[Bug 841672] Re: ssh-add does not always unlock ssh keys
I found a way to trigger the gnome dialog box directly, so I only have to enter the ssh password once. I created ~/bin/gssh-add and put the following in it: SSH_ASK_PASS=/usr/bin/ssh-askpass ssh-add I then make it executable: chmod +x ~/bin/gssh-add And then I launch it using Alt+F2. That triggers the gnome dialog box. Note that if you run gssh-add from the terminal it will not trigger the gnome dialog box. [Bug 985727] Re: krb5-admin-server falsely claiming clock skew errors
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have failed to reproduce this on Precise. krb5-admin-server 1.10+dfsg~beta1-2 krb5-kdc1.10+dfsg~beta1-2 I made sure that DNS worked correctly (by putting the server FQDN in /etc/hosts), symlinked /dev/urandom to /dev/random (as I am running on a VM, it's short of entropy) and ran krb5_newrealm. I added an admin credential using kadmin.local, and then kadmin works without any delay. Can you check that you don't have a DNS issue resolving your admin server slowly, thus causing a clock skew issue? I'm not sure what else to suggest. If you can provide step-by-step instructions to reproduce this on a single fresh VM, this would help. ** Changed in: krb5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to krb5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/985727 Title: krb5-admin-server falsely claiming clock skew errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/krb5/+bug/985727/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 986159] [NEW] squid3 open file descriptors limit is set incorrectly

[Bug 596859] Re: ntp profile denies write access to serial devices
Paul, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I've just checked the current development version, and I see @{NTPD_DEVICE} rw in /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.ntpd and @{NTPD_DEVICE}=/dev/null in /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/ntpd. You said that you're using 10.04. This is an older release than where the bug was fixed in, so this would make sense. If you are using an old release, a workaround is to fix /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.ntpd by hand. Even in the current release, it appears that it is intended and required to specify the serial port device in /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/ntpd. So as far as I can determine, this bug is fixed in the current development version and there has been no regression. [Bug 596859] Re: ntp profile denies write access to serial devices
Paul, In order to maintain stability, a stable release only gets bugfixes backported if they are deemed severe enough. [Bug 986159] Re: squid3 open file descriptors limit is set incorrectly
Timur, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we're in Final Freeze at the moment (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FinalFreeze), pending the imminent release next week. I wonder if you can give us any information on the impact of this bug? If we release without this fix, how many people are likely to be affected? Do you think this bug is severe enough to warrant a freeze exception? I think that this bug won't affect most users, and of course there's an easy workaround by fixing the config file by hand, so it probably doesn't justify a freeze exception. Or is this inaccurate? The alternatives are to either issue a Stable Release Update after release (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates), or to defer the fix until the next release. [Bug 986314] [NEW] squid3 missing pie and bind-now hardening options
Public bug reported: The squid (v2) package had all of the hardening options enabled (see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=542723) due to squid receiving and parsing network input and the number of and severity of prior security issues; however, with the transition to squid3 some of these options were lost by falling back to the default compiler settings. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1) install the hardening-includes package 2) run '/usr/bin/hardening-check /usr/sbin/squid3' If all the hardening options were enabled at compile time, the output and return code should be: $ hardening-check /usr/sbin/squid3 /usr/sbin/squid3: Position Independent Executable: yes Stack protected: yes Fortify Source functions: yes (some protected functions found) Read-only relocations: yes Immediate binding: yes $ echo $? 0 However, with the current squid3 version in precise(3.1.19-1ubuntu2) , the output and return code are like so: $ /usr/bin/hardening-check /usr/sbin/squid3 /usr/sbin/squid3: Position Independent Executable: no, normal executable! Stack protected: yes Fortify Source functions: yes (some protected functions found) Read-only relocations: yes Immediate binding: no not found! $ echo $? 1 You can also use the test-built-binaries.py script from the lp:qa- regression-testing testsuite, with python-nose to run just the squid portion, like so: $ nosetests test-built-binaries.py:BuiltBinariesTest.test_squid -v Testing squid ... ok -- Ran 1 test in 3.699s OK ** Affects: squid3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to squid3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986314 Title: squid3 missing pie and bind-now hardening options To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid3/+bug/986314/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 978356] Re: squid3 gets killed at startup with dnsmasq and no networkmanager
So I think what is happening is that the network interface is coming up before squid has installed a handler for SIGHUP. *tons* of stuff happens between squid starting, and squid installing its signal handlers. I haven't gone through all of the code but I'm betting at least one or two stall on not having a network yet. It would seem that squid should probably ignore SIGHUP almost immediately on startup to avoid this issue. Re: [Bug 211631] Re: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown)
I have tried the cifs mount over VPN scenario and shutting down does still take time. [Bug 211631] Re: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown)
What type of VPN connection? If it is managed by NetworkManager, it should be brought down when network manager is brought down, *after* all network filesystems are brought down. If not, that seems like a bug in whatever is running VPNs, but its probably not *this* bug. [Bug 211631] Re: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown)
Well, that would normally be correct, but the VPN plugins depend on vpnc, pptp, openvpn, etc. to be running to establish and keep the VPN connection up for rekeying and such. Those don't get a pid file in /run/sendsigs.omit.d yet, and so they would get killed by the sendsigs script shortly before upstart jobs actually stop network-manager, and possibly before the remote storage is unmounted, depending on when that happens. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211631 Title: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/211631/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
