[Bug 649189] Re: Samba fails to bind IPv6 on boot

2013-03-27 Thread Jos Zonneveld
I experienced the same bug, when /etc/network/interfaces was configured for
dynamic ip.
After I configured /etc/network/interfaces to static ipv4 address, the problem
was resolved.

So it seems that Samba binds only to local address, before the dhcp client
received a address from the dhcp server.
Maybe there is a upstart event that fires when the network is available?

[Bug 623608] Re: Syslog time it's wrong

2013-03-27 Thread Tom Stocker
This bug is still open after 2 1/2 year We're also affected. tftpd
logs wrong times to syslog (UTC time instead of timezone). It would be
great if someone could resolve this.

I took a look at the other logs, so I can assure it's tftp and not
xinetd, since SSH logs correct time.

Maybe even a upstream (Debian) bug?

Cheers, Tom

[Bug 1161012] [NEW] Clamav package adds proxy to config on install and update

2013-03-27 Thread Patrick Domack
Public bug reported:

The clamav package adds a proxy config to the files when using an apt
caching proxy. Such as using apt-cacher-ng.

Since this proxy is meant strictly for apt only, but is configured for
clamav, freshclaim fails to download updates cause it's not using a real
http proxy. This requires removing the proxy config from clam config
file after each update is installed.

This bug still seems to be present (at least testing with 12.10).

The best workaround seems to be:

1. Set permissions of /root to 0711 in the firstboot script.
2. Reset the permissions of /root to 0700 at the end of the firstboot script.

2013-03-27 Thread Ben Howard
** Description changed:

- Microsoft has asked for all users on Windows Azure to update to the
- 1.3.2 agent. This is a minor change as it changes how logging is done.
+ SRU justification
+
+ Impact : In the case of provisioning failures on Windows Azure,
+ Microsoft looks for the provisioning logs from the instance. Currently
+ the provisioning logs fail do not include enough detail. Due the
+ popularity of the of Ubuntu images, Microsoft has requested that we
+ update the agent code to the 1.3.2 release to capture the logs for
+ failure provisioning.
+
+ Microsoft is asking all users on Windows Azure to upgrade for 1.3.2 and
+ has made it a requirement for partner image updates.
+
+ Test Case :
+ - Create a 12.04, 12.10 Precise instance on Azure
+ - Upgrade to the latest walinuxagent
+ - Reboot
+ - Build new images from -proposed
+ - Boot to make sure it provisions
+
+ User should be able to use 'sudo' to gain administrator's privileges
+ from the user account defined when the instance was created.
+
+ Regression : No regressions are expected. As detailed above, the changes
+ are logging related. Microsoft released this code over a month ago and
+ has done exhaustive testing of the 1.3.2 code. Further, the Ubuntu Azure
+ Cloud Images have been subjected to full cycle testing (building new
+ images with new agent) and upgrade testing.

[Bug 1160336] Re: SOAP Client failed to load entry

2013-03-27 Thread Ron Stewart
We seem to be experiencing the same problem. In our case, it is both the
SoapClient and the SoapServer class which fail to load wsdl files (with
the same error message as above), regardless of where the files are
located on our server. I found a workaround which is allowing the wsdl
files to be loaded, but which may be causing unwanted changes in how our
SOAP objects are delivered.

I changed:

$server = new SoapServer('/path/to/wsfile.wsdl');

to:

$server = new SoapServer(null, array('uri' = '/path/to/wsfile.wsdl'));

For the SoapClient code, I changed:

$client = new SoapClient('https://domain/path/to/wsfile.wsdl');

to:

$client = new SoapClient(null, array('uri' =
'https://domain/path/to/wsfile.wsdl', location =
'https://domain/path/to/wsfile.wsdl'));

This got our client code tests to successfully return SOAP objects, but one of
our customers using existing client side code (which has not been changed) has
been experiencing errors when attempting to parse the objects they are
receiving.

[Bug 1157589] Re: kvm hangs for freebsd guests since raring upgrade

2013-03-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.9 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

2013-03-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug. I suspect that despite the misleading
text, the appropriate answer would have been the first (you are running
a samba server, aka windows file server).

It looks like whatever you did to respond to that made debconf unhappy,
I'm marking this bug as also against debconf.

Could you please let us know exactly how you responded to that question?

If you'd like to get past this upgrade, re-doing the upgrade and
answering I am running a windows file server is your most likely bet.
If that still causes issues, please let us know.

Puppet and chef provisioning is where I ran into it. They do it over SSL,

[Bug 1157332] Re: /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/lxc circular link

2013-03-27 Thread Stéphane Graber
Alright, I figured it out and wrote a patch for it.
Now here's the boring explanation for all that mess.

We introduced the dnsmasq hook in LXC in quantal, then fixed it to use
dpkg-maintscripts as an SRU.
We then subsequently SRUed the whole thing to precise and we pushed the new
version to raring.

That means in short that the migration code needs to fire if the previous
version is:
 - 0.7.5-3ubuntu67 on precise
 - 0.8.0~rc1-4ubuntu39.12.10.2 on quantal
 - 0.8.0~rc1-4ubuntu49 on raring

This means we can't do the obvious thing of putting 0.7.5-3ubuntu67 in
lxc.maintscripts as someone can have a machine with the base quantal
version, then upgrade to raring and not get the migration done. Similar
thing can happen with someone upgrading from an early raring image.

As a result, I think it's best to have the base version for each series
set in lxc.maintscripts as one would expect if it wasn't for the mess we
created with all the SRUs and then have some extra logic in the postinst
to detect the mess created by multiple migrations and fix it all up for
the user.

I'm attaching the suggested patch for this issue, which I tested in a
standard fully-up-to-date-quantal to current-raring update scenario.

[Bug 1157495] Re: 12.04 lxc recipe should include ca-certificates

2013-03-27 Thread Stéphane Graber
If it's an actual requirement for those tools, they should be depending on the
package rather than assume it'll be present.
LXC tries to use just the set of packages that comes from ubuntu-minimal and I
don't think ca-certificates is a good candidate for ubuntu-minimal (I believe
ubuntu-standard pulls it however).

[Bug 1157332] Re: /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/lxc circular link

2013-03-27 Thread Stéphane Graber
** Description changed:

+ = Rational =
+ We pushed a custom dnsmasq hook to precise, quantal and raring over the past
few months to avoid conflicts for people running the dnsmasq system daemon
(non-default).
+ However because we introduced this change as SRU, it's causing problems when
then upgrading to the next release by having the migration code get executed
multiple times.
+ We need to fix this and repare broken systems in the process.
+
+ = Test case =
+ - Install any of the current lxc, libvirt-bin or network-manager on Ubuntu
12.04 or 12.10
+ - Dist-upgrade to the next version of Ubuntu
+ - You'll notice /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/FILE is now a circular link,
/etc/dnsmasq.d/FILE no longer exists and the old content is moved to
/etc/dnsmasq.d-available/FILE.dpkg-new (where FILE is lxc, dnsmasq or
network-manager)
+ - Updating to a fixed package will move everything back into place (assuming
the user hasn't done any local change in between, in which case, nothing will
be done)
+
+ = Regression potential =
+ I have tested the change doing precise - quantal - raring and quantal -
raring and I'm confident the new postinst hook will fix any breakage. It's also
specific enough to only trigger in the specific case we know how to repair. In
all other cases, we keep the system as-is and let the user deal with it. As a
result, it's not impossible that some weird corner cases (for example when
removing/purging the package in between dist-upgrades) may go unfixed but I'm
confident we'll cover at least 99% of the cases with the fix and that this fix
is safe.

[Bug 1095840] Re: No logrotate config for nova.log

2013-03-27 Thread David Wittman
Upon reviewing this, I've realized that /var/log/nova/nova.log is added
to rsyslog as part of our deployment. We'll be handling the rotation of
this file within our configuration management as well. I'll close this
for now.

[Bug 1129029] Re: ACL not respected if an attachment file name contains the € character

2013-03-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
If I could get this to work at all, I wouldn't of course be surprised at
the reported bug. Presumably the demime option simply scans the
filename itself, without decoding it.

Can you verify whether this is the case on raring (or at least quantal
or precise) as well?

[Bug 967410] Re: Windows clients cannot connect to shared printers

2013-03-27 Thread Colin Leavett-Brown
Re #88: Yes, it was working with 3.6.3-2ubuntu2.3 and stopped working
with 3.6.3-2ubuntu2.4. However, the problem has changed. Before the fix
on any version, the shared printer was not visible to the workgroup, but
now they are. And now, when printing from a windows client, I'm getting
the following specific error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote
spool Test Page. I see others complaining of this new (to me) symptom
and so I will follow those bug reports and assume this bug report has
been fixed for me even though I still can't print from a windows client.

Re: [Bug 1159796] Re: package samba 2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 128

Thanks for reporting this bug. I suspect that despite the misleading

To the best of my recollection, I left the selection as the top one as
indicated in the screenprint.

Anyway, I left the system for a few hours and when I returned the screen
was blank. Pressing the shift key woke the system up, but the update
manager windows were blank. I used the applications, system, log out
menu to restart the system. I got the screenprints by running via Remote
Desktop Viewer from a U10.04 system. Mythbuntu left screen capture out
of their install, pity.

I searched the regular Ubuntu forums and found others were having
problems with Update Manager. I had a similar problem in late 2012 with
another update manager run. I have been out of town for about 3 months.

This morning, I used the command line to run apt-get update; apt-get
upgrade; apt-get dist-upgrade as was advised on the regular forum. There
were several updates and no problems noted.

Regards;
John
