[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd
Ah right, there would be the usecase of LDAP with SSL used by non-GPL-compatible programmes. So the proper fix is to have three sets of LDAP (client) libraries. [Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd
3 sets of LDAP client libraries? That sounds like a terrible solution. Fwiw, I wrote a version of OpenLDAP's TLS support that could use any/all of OpenSSL, GnuTLS, and MozillaNSS simultaneously, and never released it, because it seemed that would be too confusing if separate apps had different expectations of TLS config options. But it would certainly be possible to add libltdl support in, and make libldap dynamically load a single TLS implementation. I still don't see any technical merit in supporting anything besides OpenSSL. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423252 Title: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/423252/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Assumptions: Packaging will use bigtop as a base. - reuse of control file structure will help support bigtop packages in juju charms as and when they support precise. Java will NOT be rebuilt during the package build process. Native libraries will be rebuilt during the package build process. Q: What does this mean for the hive embedded in hcatalog (via hcatalog-0.2.0/hive/external)? I'm guessing we just use the hdp-hive package we create. Patches may be required for native build components. Debconf configuration in packages is useful for Juju charms and should be applied where appropriate. --- Debconf currently in use: namenode, jobtracker and hdfs_dir Binary distributions will be used from upstream (no source build by default). A: So most of the apache projects ship a binary distribution tarball which includes all of the compile Java etc so we should not build from source - just re-use these jars etc... Challenges: hcatalog not packaged in bigtop trunk (need to check branches) JAVA_HOME and use of openjdk-6/7? JAVA_HOME detection - bigtop use a specific package for this (bigtop-utils) which tries to guess - might be worth re-using. java-package as recommended approach to re-packaging Oracle java for Ubuntu (generates Debian packaging from upstream binary distro). Kerberos security - probably actually needs to be a charm configuration option to secure a cluster. Q: For Kerberos, do we have the necessary dependencies to get this done? If so, I can do the charm work.j Q: Re: Kerberos. We may need to really look into this as this will end up affecting not only hadoop but, all of the other parts ( hive, pig, etc. ) as well. This can really complicate the packaging/charming as well so, we may not have time to get it all done in this cycle. Just my thoughts. MultiArch native libraries in hdp-hadoop package - should not must. Hive contains patches for hcatalog support - we need to work these in somehow (maybe a overlay to the binary re-distribution). hcatalog: External dependency on mysql-connector? and maybe mysql? No binary distribution - only source so will need to be built locally to produce release tarbal. Work items: Resolve conflict between archive zookeeper and partner zookeeper

dbconfig is used. But the update not applied. The script in /usr/share /bacula-director differs from the one given in the bacula sources (where I found it). [Bug 857294] Re: Creating hotspot leads to endless connect/disconnect loop
The IPV6 was not my issue (or might have been secondary). Even with Ignore my dnsmasq services are not responding to DHCP requests. Things look good from the process output (which shows flags, etc for dnsmasq) but no joy when inspecting the wire for DHCP request/response. A separate issue in any event. I did note that when I had IPV6 enabled (set to automatic) that dnsmasq seemed to function and support it based on the syslog output, so perhaps the lack of IPV6 support has been addressed in 12.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857294 Title: Creating hotspot leads to endless connect/disconnect loop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/857294/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 988397] [NEW] Autofs does not clean up /proc/mounts when stopped
Public bug reported: After the autofs service is stopped, the autofs-related stuff still persists in /proc/mounts. I think that the expected behaviour would be for the /proc/mounts entries to be removed after the autofs daemon stops. As a workaround I found that unloading the autofs kernel module with modprobe -r autofs4 results in /proc/mounts to be cleaned up of the autofs stuff. The consequence of this problem is that the system would not reboot because the phantom /proc/mounts entries that autofs leaves behind confuse the /etc/rc6.d/S40umountfs script and the fstab-decode command. For the reference, I have reported the problems with those scripts as bug #988394 . In our case, after autofs is stopped and all directories that it mounted are unmounted, /proc/mounts still contains the following entries: /etc/auto.nfs_h /h autofs rw,relatime,fd=6,pgrp=1004,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,indirect 0 0 /etc/auto.nfs_s /s autofs rw,relatime,fd=12,pgrp=1004,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,indirect 0 0 /etc/auto.nfs_cdf /cdf autofs rw,relatime,fd=18,pgrp=1004,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,direct 0 0 Thanks! Public bug reported: I am running a nagios3 server on ubuntu 10.04 server (nagios3 3.2.0-4ubuntu2.2) and a nrpe server on ubuntu 10.10 (nagios-nrpe-server 2.12-4ubuntu1.10.10.1, nagios-plugins 1.4.14-5ubuntu3) Have these both basically up and running, and the server is able to run a check_disk command on the npre server and receives results. For a check_load command, however, the status information is '(No output returned from plugin)'. I have looked extensively on the web for this, and it appears there are a number of reasons this may happen. On the server, if I run sudo su - nagios -c /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H 10.41.129.36 -c check_load there is nothing returned. If I change the user from nagios to peter, then I get the expected response. On the nrpe server, the same thing is happening. If I run sudo su - nagios -c /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_load -w 15,10,5 -c 30,25,20 there is nothing returned. If I change the user to peter it returns the expected output. I've tried making the plugins all owned by nagios:nagios, that doesn't help. I've tried adding a line for nagios to sudoers file and then adding the sudo command prefix, that doesn't fix it when invoking the command on the nagios server. I've also tried adding the nagios user to the admin group and that doesn't help. I've enabled the debugging on the nrpe server, and for the command from the nagios server, I see the connection and request in syslog when the user is peter, but no such request when the user is nagios. Neither of the local commands generate any syslog output. It is difficult to understand why this command, check_load, on the nrpe server is returning output for users 'peter' and 'root' but not for user 'nagios' when 'nagios' owns the executable. When I check executing the check_disk command locally on the nrpe server with sudo su - nagios -c /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -w 20% -c 10% -p /dev/sda1 it works and returns a report. Curiously, if I change the nagios user to have a login shell, such as /bin/bash, on the nrpe server, then the check_load command is returning output, though still doesn't work from the nagios server. In neither case, however, does the nagios user have a password. Both the check_load and check_disk plugins are owned by nagios:nagios and have -rwxr-xr-x permissions, so what is the difference? /proc/loadavg is owned by root:root and has rw-r--r-- permissions, so should be readable. It appears this is a problem with the nagios user setup in the ubuntu packaging. I have checked the upstream bug fixes to current and there is nothing in nagios-plugin which would appear to address this issue. ** Affects: nagios-plugins (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: nagios3 ** Tags added: nagios3 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nagios-plugins in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988421 Title: nagios3 check_load produces no output To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-plugins/+bug/988421/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 715765] Re: Can't change kerberos password, pam-krb5 try_first_pass also fails
This bug was introduced in MIT Kerberos 1.10. After a failing authentication with preauth required in a particular Kerberos context, all subsequent authentications in that context that require preauth will fail. Upstream has fixed this with commit 25822. This is a fairly serious issue, blocking not only password change but any other situation where multiple passwords are tried in the same context, such as try_first_pass with PAM modules. [Bug 988520] [NEW] After failed auth, subsequent auths in same context fail
Public bug reported: MIT Kerberos 1.10 (including pre-releases and betas) exposed a bug in the tracking of preauth mechanisms such that, if an authentication fails after preauth was requested, all subsequent preauth-required authentications in the same Kerberos context will also fail. [Bug 986956] Re: lxc-execute does not work with commands that require input from terminal
The lxc-execute command is used for 'application container'. Usually, the system container uses a rootfs and the application container do not use a rootfs. So lxc is looking for if the rootfs option is set and then setup the console. Here lxc-execute is used with the rootfs, so it setup the console, that is to say it maps /dev/console to /dev/tty. Of course, that makes sense only if we have the applications writing to /dev/console which is the case when the system containers boot. Doing that with a shell is messy and we have problem with the tty. = Why is needed a rootfs with lxc-execute ? There are 2 solutions to fix this problem: (1) do not specify the rootfs but ro-bind-mount the rootfs/usr to /usr and the other needed directories. (2) change the code to have lxc-execute to take into account a rootfs but I wouldn't recommend that because that will bring much more complexity and more errors with the console by adding a new configuration combination. At least we should decide to ignore the rootfs option when lxc-execute is used. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986956 Title: lxc-execute does not work with commands that require input from terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/986956/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
