[Blueprint servercloud-p-php54] PHP 5.4 for Ubuntu 12.04
Blueprint changed by Ondřej Surý: Whiteboard changed: Status: After some discussions with our release team and security team, there is a strong desire to ship 5.4.0 rather than 5.3.10. The more conservative approach is just to ship 5.3.9 or 5.3.10 and leave 5.4.0 for 12.10, but the PHP community is interested in weighing in on the issue and I'd also like to hear the security team's take on the matter. * provide packages for both precise and lucid in the ppa (or lucid-backports) so people can test before upgrade * provide rebuilt extensions against the new ABI Question: With both PHP 5.4.0 final and Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 released today, is it correct to assume that the chances of PHP 5.4 being shipped with Ubuntu 12.04 are basically non existant? -Clemens -- PHP 5.4 for Ubuntu 12.04 https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-php54 -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 946953] [NEW] 'Permission denied' when using a windows share
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi, I'm having trouble telling deja-dup to send backups to a windows share. First, there is no 'share' field like there is in Nautilus. I tried share/path and /share/path with the same result : deja-dup doesn't ask for a password and immediately says 'Permission Denied'. I then tried 'custom location', giving it a URI like smb://domain;user@server/share/path. Same result. There is no problem with the windows share as it mounts perfectly in Nautilus. Any idea ? ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: deja-dup 20.1-0ubuntu0.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-16.28-generic 3.0.17 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Mar 5 10:12:15 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) SourcePackage: deja-dup UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug oneiric running-unity -- 'Permission denied' when using a windows share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946953 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 946953] Re: 'Permission denied' when using a windows share
I did some more testing : - It is not a configuration problem: I tried with 'custom location' and copy/pasted the URI from Nautilus, same result (permission denied, without asking for a password). - the problem is specific to a share which is hosted on an EMC array. Specifying a share on a windows box works fine. - A colleague running OpenSuse 12.1 (64) is having the same error trying to mount that share in Nautilus. So, I now think the problem might not be related to deja-dup, or ubuntu for that matter. ** Package changed: deja-dup (Ubuntu) = samba (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - 'Permission denied' when using a windows share + 'Permission denied' when mounting a windows share on an EMC array -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946953 Title: 'Permission denied' when mounting a windows share on an EMC array To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/946953/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

You should indeed be able to use mount.cifs to mount the share, but that doesn't involve Samba, just the cifs kernel module. ** Package changed: samba (Ubuntu) = ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946953 Title: 'Permission denied' when mounting a windows share on an EMC array To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/946953/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Marc, the new debdiff looks mostly right. [Bug 950183] Re: puppetmaster-passenger postinst creates wrong certificate files and puppetmaster vhost if puppet config print has an error
Hey Glen-- Thanks for reporting this and helping us make Ubuntu better! I believe the issue here is that 'puppet config print' returns 0 on failure. The maintainer script is 'set -e', but in this case the errors are not caught. I'm wondering the script should be attempting to parse err: from calls to config print and fail early, or we should work on a patch to puppet to properly return non-zero on those errors. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950183 Title: puppetmaster-passenger postinst creates wrong certificate files and puppetmaster vhost if puppet config print has an error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puppet/+bug/950183/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Adem, I can confirm that if it returns 0 on failure, which is really bad behaviour. Its really sad that such simple things can cause so much trouble. For now the fastest fix is to see if err: is returned by puppet config print in the postinst before even doing anything and if so the postinst should exit the install, roll back any changes and give a message that puppet.conf should be fixed first before reinstalling.

Re: [Bug 912355] Re: euca-allocate-address is not acepting any parameters
Per the API documentation; http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/ApiReference-query-AllocateAddress.html You cannot specify an address. It is allocated for you from a pool. If you need a fixed location, the recommendation is to set up a DNS record and point it to the elastic IP. [Bug 881464] Re: [MIR] keystone
I have performed another shallow security audit of keystone. The code audit was not deep because Keystone is very young and developing very fast. (even more so now because of the rewrite. -- http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-identity/admin/content/what-is.html. With that said, here is my review: Package review: - Does not run as root - Has test suite in the build, but 139 out of 266 test cases fail. debian/rules has: override_dh_auto_test: bash run_tests.sh -N || true - Listens on all interfaces by default, on ports 5000/tcp and 35357/tcp (admin interface) - no sudo fragments - no DBus services - no setuid/setgid binaries - By default, does not use ssl. Since access to keystone is necessarily over the network and considering that Keystone/Nova/Glance/Quantum bits are likely on a trusted network (though they should use SSL as well), the most important bit seems to be the User to Keystone interaction, as that is where the password is passed and the token used by the other services is received. If the password or token is snooped then an attacker can do everything as that authenticated user. - The previous version of keystone had some sort of SSL capabilities, but this version doesn't support it in any documentation. Code review: - no privileged operations - process spawning seems sane - file handling seems sane - environment handling seems sane - uses sqlalchemy, which is good Requirements for main inclusion: - add to manpage the fact that this must be on a trusted network segment or provide proper SSL configuration. - fix test suite and make it fail the build ** Changed in: keystone (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: keystone (Ubuntu) Assignee: Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand) = (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to keystone in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881464 Title: [MIR] keystone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keystone/+bug/881464/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
