[Bug 1271188] Re: maas-import-ephermerals provides no feedback on progress

Although amd64/trusty is the current priority, downloading based on the
current MaaS default series or allowing to specify the priority
arch/series as an option would be ideal.

[Bug 1329939] Re: Service ssh stop/start/restart hangs

2014-07-26 Thread Axel
Hi,

I have quite the same problem.
Only after a reboot the sshd is running, working and accepting connections.

Whatever I try:
 stop ssh,
 restart ssh,
 start ssh
or with service like:
 service ssh stop/start/restart
or with /etc/init.d/ssh, which isn't doing anything.

the daemon ist (maybe) started, but NOT accepting connections.

the command: start ssh
does NOT return. and ssh ist not started/running.
I have to press ^C, then the the service is started! wtf?!?!
and shows up with:/usr/sbin/sshd -D

but in this state it is not accepting connections.
I tries all combinations and methods.
nothing is working.

funny thing:
when i start it with: start ssh
the command returns, nothing is really started (ps -ef shows nothing)

BUT when i say: service ssh status

this happens:
ssh start/running, process 11633
ssh start/running, process 11633
[1]+ Donestart ssh

now sshd ist started AND accepting connections!
this really is a bug!
its the only way to start/restart the daemon without reboot :(

best regards
 axel

[Bug 1348972] [NEW] When I try connect to server with vsftpd 3.0.2 from new 14.04lts distr i see error : libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work

Public bug reported:

I upgrade my system from 12.04 to 14.04 and when i try connect from ftp client
i see error :
libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work

I use mysql for auth users. This config work from ubuntu 8.04. I only
add small changed for work with new version 3.0.2 like
(allow_writeable_chroot=YES) for example.

I find resolve this problem on the sites:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2218804
http://askubuntu.com/questions/126625/libgcc-s-so-1-must-be-installed-for-pthread-cancel-to-work

I install patched version vsftpd from link (see above) and hold upgrade
in aptitude.

Now work fine.

[Bug 1307265] Re: installation hangs if postgres is not listening on default port

2014-07-26 Thread Ubfan
The Postgresql 9.3 update to Ubuntu 14.04 improperly changed the default
port from 5432 to 5433.

Historically, port 5432 has been the default Postgresql port. Some update in
14.04 of Postgresql to 9.3.4-1 apparently decided to use 5433 as the default
port. This change breaks things because header files like postgresql.conf have
the default,5432, wired into them as both strings and numbers, so while psql
will work on the new default port, existing compiled programs using
ecpg preprocessing fail and recompiling/reinking does not fix the problem
either (because of the header files with the old default).
(Assuming everything was using the default, when no PGPORT environment variable
has been explicitly set).

If you are going to change the port default, you have to do a complete
job of altering all the header files, and at least warn users that the
new Postgresql upgrade may require a recompile/relink of existing
programs.

A workaround to the ecpg programs (and anything else relying on the
headers) is to explicitly set the environment variable PGPORT to 5433,
just as if a non-default port is being used. The whole point of a
default is that's what you get when you don't specify anything. A
better workaround is to edit the 5433 back to 5432 in the
postgresql.conf file, and restart.

The suggested fix is to NOT change the default port from 5432 in the
first place.
