.242815] EXT3-fs: recovery complete.

And after installing proposed package, guest dmesg contains:
[7.101435] kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
[7.101455] EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.

It gets a thumbs up from me!
