[Bug 1003842] Re: dnsmasq sometimes fails to resolve private names in networks with non-equivalent nameservers

2013-01-14 Thread tombert
I am having similar problems. In order to get DNS to work I need to restart
dnsmasq after boot (manually or via script) in order to get it to resolve
hostnames. DHCP works fine though.
I am on 12.10

thx

[Bug 1033727] Re: USB passthrough doesn't work anymore with qemu-kvm 1.1.1

2013-01-14 Thread Michael Tokarev
Thank you very much Peter for the work you did. That is not of historic
interest, not at all - it is of a good value for Debian users!

And thank you Nikolaus for the testing, as well!

I take your (both of you!) words that the problem is now solved, and am
uploading new release to debian archives right now. At least it didn't
break things for me, -- I tested the resulting build and it works with
my usb devices, there's no immediately visible regression. So hopefully
the bug is now fixed and I'm closing it in Debian.

Thank you again!

[Bug 1098152] [NEW] DNS resolve failed after upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10

2013-01-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 and suddenly I couldn't resolve the host.
The ip and DNS was correct.
The nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf was 127.0.0.1. I changed it to the DNS
directly and all went swell.

I had to install dnsmasq for it to work

[Bug 1099401] [NEW] samba maps guest users to reserved user nobody

2013-01-14 Thread ceg
Public bug reported:

The reserved system user nobody should never be the owner of files.
This ensures that an access granted with the least privileged nobody
user will never be able to access or even corrupt files on the system.
The nobody user may not even be suited for granting public read
access, if it is intended to just run unprivileged local deamons.

Samba however creates files as the nobody user when samba guests are
allowed to create files (e.g. a public share).

Expected:
Samba gets configured to use an appropriate user id for guests that are able to
create files. This may be a samba specific user, e.g. guest user = smbguest
to show the origin of the file, together with guest group = users (to which
all local users should belong, bug #253103). The latter enables all system
users to access/modify/delete the files of smbguest also directly on the
filesystem (without going through samba shares that may have been enabled only
temporarily).

** Affects: samba (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 573919] Re: NIS-based autofs maps don't load on startup

2013-01-14 Thread Daniel Walrond
In reference to LDAP, it probably is the same bug, if you're using
autofs-ldap which is part of the same source package then you can have
you auto.master in LDAP, so you probably don't have openldap running
locally, but require the network to be working before starting autofs to
do ldap queries to find out the auto.master.

I am effected by this problem, restarting the autofs service after the network
is up makes it work, I do not have openldap running locally on client machines
using autofs.

the fix in #569757 will probably not help autofs-ldap users.

[Bug 1057024] Re: kvm kernel module always loaded, without setting /dev/kvm permissions

2013-01-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package qemu-kvm - 1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.6

---
qemu-kvm (1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.6) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * Fix qemu-kvm.upstart: just don't run in a container.  Otherwise we'll
still try to load/unload kernel modules. Also undo the || true after
sysfs writes. Since setting those is a part of configuring qemu-kvm
on the host, failing when they fail makes sense.

qemu-kvm (1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.5) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * add udev to qemu-kvm Depends to ensure that postinst succeeds.
(LP: #1080912)

qemu-kvm (1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.4) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  [ Serge Hallyn ]
  * debian/qemu-kvm.postinst: use udevadm trigger to change /dev/kvm perms as
recommended by Steve Langasek (LP: #1057024)
  * apply debian/patches/nbd-fixes-to-read-only-handling.patch from upstream to
make read-write mount after read-only mount work. (LP: #1077838)

  [ Robert Collins ]
  * Fix upstart job to succeed if ksm settings can't be altered in the same way
other settings are handled. (LP: #1078530)
