Re: [Bug 1373560] Re: /etc/cron.daily/spamassassin calls sa-update with potentially incorrect umask
I don't recall for sure, but I have 'UMASK 077' in /etc/login.defs and believe the default is 022, so I probably have changed the default. I also have 'USERGROUPS_ENAB yes', resulting in a mask of 007 for the debian-spamd account. In my opinion, amavis's ability to read the ruleset created by sa-update should not rely on the default umask being in effect when sa-update was run. I doubt it uncommon for a user to change that default. Instead, set the umask explicitly before running sa-update so the rules are world readable. If this is safe, i.e., not a security issue, it would not hurt even if someone were to install spamassassin without installing amavisd-new. [Bug 1374166] [NEW] Document ow to add swap space on Azure resource disk
Public bug reported: The process for creating a swap partition on Ubuntu VMs on Azure is not well understood or documented. Most of the documentation on Azure generally refers to using the walinuxagent to manage the swap space on the resource disk (ephemeral disk). However, Ubuntu VMs use cloud-init for managing the resource disk. There may also be two workflows to document as the customer may need to add swap space during provisioning by using CustomData, or after provisioning (I presume using a local cloud-config). ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1374166 Title: Document ow to add swap space on Azure resource disk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1374166/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1374115] [NEW] Allow cloud-config to modify partitioning and mount point of temporary resource disk in Azure

[Bug 1374054] [NEW] no ssh access to commissioning or enlistment
Public bug reported: When a system boots into enlistment, it uses the appropriate ephemeral image, but there is no 'owner' of the system at that point, so no users' ssh keys are imported. It took me 10 hours to figure out what was going on, having to boot repeatedly the machine each time it hanged. The configuration I was using worked perfectly well on 12 LTS and the only change I made to fix the problem after the upgrade is the one I mentioned. The same thing happened on a second machine which was configured similarly. So I concluded that this is a situation that may occurr to others as well and it could save them some time if they knew a solution. I could not find relevant documentation about the parameter passwd_compat except that it appears related to Solaris. I suspect that this is a legacy configuration that has been preserved by our system administrators since the time we were using Sun machines in our network. Possibily this parameter creates some conflicts on release 14 that make it to hang the machine. Someone who knows what passwd_compat does should be able to figure out the cause. To replicate the problem it should be enough to configure nsswitch like this: passwd: compat passwd_compat: ldap After this, try doing add-user and the machine will hang. Thank you. prof. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Is your umask 007 because you changed the system default?
