[Bug 1067929] Re: maas-region-celeryd connects to the wrong queue.

2012-10-18 Thread Raphaël Badin
Andres says it was a missing =. It used to say:
 --queues celery,master
and he's fixing it to say:
 --queues=celery,master

More precisely, the script was using os.execv('celeryd',… , '-Q
celery, master',…) and the space before 'celery' got escaped. I
suggested using the alternative syntax (--queues=celery,master) to
avoid any problems.

[Bug 1068036] [NEW] postfix (precise) has lost the ability to lookup aliases in NIS

2012-10-18 Thread Ernst Kloppenburg
Public bug reported:

on a (freshly installed) system with nis authentication, postfix is no longer
able to read aliases from the nis table mail.aliases.
in 10.04 it worked

symptoms are:
- errors in /var/log/mail.log:
warning: nis:mail.aliases is unavailable. unsupported dictionary type: nis
- and mail is not forwarded

Obviously some build switch was changed between 10.04 and 12.04.
In 10.04:
$ postconf -m | grep nis
nis

In 12.04 the output is empty.

But still in 12.04 the postfix.postinst skript looks for nis and creates
an appropriate mail.cf entry for lookup in nis:mail.aliases

[Bug 1067522] Re: openssh-client / ssh does not set IP Type-of-service field

2012-10-18 Thread Andreas Wundsam
This is an upstream bug in OpenSSH 5.9p1, that has also been reported
for Debian as bug 671075.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=671075

This is currently broken because a special case in the packet_connection_af
function returns a boolean value
instead of an address family.

I have just tested that the patch attached by Nicolas to the debian
package fixes the problem.

[Bug 1067779] [NEW] missing pam_loginuid.so breaks getlogin()

2012-10-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

getlogin() call in new glibc checks /proc/self/loginuid presence and
trust its value as most safe source (due it's audit-related nature). But
default /etc/pam.d/common-account doesn't contains entry to
pam_loginuid.so which modify /proc/self/loginuid properly. This breaks
getlogin() at many scenarios like this:

(pam session without pam_loginuid)$ perl -e '$t=getlogin; print $t\n;'
root
(pam session without pam_loginuid)$ id
uid=1000(...

just because /proc/self/loginuid contains '0' value

If I add pam_loginuid.so to /etc/pam.d/common-account like
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/precise/man8/pam_loginuid.8.html
recommend, everything worked as expected:

(pam session with pam_loginuid)$ perl -e '$t=getlogin; print $t\n;'

2012-10-18 Thread Steve Langasek
So my proposal incorrect - better add pam_loginuid to ordinary
sessions and leave special sessions untouched.

Yep. This makes it non-trivial to do centrally; needs to be addressed
in the individual services unfortunately.

[Bug 1068145] [NEW] Fix for CVE-2012-3867 (puppet) is too restrictive - TLS certificates now break

2012-10-18 Thread Adam Stokes
Public bug reported:

1. Description of the problem:

On 12.04, for package 'puppet', the fix (contained in version
2.7.11-1ubuntu2.1) for CVE-2012-3867 [1] involves validating TLS
certificate CSR field (Common Name) for “weird” characters. However, the
check is too restrictive and is causing negotiation failure with
legitimately-configured certificates:

===
warning: peer certificate won't be verified in this SSL session
err: Could not request certificate: Certname /c=mlkambi root certificate
authority must not contain unprintable or non-ASCII characters
Exiting; failed to retrieve certificate and waitforcert is disabled
===

Here, puppet is choking on the '/' and maybe the '=' character.

The issue has been confirmed in an upstream bug [2].

2. Ubuntu release, software version, Release Number and Architecture of
the selected components.

Ubuntu 12.04
puppet-2.7.11-1ubuntu2.1

Yes. It was a build argument change. I found where it was done and I'm
checking to verify if there was a reason for it.

[Bug 1067929] Re: maas-region-celeryd connects to the wrong queue.

2012-10-18 Thread Francis J. Lacoste
** Description changed:

+ Symptoms
+
+
+ After install, the MAAS interface displays the following warning:
+
+ The region controller does not know whether any boot images have been
+ imported yet. If this message does not disappear in 5 minutes, there may
+ be a communication problem between the region worker process and the
+ region controller. Check the region worker's logs for signs that it was
+ unable to report to the MAAS API.
+
+ Even after 5 minutes and a reload, the the error persisted.
+
+ DNS configuration is also broken because of this problem.
+
+
+ Root Cause
+ ==
+
maas-region-celeryd connects to 2 queues: ' celery' and 'master'. The
problem is obviously the space in front of 'celery'

start_celery() should use something like that instead:
  command = [
  'celeryd',
  '--logfile=%s' % args.logfile,
  '--schedule=%s' % args.schedule,
  '--loglevel=INFO',
  '--beat',
  '--queues=celery,master',
  ]

  == TEST ==
This fix has been tested on both canonistack and in the lenovo lab.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1067929 ***

I've removed the duplicate because it's actually for a different warning
message. This root cause of this bug was bug #1064638.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1003460
MAAS warns about missing ISOs even after they've been processed

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1067929

[Bug 1068304] [NEW] ssh not using gnome-ssh-askpass

2012-10-18 Thread Ryan Culpepper
Public bug reported:

When I run ssh, it prompts me for my private key's passphrase on the
terminal, not in a separate window. If I run ssh again, it prompts again
at the terminal. (By terminal I really mean an instance of gnome-
terminal.)

I expected the following behavior: When I run ssh the first time for
this particular host, it should prompt for my passphrase in a new
window. When I run ssh again after that, it should succeed without
prompting at all.

If I run env in the terminal, I see values for SSH_AGENT_PID and
SSH_AUTH_SOCK as well as GNOME_KEYRING_CONTROL. If I run ps -ax I see
both ssh-agent and gnome-keyring-daemon running. Finally,
/etc/alternatives/ssh-askpass is linked to /usr/lib/openssh/gnome-ssh-
askpass.

If I run ssh-add explicitly to add the key, it also prompts me for my
password at the terminal, but after that, ssh uses the unlocked key
(that is, it no longer prompts for that key's passphrase).

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 1068383] [NEW] package reconfiguration could ask further configuration details

2012-10-18 Thread Diogo Matsubara
Public bug reported:

Consider the following scenario:
Region controller with 3 interfaces:
eth1: 192.168.21.x
eth2: 192.168.22.x
eth3: 10.98.0.x

Cluster controller with 2 interfaces:
eth0: 192.168.20.x
eth1: 10.98.0.x

When I install the region controller, it autodetects 10.98.0.x (default
route) as the PXE server for the RC. I run dpkg-reconfigure and change
it to 192.168.21.5 which is the correct address

When I install the cluster controller, it asks for the publicly
accessible API of the MAAS server, which is http://10.98.0.90/MAAS

Once the cluster controller is installed, the amqp address sent from the
RC is 192.168.21.5, which is not accessible from the CC.

So, the RC uses DEFAULT_MAAS_URL as the amqp address and if there are
other clusters controllers connected to this MAAS server, they end up
with the wrong address.

Julian suggested that on dpkg-reconfigure more questions could be asked
like the address of the RC pxe server and the webui/api/amqp address.

[Bug 1068405] [NEW] catalina.properties use hard references to /var/lib/tomcat7/

2012-10-18 Thread H.-Dirk Schmitt
Public bug reported:

The file /usr/share/tomcat7/skel/conf/catalina.properties (and also
/etc/tomcat7/catalina.properties) has hard references to
/var/lib/tomcat7/.

If /var/lib/tomcat7/{common,server,shared} contains a jar for one
tomcat7 instance, this leaks to all other installations.

To avoid this problem the property reference ${catalina.base} should be used.
A second tomcat instance can now set $CATALINA_BASE to something else (as
/var/lib/tomcat7).

[Bug 1068433] [NEW] Collecting and plotting the uptime is pointless

2012-10-18 Thread Simon Déziel
Public bug reported:

Collecting and plotting the uptime seems pointless as this gives no
valuable information. Enabling this plugin by default when installing
munin-node will waste resources when polling all nodes and also when
generating graphs. I think the default setup should not enable this
plugin. Of course, this is a wishlist item.

If I missed the point completely and graphing the uptime is useful I'd
like to know why/how.

[Bug 1068036] Re: postfix (precise) has lost the ability to lookup aliases in NIS

2012-10-18 Thread Scott Kitterman
** Description changed:

+ [IMPACT]
+
+ * NIS authentication doesn't work.
+
+ [TESTCASE]
+
+ * With postfix installed do:
+
+ $ postconf -m | grep nis
+
+ If that produces no output, you've reproduced the bug.
+
+ * Install the updated package and repeat. This time is should look
+ like:
+
+ $ postconf -m | grep nis
+ nis
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Nil. It's just re-enabling a build flag for functionality that was
+ previously dropped.
+
+ [Original Bug]
+
on a (freshly installed) system with nis authentication, postfix is no longer
able to read aliases from the nis table mail.aliases.
  in 10.04 it worked

  symptoms are:
  - errors in /var/log/mail.log:
warning: nis:mail.aliases is unavailable. unsupported dictionary type: nis
  - and mail is not forwarded

Obviously some build switch was changed between 10.04 and 12.04.
  In 10.04:
  $ postconf -m | grep nis
  nis

In 12.04 the output is empty.

But still in 12.04 the postfix.postinst skript looks for nis and creates
an appropriate mail.cf entry for lookup in nis:mail.aliases

-
  $ lsb_release -rd

[Bug 1064835] Re: keystoneclient fails on SSL certificates that work for other services

2012-10-18 Thread Sam Morrison
OK I have tracked this down. It looks to me that keystone-client is
unusable with an an https keystone endpoint.

If --os-cacert is not set it will default to an empty string. This then
gets passed down to underlying http classes and it will use the empty
string as the ca path.

What needs to happen is that is this option is not set it needs to be
set as None.

That way httplib will use the default CA path but only if it is None,
None !=  for this checking.

[Bug 1068433] Re: Collecting and plotting the uptime is pointless

2012-10-18 Thread Kenyon Ralph
To me, the usefulness comes from the longer-term graphs (week, month,
year) which show you how stable the system is and the average uptime. It
is also a good check of munin's network connectivity, as any network
problems will appear as obvious breaks in the graph.
