[Bug 986973] Please test proposed package
Hello Jared, or anyone else affected, Accepted facter into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/facter/1.6.5-1ubuntu1.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . This bug was fixed in the package apache2 - 2.4.4-6ubuntu4 --- apache2 (2.4.4-6ubuntu4) saucy; urgency=low * d/apache2-{utils,bin}.install: move apport hook from apache2-utils to apache2-bin. apache2-utils is only suggested by apache2, so may not always be installed by bug reporters. However, apache2-bin will always need to be installed for Apache to be functional, so this is a better place for the apport hook. apache2-bin already Conflicts/Replaces apache2.2-common, so this also fixes (LP: #1199318). * d/apache2.py: adjust apport hook for new location of configuration files in apache2 = 2.4: they have moved from apache2.2-common to apache2. -- Robie Basak robie.ba...@ubuntu.com Wed, 17 Jul 2013 17:54:22 + ** Changed in: apache2 (Ubuntu Saucy) Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1199318 Title: package apache2-utils 2.2.22-6ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/apport/package-hooks/apache2.py', which is also in package apache2.2-common 2.2.22-6ubuntu5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/1199318/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 941874] Re: (fakeraid) root device not activated during boot
I've just installed a HP Microserver (N40L) with the latest installer from precise-updates/main/installer-amd64/20101020ubuntu136.9/images /quantal-netboot. The installer fails to activate the raid, so I had to drop into a shell, write dmraid -ay, to continue the installation. After the install, I have the exact same problem, I'm always dropped into the busybox initramfs shell, write dmraid -ay to activate the raid, and exit, and boot continues as normal. I've solved my problem by adding the line [ -x /sbin/dmraid ] /sbin/dmraid -ay to the end of the /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts /local-top/dmraid as suggested in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/247027/comments/21 But I'm guessing there's a more sophisticated procedure that's not kicking in on my system. What information can I start providing to help get this fixed? (If there's a ubuntu developer interested, I can provide access directly to the box via the ilo device.) linux-image-3.5.0-36-generic #57 precise1 (amd64) dmraid 1.0.0.rc16-4.1ubuntu8 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941874 Title: (fakeraid) root device not activated during boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/941874/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1202758] [NEW] hostname not resolvable on azure
Public bug reported: $ sudo hostname sudo: unable to resolve host smfoo3 smfoo3 I think that this is because we've disabled MonitorHostName in walinuxagent. that code would actually: * get the hostname of the system * monitor every X seconds for changs in the output of 'hostname' * if achange was found, it would bounce the eth0 interface (ifdown eth0; ifup eth0) in order to have dhclient convey the hostname to the server. the odd part of that is that the platform what *gave* us the hostname (inside the ovf-env.xml). it woudl seem like cloud-init should do something like that also. [Bug 1202839] [NEW] qemu-bridge-helper missing from qemu-kvm or elsewhere
Public bug reported: In Qantal the qemu-bridge-helper was in the qemu-kvm package, see http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/amd64/qemu-kvm/filelist In Raring, it does not appear to be in any package, so it seems to be impossible to create a VM attached to a bridge. ** Affects: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1202839 Title: qemu-bridge-helper missing from qemu-kvm or elsewhere To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/1202839/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1202278] Re: bind9 has no rate limit option
Indeed, this looks useful. However, performing the rate limiting in the kernel using firewall rules can be more efficient and not require any BIND patches. There are three mechanisms I can think of for performing this rate limiting today, without waiting for updates: - Insert iptables hashlimit rules. Here is one suggested rule: -p udp --dport 53 -m hashlimit --hashlimit-above 200/sec \ --hashlimit-burst 500 --hashlimit-mode srcip --hashlimit-name DNS-ABUSER \ --hashlimit-htable-size 8192 --hashlimit-htable-max 32768 -j drop_log_dns_abuse (The rule was suggested by joerg jungermann in another context at http://mailman.powerdns.com/pipermail/pdns-users/2012-September/009235.html ) - Use phreld to dynamically insert DROP rules for hosts that bypass limits: http://www.digitalgenesis.com/software/phrel/manual/phreld.html (Sadly, not packaged for Ubuntu.) I know this option is preferred by some commercial DNS hosts. - Use ufw limit to add some quick limits. Since this is intended first and foremost to prevent OpenSSH brute-force connection attempts, the default limits may be too low for applying to DNS. This might still be appropriate for very small installations, however. Your mileage my vary. I hope this helps. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
