This also affects the precise and quantal packaging branches so it's
probably worth fixing it there too.

[Bug 1069570] Re: 1 MAC Address, two IPs - DNS is out of sync with DHCP leases databases, I think...

2013-04-11 Thread Stéphane Graber
I'm declining this for precise and quantal SRU as the fix for this bug
is the addition of a new configuration parameter and parameter number
which is a feature change and therefore not suitable for SRU.

[Bug 1069570] Re: 1 MAC Address, two IPs - DNS is out of sync with DHCP leases databases, I think...

2013-04-11 Thread Dave Walker
@stgraber, whilst I am not happy with the latest debdiff.. I do think
this issue requires closer consideration. This is the only way that has
been determined to resolve multiple IP leases per boot (can consume up
to 3 different ones, with some configurations). This means that pools
are quickly exhausted, which is a real issue in larger deployments.
Therefore, it would seem to be the best way to solve this bug.

Whilst this does introduce a new configuration option, it has a
seemingly low impact - as it doesn't change defaults, nor require
configuration changes to people upgrading - is a well documented change
in the manpage. And importantly, solves a larger bug that has been an
issue for some time.

[Bug 952185] Re: ~/.pam_environment not parsed by default

2013-04-11 Thread Dave Walker
Hello Gunnar, or anyone else affected,

Accepted openssh into precise-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/1:5.9p1-5ubuntu1.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1164475] Re: Missing dependency (libxml2) in raring

2013-04-11 Thread Robie Basak
The libxml 2.9 release notes appear comprehensive and make no mention of
any backwards incompatibilities. bind9 appears to continue functioning
correctly built and linked with libxml 2.9. Upstream don't appear to
have a public bug tracker, but responded to my email quickly, telling me
that 2.9 support has now been added to 9.6-ESV-R9, 9.8.5, 9.9.3 and
9.10.0. So it looks like it is safe to link against libxml 2.9.

No need to forward to Debian, as this doesn't currently affect Debian
and bind9 in Debian will presumably be updated to the latest upstream
when it does.

Debdiff for Ubuntu attached.

[Bug 1167921] [NEW] Feature freeze exception for python juju 0.7 in raring

2013-04-11 Thread Martin Packman
Public bug reported:

The new upstream 0.7 release of juju should be included in raring. This is
required for:
* A number of bug fixes, and features serialisation of hook execution and UUIDs
for environments
* Packaging changes to make the go juju port coinstallable
* Fix to regression in lxc scripts in bug 1130809

The risks associated are low:
* Users commonly install from PPA so this version has had testing throughout
the cycle
* No major changes between 0.6 and 0.7

See the upstream changelog on the release page:
https://launchpad.net/juju/+milestone/0.7

** Affects: juju (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2013-04-11 Thread Dave Walker
Martin, Thanks for your attention to detail - for considering a FFe
request. However, I'm not quite sure anything you have listed in the
bug description requires a FFe. Can you clarify what Features ( not
bug fixes) - this upload would introduce? In addition, is a debdiff
suitable for review?

Thanks.

[Bug 1167921] Re: Feature freeze exception for python juju 0.7 in raring

2013-04-11 Thread Martin Packman
As this is a new major version, seemed worth playing it safe. The main
changes are new features, with potential compatibility concerns, and for
instance the orchestra provider was removed entirely in this release.

There is a review in progress on the packaging updates, once all the
points are addressed there I shall upload a useful debdiff to this bug.

Re: [Bug 509647] Re: [MIR] lxc

2013-04-11 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Seth Arnold (509...@bugs.launchpad.net):
Urgh. sorry for losing track of this bug. I forgot to subscribe after
 submitting my comment.

I believe your proposed additional check would be sufficient. I _think_
better might be to destroy the lock pointer in the shared structure when
freeing the object but before unlocking -- preventing other threads from
acquiring the lock once the free path has started.

Just to help myself think through this,

freer  |   racing get()er
lxc_container_put()
\ lxclock(c-privlock)lxc_container_get()
\ c-numthreads = 0 \ lxclock(c-privlock) - waits
\ lxcunlock \
\ lxc_container_free  \ lxclock() returns
  \ c-numthreads 1 - return
\ \ (free stuff)
\ \ sem_destroy(privlock)

So lxclock() needs to check that sem is not NULL as you said before;
Setting c-privlock = NULL before calling sem_destroy on (a copy of :)
it will help another race - I think that is what you are suggesting
here.

I'm trying to figure out if there is still a possible race with that,
where the get()er dereferences c-privlock, then put()er sets
c-privlock = NULL and sem_destroy()s it, then get()er calls
sem_wait(), resulting in 'undefined behavior' per the man page.

Oh but I'm being silly - once the use count goes to 0 it
cannot go back up, so we can check for that before trying
to take the lock.

2013-04-11 Thread Stéphane Graber
I'm just not convinced that there aren't ways to workaround the issue
that's less invasive than SRUing this change.

Did you consider pattern-matching the client string from iPXE and
setting a 30s lease for those? That should solve your pool exhaustion
problem and is supported syntax from upstream dhcpd.

[Bug 1168030] [NEW] Apache2 with PHP FallbackResource doesn't work when Request-URI is / and encoding is gzip

2013-04-11 Thread Giovanni Lovato
Public bug reported:

Installed packages:
apache2-mpm-prefork (2.2.22-6ubuntu2.2)
libapache2-mod-php5 (5.4.6-1ubuntu1.2)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Allow option override on /var/www
2. Remove /var/www/index.html
3. Create /var/www/index.php with any content (e.g. ?php echo
$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']; ?)
4. Create /var/www/.htaccess with FallbackResource /index.php
5. Go to http://localhost/any - it works, index.php is called
6. Go to http://localhost/ - empty response, something went wrong

Either disabling FallbackResource or gzip encoding solve the issue, so I
assume is the combination of the two to cause the problem.

[Bug 1168030] Re: Apache2 with PHP FallbackResource doesn't work when Request-URI is / and encoding is gzip

2013-04-11 Thread Giovanni Lovato
Having DirectoryIndex index.php on the .htaccess file solves the
issue. It seems the default Apache DirectoryIndex is causing the problem
when index.php is not the first default index document.
