[Bug 1342574] [NEW] Samba crashing on null path in cleanup_tmp_files

2014-07-16 Thread paul_crane
Public bug reported:

Hi Everyone,

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04, and the samba package from the repos, and am
getting the following panic-action email when the system starts up. I'm
also not able to start samba manually after boot either.

Here's a back-trace:

If I'm interpreting right, the recursive_delete is getting a null path

 Could you try disabling KSM and see if that avoids the issue?

I set KSM_ENABLED=0 in /etc/default/qemu-kvm and restarted the server.

Also today after 3 weeks it started the same thing with Saucy kernel
too.

[Bug 990129] Re: Suspend/Resume hangs and fails - Ubuntu 12.04LTS

2014-07-16 Thread Toby
For those of you looking for a workaround until this bug gets a proper
fix...

The following has worked for me on Ubuntu 14.04 x64 running on an intel
based motherboard (Core i3 2nd gen) with Realtek onboard ethernet

Step 1: Open up a terminal and create a script file as follows:

~~~
gksudo gedit /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd
~~~

Step 2: copy and paste the following code into the file:

~~~
#!/bin/sh
# File: /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd.
TMPLIST=/tmp/ehci-dev-list
case ${1} in
hibernate|suspend)
;;
resume|thaw)
 chvt 1
 chvt 7
;;
esac
~~~

Step 3:
Give the script permission to run by typing the following in the terminal:

~~~
sudo chmod 755 /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd
~~~

NOTE 1: This script was found from this thread:-

demarcate code blocks from the rest of the text.

I've personally not seen it, and noone on my team, who use a lot of
kvm instances, has seen it. Our two current theories are that (a) it
has to do with ksm page migration across numa-nodes, or (b) it has to
do with a race with transparent hugepages versus ksm. For (b) there is
already a commit in Linus' tree (f72e7dcd). For (a), you can probably
test by setting /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/merge_across_nodes to 0. (We are
trying these as well, but as the testcases are not 100% positive
it'd be good to have you try as well)

Thanks for reporting this bug. However, it sounds like running anything
remotely heavyweight during the scans would have the same result, so
this is not a bug in qemu. I've marked it as affecting the kernel, as

 nbd-server.

However very clearly oldstyle = true has been set in the config. This
config is definitely being read, because setting oldstyle = blah gives
an error about invalid boolean.

Looking at source: it seems that glob_flags is not updated until after
parse_cfile has returned:

servers = parse_cfile(config_file_pos, genconf, err);

/* Update global variables with parsed values. This will be
 * removed once we get rid of global configuration variables. */
glob_flags   |= genconf.flags;

However this warning comes from within parse_cfile and based on the
previous glob_flags setting.

if(s.port  !(glob_flags  F_OLDSTYLE)) {
g_warning(A port was specified, but oldstyle exports
were not requested. This may not do what you expect.);
g_warning(Please read 'man 5 nbd-server' and search
for oldstyle for more info);
}

And a process *is* running and listening on port 20001.

[Bug 1342972] [NEW] Sync celery 3.1.12-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-07-16 Thread Jackson Doak
Public bug reported:

Please sync celery 3.1.12-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- Drop issue tracker for doc generation as it adds a build-dep that it
  is not really necessary for this package to build. This allows us to
  MIR celery without MIR'ing the dependency.
Fixed in debian

Changelog entries since current utopic version 3.1.11-1ubuntu1:

celery (3.1.12-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * Drop python-sphinxcontrib.issuetracker from Build-Depends as it is no
longer needed (Closes: #750528).
  * Bump Depends and Build-Depends for kombu to 3.0.19.
  * Add autopkgtest that runs the upstream test suite against the installed
packages.

[Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04

2014-07-16 Thread Jacob van der Meulen
I had the same problem and found out that there is a different behaviour
of the drbd agent between just stop and start the drbd resource or
rebooting the system. When you stop drbd, the drbd module stay loaded so
when you start drbd again, the validity check of the agent correctly
detects an 8.3 module. However when you reboot, no module is loaded yet
so the validity check thinks we have an 8.4 module. Then the agent loads
the module but does not check the validity any more. So it uses the 8.4
tools to create the drbd devices. This fails! Adding a call to the
validity check function just after the module is loaded fixes this
problem. So no need to revert.

I just found this by trial and error so it could have side effects.
Maybe Stefan can confirm that this is really fixing something.

[Bug 1342412] Re: ssh-copy-id hangs when using ControlMaster auto

2014-07-16 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I can see why it would hang on the line you've said - I presume the
client will never see remote software version in this case.

I wonder if a fix would be to have line add -Snone to the ssh call, so
that no control socket is ever used.
