[Bug 1320802] [NEW] samba server crashed but I dont know why ! at pt-system.c:28

2014-05-19 Thread sbela
Public bug reported:

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 20055 (/usr/sbin/smbd).

This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows
the state of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log
files may contain additional information about the problem.

If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the
samba-dbg package, which contains the debugging symbols for the Samba
binaries. Then submit the provided information as a bug report to
Ubuntu by visiting this link:

The original bug report was Please add support for utopic - the log
just happens to be the first problem hit.

This is currently blocking SRU activity into trusty - until juju-core
works on utopic, we can't push an SRU into trusty.

[Bug 1053893] Re: cloud-init should be able to switch off password auth in sshd

2014-05-19 Thread Scott Moser
I think this should be fixed in 0.7.5.
It doesn't do it automatically, but if you want pwauth on, you can just specify:
   ssh_pwauth: True

and it should enable it correctly.

I think i'd rather do require this to be explicitly done (it can be done
in /etc/ cloud/cloud.cfg.d or user-data) than doing it automatically.
Additionally, I don't think that there is a ton of value in disabling
ssh key auth, or in not starting ssh.

I'm going to mark this fix-released based on the above. If you
disagree, feel free to re-open and comment.

[Bug 1318027] Re: Go binaries cannot be stripped

2014-05-19 Thread James Page
If I remember correctly, the stripping on gc built binaries was only
problematic on armhf - the general upstream advice was 'don't strip - it
breaks stuff' so we disabled it.

That was with 1.1 - things may have moved on with 1.2 of golang

[Bug 1320906] [NEW] Bacula init scripts don't stop, status, reload

2014-05-19 Thread Thorsten Kampe
Public bug reported:

service scripts for bacula-director, bacula-sd und bacula-fd don't stop,
reload or give status when the respective daemon is launched on a
different port (directive dirport, sdport, fdport).

The cause is that the start script generates a PID file with the port
number in its name. Despite of that, the stop, reload and status
function of the init script queries for a PID with the default port in
the PID file name:

status_of_proc -p /var/run/bacula/bacula-sd.9103.pid /usr/sbin/bacula-sd

[Bug 832507] Re: console.log grows indefinitely

2014-05-19 Thread Thierry Carrez
@Rob: if we can document relatively-efficient workarounds, yes, that
would make a good OSSN. The fix has been delayed for quite some
releases now, so I'd not hold my breath for juno :)

Yeah, default debian rules for stripping worked fine with gc golang (at

2014-05-19 Thread Richard Sarkis
This also affects in in Ubuntu 14.04, I followed the suggestions in
comment #13.

I replace the line start on runlevel [2345] in /etc/init/tftpd-
hpa.conf with start on (filesystem and net-device-up IFACE!=lo) and
now it starts on boot.

I'm not sure why but I didn't have this problem with Ubuntu 12.04.

Hi Christopher,

The error message you reported:

olcDbDirectory: value #0: invalid path: No such file or directory

is also not the same one this bug is about, and your message doesn't
include enough information to tell what caused it. Would you please file
a separate bug report about that? Make sure to attach the files from
/var/log/dist-upgrade, if apport doesn't include them automatically.
