[Bug 1032180] Re: maas ip change via sudo dpkg-reconfigure maas fails to completely reconfigure
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu MAAS. Cobbler is currently being removed from MaaS for 12.10 (with a possible backport for 12.04). As a result I'm going to make this as a 'Won't Fix' - as this will be resolved when cobbler is removed from MaaS; this should leave the bug around so if other people hit this issue in the meantime they can get some general guidance on how to resolve. [Bug 1037607] [NEW] vmbuilder completely fails on Quantal due to kernel pae detection failure
Public bug reported: Impact: this appears to stop vmbuilder from creating a Quantal VM completely. Evidently the kernel package now looks for /proc/cpuinfo in order to check for PAE support (since PAE support is going away in Quantal). I think this is failing because /proc doesn't exist in the environment that vmbuilder is using. Tested on a fresh Quantal cloud image, dist-upgraded and python-vm- builder installed from the current Quantal archive. The only catch here is that I did it on a virtual image, but I can't see how that would affect this. Possible solution: mount /proc inside the chroot? Log: Selecting previously unselected package linux-image-virtual. [Bug 1037626] [NEW] lxc-create wastes disk space by keeping installation debs
Public bug reported: A default ubuntu container created using lxc-create -n ubuntu -t ubuntu results in 386M space used on /var/lib/lxc/ubuntu/rootfs. A big part of that space is used by cached debs on /var/lib/lxc/ubuntu/rootfs/var/cache/apt/archives/ . Running apt-get clean inside the container's rootfs reduced space usage to 242M. The wasted space becomes even more apparent if the backing store supports compression (e.g. zfsonlinux with gzip compression enabled). In this case the original used space (after compression) was 196M, and was reduced to 95M after the cached package files are removed, over 50% disk space saving. Suggestion: Modify lxc-ubuntu template to run apt-get clean inside the container's rootfs as part of container creation process. # lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release:12.04 # apt-cache policy lxc lxc: Installed: 0.7.5-3ubuntu62 Candidate: 0.7.5-3ubuntu62 Version table: *** 0.7.5-3ubuntu62 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.7.5-3ubuntu52 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/universe amd64 Packages Expected result: lxc-create -t ubuntu result in a container which uses disk space efficiently Actual result: lxc-create -t ubuntu result in a container which uses more disk space than it should ** Affects: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037626 Title: lxc-create wastes disk space by keeping installation debs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1037626/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 997978] Re: KVM images lose connectivity with bridged network
Hi Serge, I would be willing to install your ppa packages. The only issue on my end is that this problem only occurs every 3-4 weeks for me. So I don't think I would be able to give any sort of concrete feedback for whether it addresses the issue or not. My customer's server was having the issue several times per week, but I had to take action pretty quickly to keep them happy and chose to backdate to 11.10. Note that lxc-create -t ubuntu -h would give the ubuntu template help output and not leave a partially created container. [Bug 1037727] [NEW] support adding region/availability to mirror selection
Public bug reported: currently, the ec2 datasource has some code that selects the mirror location by looking at the availability-zone. I think this is generally a pretty good idea. I'd like to extend that to other datasources, and not limit to .ec2.archive.ubuntu.com. The goal would be to basically check for a mirror at: availability-zone[.cloud][dns-subdomain] dns subdomain would default to '.cloud.archive.ubuntu.com'. if the datasource provided the 'cloud' value, we'd use that, but otherwise just use availability-zone. This would fit in with what we're currently doing on ec2, but would extend to others. I'd just treat the cc-direction-[0-9] availability-zones specially, to know that this is an ec2 one. Then basically append .ec2 in that case. ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Triaged ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037727 Title: support adding region/availability to mirror selection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1037727/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
