[Bug 1033412] [NEW] package lxc 0.7.5-3ubuntu60 failed to install/upgrade: unable to install new version of `/usr/lib/lxc/liblxc.so.0.7.5': Device or resource busy

2012-08-06 Thread James Chapman
Public bug reported:

Had been using lxc on a laptop. Nothing unusual - basic LXC experiments,
created and removed several containers. Suspended and resumed the laptop
at least 5 times between last using lxc and the lxc upgrade.

Perhaps one or more containers is still active?

takes a few minutes before smbd crashes, I wonder how many tmes it
crahes before apport catches.

Btw, I'm running the Quantal Alpha, and smbd crashes the same as it did
in Precise.

Moving the bug to dpkg as lxc isn't doing anything weird that'd explain this.
Replacing a file currently in use is perfectly possible on Linux and shouldn't
cause that error.

it's not up to dpkg to

wonky, or some strange

[Bug 974509] Re: cloud-init selects wrong mirror with dns server redirection

2012-08-06 Thread Scott Moser
This is fixed in cloud-init trunk and in the ubuntu quantal package listed in
comment 4.
I've tested this by:

 * setup:
   * have *some* way to add 'ubuntu-mirror' to the dns for kvm guests
 I used dnsmasq on a server system, and can control this by adding entries
 to /etc/hosts. You need to be able to configure your system such
 that 'host ubuntu-mirror' returns something:
 $ host ubuntu-mirror
 ubuntu-mirror has address 192.168.1.1
   * use make-seed-disk [1] to create a seed disk for cloud-init.
 $ cat user-data.txt
 #cloud-config
 password: passw0rd
 chpasswd: { expire: False }
 ssh_pwauth: True
 $ make-seed-disk seed.img user-data.txt

 * verify issue in released version of precise or quantal alpha3:
   * add 'ubuntu-mirror' entry to dns
   * boot kvm guest
   * check mirror in /etc/apt/sources by:
 $ grep ^deb .*main$ /etc/apt/sources.list
   * quantal-alpha3: ubuntu-mirror is selected
   * precise 20120728: ubuntu-mirror is selected

 * verify fix in quantal 20120804 or later:
   * add 'ubuntu-mirror' entry to dns
   * boot kvm guest of quantal 20120804 or later.
   * check mirror in /etc/apt/sources by:
 $ grep ^deb .*main$ /etc/apt/sources.list
 * verify no regression:
   * remove 'ubuntu-mirror' entry from dns, boot, check /etc/apt/sources.list
 * verify explicit enablement works:
   * add ubuntu-mirror
   * create seed disk with 'apt_mirror_search_dns: True' in user-data
   * verify that /etc/apt/sources.list shows ubuntu-mirror

 * Notes, boot kvm with:
kvm  -m 512 -curses -drive file=seed.img,if=virtio \
  -drive file=disk.img,if=virtio

[Bug 1031063] Re: internal error no supported architecture for os type 'hvm'

2012-08-06 Thread Daniel Berrange
$ virsh define /tmp/foo.xml
error: Failed to define domain from /tmp/foo.xml
error: internal error no supported architecture for os type 'hvm'

This means that libvirt can't find any way to provide the requested domain
configuration. Since your XML shows you requested KVM, most likely this means
that you have not got a KVM binary installed, or /dev/kvm does not exist.

Checking 'virsh capabilities' will show what ostype/hvtype/arch
combinations libvirt has detected. Once you make virsh capabilities show
the hvm+kvm+arch combination needed by the XML, then OpenStack should
work as expected

One thing I saw in the dmesg: the io memory (0xca8) which the SMBIOS
returns is not registered/reserved before. On my machine there is a
reservation by one of the ACPI PNP devices (PNP0c02).

  The problem is at the beginning of the configure_os phase : the
  /etc/apt/apt.conf file containing the proxy configuration is created
  after updating the apt sources. The apt update cannot work without the

[Bug 1029766] Re: keystone logrotate has output when restarting keystone

2012-08-06 Thread Adam Gandelman
Hey Sam-

Thanks for the patch. I've merged the change into our -proposed
packaging branches, where the change will be incorporated into our CI
builds (available in ppa:openstack-ubuntu-testing/folsom-trunk-testing)
and be merged to ~ubuntu-server-dev branch (and Ubuntu archive) with the
next upload of Keystone.

Note, I added an entry to debian/changelog. In the future, please
include an update there. See the first section of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DistributedDevelopment/Documentation/SeekingSponsorship
to see how you can easily do this with dch and bzr.

Thanks!

[Bug 945176] Re: Support privateIpAddress and ipAddress

2012-08-06 Thread Clint Byrum
On initial investigation of the given patch, it seemed that this problem
would be fairly easy to solve with a cherry picked patch.

But, this is not so. ipAddress and privateIpAddress were not present in
the default version of the EC2 API that txaws supported in the release
shipped in precise (EC2 API version 2008-12-01).

Passing an EC2 query object which setts the API version at 2009-11-30,
when the attributes were added, does work, but then causes failures in
other areas of txaws which had to be updated for the newer WSDL, such as
changing 'shutdownState' to 'currentState' in terminate_instances.

This is a red flag for me, and I think this has to be either be changed
to a micro release update with a ton of regression testing, or the new
version must be pushed to precise-backports, and anything (like juju)
that wants to take advantage of the new attributes needs to be careful
to only use them if they are available.

Marking the Precise SRU as Won't Fix, and opening a task against
precise-backports, as that is the more conservative approach. We may
decide to go forward with a micro release update if we can come up with
a good testing plan, but it doesn't seem likely.

2012-08-06 Thread Clint Byrum
Also attaching some test code I wrote to show where ip_address will or
will not appear as a valid attribute depending on the version of txaws.
If the patch is cherry picked, the ipaddress shows up, but
terminateInstances raises an error because of the missing shutdownState.

[Bug 1006738] Re: php5-fpm segfaults with error 4 in libc-2.15.so

2012-08-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
The attachment Quantal debdiff with Upstream Patch for LP #1006738 of
this bug report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a
debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report
so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event
that this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by
removing the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment
so that it is not flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member
of the ubuntu-sponsors team please also unsubscribe the team from this
bug report.

Seems like it's without controversy to release the lucid SRU, so I've
done that.

[Bug 569757] Re: NIS upstart dependency broken for lucid

2012-08-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package nis - 3.17-31ubuntu0.10.04.3

---
nis (3.17-31ubuntu0.10.04.3) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  * debian/nis.ypbind.upstart: don't try to start ypserv if
NISSERVER=false.

nis (3.17-31ubuntu0.10.04.2) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  * Drop the upstart versioned dependency, so that we aren't depending on a
version of upstart only available in oneiric and later.

nis (3.17-31ubuntu0.10.04.1) lucid-proposed; urgency=low

  * Backport from precise:
- Convert to native upstart jobs, with a versioned dependency on
  upstart (= 0.9.7-2) because we use the wait-for-state job.
  LP: #569757.
- Depend on portmap (= 6.0.0-1ubuntu2.1) to ensure our upstart job
  dependencies are satisfied.
  * Don't block gdm, lightdm, or atd on ypbind, since these services never
declared that they want it, so we shouldn't change this in an SRU. It
is at least much easier for an admin to make this change locally now if
they want the DM to block on ypbind.
  * Use 'net-device-up IFACE!=lo' as a start condition, as supported in
lucid, instead of 'static-network-up' and 'failsafe-boot' which were
introduced in oneiric.
  * We also don't have the wait-for-state job in upstart prior to oneiric,
so implement our wait handling by hand in the relevant jobs.
