[Bug 784797] Re: [Natty] freshclam.conf has invalid characters and cannot be parsed

2012-02-02 Thread rubik-cube
One workaround to remove the http://; part for me was to jump to the
beginning of the line with C-a and then delete the line with C-k. I'm
not certain if this is a bug in freshclam's config or maybe rather in
the combination of debconf, bash and possibly konsole.

RE: [Bug 925278] Re: nova-api will not run (some change in trunk PPA over past 48hrs)

2012-02-02 Thread Paul Pettigrew
G'day all

I located the cause (thanks to Vish's pointer in the right direction,
that this was api paste related).

Turns out that the single line:
  /services/Admin: ec2admin

That was removed from the [composite:ec2] stanza within Nova's api-
paste.ini file during commit 638ea66969 caused nova-api to not run per
the initial bug report below.

The fix was to simply remove the /services/Admin: ec2admin line and
restart the nova-api service, voila - Nova is running again :-)

I hope this information helps others.

Cheers

Paul

[Bug 925511] [NEW] lxc init script should fail when it ... failed

2012-02-02 Thread Serge Hallyn
Public bug reported:

In particular if dnsmasq is installed, then the lxcbr0 dnsmasq will
fail, but /etc/init.d/lxc will ignore that. That makes future container
starts hang mysteriously.

If something fails, make sure to clean up (remove lxcbr0) and return an
error.

[Bug 925520] [NEW] lxc script non-root errors can be confusing

2012-02-02 Thread Gary Poster
Public bug reported:

A trivial thing, but at least a couple of people have been confused by
something like this, just being forgetful:

$ lxc-start -n lp
lxc-start: failed to cap_get_flag: Invalid argument
lxc-start: failed to create veth5HNAcN-vethyuiOEf : Operation not permitted
lxc-start: failed to create netdev
lxc-start: failed to create the network
lxc-start: failed to spawn 'lp'
lxc-start: No such file or directory - failed to remove cgroup
'/sys/fs/cgroup/cpuset//lxc/lp'

The fix is to simply use sudo. The error message does not communicate
this clearly.

I'd suggest that the lxc scripts that need to be run as root (is that
all of them except lxc-list?) have a this script must be run as root
error message, or similar. It's a small thing, but I think it would be
appreciated by users.

[Bug 924337] Re: lxc on precise is not working with lucid containers (container does not reach runlevel 2)

2012-02-02 Thread Serge Hallyn
rc-sysinit.conf never starts because it doesn't see net-device-up for
lo. When I do:

sudo initctl emit --no-wait net-device-up IFACE=lo

then the container transitions to runlevel 'N 2'.

When I first created lxcguest, one of the main things it did was emit
that event. Then we stopped having to, but the reasons were always a
bit too mysterious for me.

Assigning to stgraber as I *believe* he will know offhand what's going

[Bug 925315] Re: [Patch][Precise]Enable LZO support

2012-02-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
The attachment Enable LZO of this bug report has been identified as
being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has
been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully
sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in fact not a patch you
can resolve this situation by removing the tag 'patch' from the bug
report and editing the attachment so that it is not flagged as a patch.
Additionally, if you are member of the ubuntu-sponsors team please also
unsubscribe the team from this bug report.

Rationale: There is significant value to both the community and paid
customers in having Canonical own and maintaining images on major cloud-
  vendors.

  Assumptions:
    * There are literally thousands of public Ubuntu public images; each public
image is slightly different and is confusing to customers.
    * Owning our own images will help to reduce vendor customization and make
for a consistent experience across different cloud-vendors.
    * There will be new major cloud-vendors that will want the official images,
or on which we want to publish images.
    * The current system was design for publishing images to one vendors in
multiple regions
    * Amazon AWS is growing with new services and new regions, which may stress
the current system

  UDS Deciusions:
To provide multiple ways for different cloud vendors to consume the official
Ubuntu images. The four methods decided on are:
  1. Push Ubuntu images to all EC2 regions
  2. Provide a public glance server for OpenStack Deployments. OpenStack to
make changes to support multiple glance registry servers.
  3. Provide a sync script for people to pull the latest images for OpenStack
  4. Provide a sync script for people to pull the latest images for Eucalpytus

[Blueprint servercloud-p-pushing-cloud] Pushing Ubuntu to the Cloud

  [utlemming] Eucalytpus sync script: TODO
[utlemming] Upstream changes to live-build: TODO
[smoser] Stand-up a public glance server: TODO
