[Bug 1243076] [NEW] libapache2-mod-auth-mysql is missing in 13.10 amd64
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I search for libapache2-mod-auth-mysql I get two results listed: a) libapache2-mod-auth-mysql b) libapache2-mod-auth-mysql:i386 When I click on the more information-button next to one of them, it states: Not found. There is no such package »libapache2-mod-auth-mysql« in your current software sources.. (Translated from german.) That might even be the reason the update from 13.04 didn't finished yesterday, because I use/used this package in my apacha2's vhost config. So apaches configure check stumbeld upon invalid configuration, and the installation process stopped. This page btw states that there is such a package: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+package/libapache2-mod-auth-mysql -- lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 13.10 Release:13.10 LC_ALL=C apt-cache policy libapache2-mod-auth-mysql libapache2-mod-auth-mysql: Installed: (none) Candidate: (none) Version table: 4.3.9-13.1ubuntu1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: software-center 13.10-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Oct 22 09:29:26 2013 ExecutablePath: /usr/share/software-center/software-center InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-11-10 (711 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Release amd64 (20110427.1) InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python2.7 MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=de_DE:en PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: software-center UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-21 (0 days ago) ** Affects: mod-auth-mysql (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug saucy -- libapache2-mod-auth-mysql is missing in 13.10 amd64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243076 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mod-auth-mysql in Ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1251939] Re: config*.m4 search path
Hi Stefan, Thank you for explaining this to me. On Sat, Jan 04, 2014 at 07:11:58PM +0100, Stefan Fritsch wrote: You are right, the real fix is not included. We fixed the issue by removing the patches that touch *.m4 files. Therefore, no *.m4 file will be created in the .pc directory. This reminds me that I need to propose the upstream patch for backport to 2.4.8. Maybe we should put the fix into the debian package for 2.4.7-2, too, but there are usually few reasons to patch the m4 files, now that we have moved mpm-itk to its own source package. I'm wondering if there's more of a potential issue in Ubuntu than in Debian here. Our next release will be supported for five years, so I expect that we'll backport a number of as-yet-unknown bug fixes. As we're team based, it could be anybody doing this, and they may be unaware of this issue. So I think I'd prefer to carry the backported fix for this, just so there isn't a mine for a future developer to step on. We prefer to keep our delta against Debian small, so that's a vote from me to have the fix in 2.4.7-2, please. That's assuming that we just need the ignore-quilt-dir patch, or are there any complications with build system regeneration or anything like that? I'll also look to see if I can write a dep8 test that just checks for duplicate module loads. Thank you for your report. This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu. Specifically, error 13 in /usr/sbin/mysqld: Can't create/write to file '/tmp/ibADRj3N' (Errcode: 13) means Permission denied. It appears that /tmp is misconfigured on your system. Specifically, it looks like /var/run/utmp is missing on your system, along with perhaps /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid. I'm not sure how this happened, but I failed to reproduce by just installing mysql-5.5 and cqrlog on a test VM. I certainly see no evidence here that there is a bug in mysql-5.5 in Ubuntu that caused your problem. You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu. If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to your system, include steps to reproduce the bug on a clean system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: mysql-5.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-5.5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264856 Title: package mysql-server-5.5 5.5.34-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocesso script post-installation instalado retornou erro do status de saída 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.5/+bug/1264856/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1266288] Re: cannot install permissions correctly
Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I can see that running check_perms myself does warn of problems on a freshly installed system. Is there a specific problem that you're facing here, or is it just that /usr/lib/mailman/bin/check_perms doesn't like the default packaged permissions? Is there any Debian or Ubuntu specific documentation that tells you to run this command, or could it just be that the upstream-supplied program is not aware of Debian/Ubuntu packaging specifics with respect to permissions? Is the bug here just that the packaging shouldn't supply the check_perms command as it makes no sense to run it on a mailman system provided by packaging? Or, otherwise, can you please provide a test case for actual functionality that appears broken as a result of supposedly broken permissions? ** Changed in: mailman (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mailman in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1266288 Title: cannot install permissions correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailman/+bug/1266288/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1262204] Re: tomact7 installation is confusing the user with home-directy. Tomcat is saying directory will not be created
Thank you for taking the time to file this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The message Not creating home directory is just a consequence of the package postinst using the --no-create-home option to adduser as /usr/share/tomcat7 is provided by packaging. I don't believe that there is any problem with doing this. Do you have a specific problem here apart from the misleading message? Assuming that you're reporting just the misleading message, the best way forward would be to verify that the message is also misleading in tomcat7 in Debian, and then to file a bug there, as Ubuntu is unlikely to diverge from Debian for such a trivial bug. ** Changed in: tomcat7 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat7 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262204 Title: tomact7 installation is confusing the user with home-directy. [Bug 1266381] Re: OpenVPN does not stop IPv6 from leaking data
I don't believe OpenVPN makes any effort to prevent communications through other configured networks; it is designed to allow creating a virtual private network, not provide a mechanism to tunnel all other traffic off the system out of an untrusted network. I do not know if there are any drop-in easy tools to make this happen, but to my knowledge Tor is the closest fit -- and even then, only if you can select a specific exit node of your choosing, would it be relatively close to what I think you're trying to accomplish. You may yet be able to accomplish what you wish with OpenVPN and the 'ip' or 'route' commands, but that's probably best handled at http://askubuntu.com/ instead. [Bug 1266288] Re: cannot install permissions correctly
I have looked at this a bit more deeply, and while all I said in comment 2 is correct, there is another issue. Essentially all the issues reported by check_perms are innocuous and just reflect differences between the Debian way and standard GNU Mailman, these fixes /var/lib/mailman/archives/private bad group (has: www-data, expected list) (fixing) /var/lib/mailman/archives/private/mailman.mbox bad group (has: www-data, expected list) (fixing) /var/lib/mailman/archives/private/mailman bad group (has: www-data, expected list) (fixing) /var/lib/mailman/archives/private/mailman/index.html bad group (has: www-data, expected list) (fixing) will break public archive access. This is because the standard recommended ownership and mode for /var/lib/mailman/archives/private would be drwxrws--- www-data list but the Debian way is drwxrws--- list www-data While this might work, check_perms will change it to drwxrws--- list list which won't allow the web server to access public archives. See the Warning at http://www.list.org/mailman-install/node9.html for more detail. The bottom line is the standard check_perms should not be run against the Debian/Ubuntu package. Debian should either drop check_perms from the package or fix it to follow the Debian way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mailman in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1266288 Title: cannot install permissions correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailman/+bug/1266288/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
