[Bug 1389305] Re: sudo doesn't work on unprivileged lxc container

I really don't know how to tell you, which Trusty's 64bit minimal cd I
used. I didn't even know that there are more than one.

I just downloaded the fresh minimal cd about week before posting this
bug. When opening the minimal cd in file browser I see no files with
names version, changelog or anything similar. The best I found a
contents of the .disk/mini-info:

Re: [Bug 1389305] Re: sudo doesn't work on unprivileged lxc container

2014-11-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
Ah, the ecryptfs $HOME might be the problem. I haven't tested that
and wouldn't be surprised if ecryptfs prevented the console from
looking ok. Could you try something like:

rm -rf $HOME/.config/lxc $HOME/.local/share/lxc
sudo mkdir /opt/lxc
sudo chown -R $USER /opt/lxc
mkdir /opt/lxc/config /opt/lxc/store
ln -s /opt/lxc/store $HOME/.local/share/lxc
ln -s /opt/lxc/config $HOME/.config/lxc

Then re-try the container create/setup. This will create the
container rootfs on a non-ecryptfs filesystem.

[Bug 1394249] [NEW] lxc package dependencies over-constrained

2014-11-19 Thread Jens Elkner
Public bug reported:

Obviously lxc does NOT depend on dnsmasq-base and thus this dependency
should be lowered to optional or recommended.

Today entities using containers already have proper DNS as well as DHCP
servers and thus do not need at all another point of failure/possible
weak software/redundant aka non-green services like the dnsmasq stuff.

[Bug 1284607] Re: resolvconf ignores given dns-servers in /etc/network/interfaces

2014-11-19 Thread deejoe
I mean of course that resolvconf documentation refers to using dns-
nameservers (not dns-server as I wrote above).

I've added this as affecting dnsmasq-base, too. I think this is, at
least, a documentation bug with regard to the interplay amongst
resolvconf and dnsmasq and their configuration file. I'm not sure if it
belongs to one package or the other, or both, or to yet some third
thing.

[Bug 1393444] Re: machine unit connects to apiserver but stays in agent-state: pending

2014-11-19 Thread JuanJo Ciarlante
This deployment has 2 metal nodes hosting LXC units (machine:
0, 18), then 'juju deploy cs:ubuntu --to lxc:0' does ok, while
'--to lxc:18' was consistently failing as described above.

FYI I've worked around this by removing machine 18 down to
'maas ready' and reacquiring it from juju, now all new LXC
units there behave normally.

IMO still worth digging what state bits left there for that
machine were triggering this issue, copied a juju backup
tarball to ~natefinch in case this is feasible.

 rm -rf $HOME/.config/lxc $HOME/.local/share/lxc
 sudo mkdir /opt/lxc
 sudo chown -R $USER /opt/lxc
 mkdir /opt/lxc/config /opt/lxc/store
 ln -s /opt/lxc/store $HOME/.local/share/lxc
 ln -s /opt/lxc/config $HOME/.config/lxc

Then re-try the container create/setup. This will create the
container rootfs on a non-ecryptfs filesystem.

Yes! That resolved the problem. Thank you!

Would you be able to tell me, why ecryptfs pose a problem for a sudo in
a container?

[Bug 1394327] [NEW] unmapping of persistent grants in qemu

2014-11-19 Thread Xing Lin
Public bug reported:

A patch was discussed in xen-devel mailing list, to deal with unmapping of
persistent grants in qemu for Xen on 12 Nov 2014. This patch is not included in
any stable qemu release (including 2.0.2, 2.1.2 and 2.2.0-rc2 ) yet. The patch
is available here.

[Bug 1386144] Re: juju-core 1.20.11 is not packaged in Ubuntu

2014-11-19 Thread Curtis Hovey
Juju QA certifies that the trusty clients are suitable for local
development and production cloud deploys.

** Description changed:

juju-core 1.20.11 is proposed for release upstream.

We're now in a position to have this enter trusty-proposed and vivid-
proposed, but it should not land in trusty-updates or vivid until
upstream passes QA on our proposed binaries, published 1.20.11 tools in
their stable simplestream and announces the release for general
  production use.

  [SRU Information]

juju-core has a stable release exception in
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/MicroReleaseExceptions,
  including for major version updates.

  [Development Fix]

Full backport of new upstream release. racb will remove the block-
proposed tag when verification has passed, and then this update should
  migrate to vivid.

  [Stable Fix]

Full backport of new upstream release.

  [QA Status]

Since there are multiple verifications required, they are listed here as
a work item whiteboard status type thing rather than try and track them
in a single tag. Please do not mark verification-done or remove block-
proposed until all following items have passed. If any of these items
fail, this bug should be marked verification-failed immediately.

[sinzui] Upsteam QA test against Vivid: DONE
- [sinzui] Upstream QA test against Trusty: TODO
+ [sinzui] Upstream QA test against Trusty: DONE
[sinzui] Upstream release process complete: TODO

  Manual tests required:

[racb] Test juju-quickstart against vivid-proposed: TODO
[racb] Test juju-quickstart against trusty-proposed: TODO

The following stakeholders have expressed an interest in performing
their own tests and we will wait for a (timely) acknowledgement from
them before removing the -proposed blocks. If you also have an interest
in testing new Juju releases before they land in an SRU, then please
  comment in this bug.

[Bug 1394352] [NEW] apparmor: Multiple definitions ... bailing out

2014-11-19 Thread Jens Elkner
Public bug reported:

When one creates a incorrect profile, apparmor_parser seems to leave an
artifact of the problem file in the same directory, which in turn
leads to another error, when the file gets fixed. Not sure, how appamor
stuff works, but this is simply an unacceptable behavior! It should put
its temp. stuff to its own private directory, if it really needs to make
a copy of whatever

E.g.: ( lxc-default == package delivered original)

ls -l /etc/apparmor.d/lxc
total 40
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 506 Nov 19 21:34 lxc-default

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 588 Oct 10 06:53 lxc-default-with-nesting

sudo sed -e '/}/ i\\tmount options (rw, bind),' -i

sudo apparmor_parser -r /etc/apparmor.d/lxc-containers
: AppArmor parser error for /etc/apparmor.d/lxc-containers in

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 479 Nov 19 21:34 lxc-defaulte

# fix it:
sed -e '/mount options/ s,options ,options=,' -i
/etc/apparmor.d/lxc/lxc-default

sudo apparmor_parser -r /etc/apparmor.d/lxc-containers

[Bug 1394388] [NEW] pm-suspend not restoring /sys/power/disk with /bin/dash

2014-11-19 Thread Matthias Ferdinand
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04LTS
pm-utils 1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1

When issuing the pm-suspend command, the scripts set the HIBERNATE_MODE in
/sys/power/disk to suspend.
There is some shell magic to save the previous setting in variable
HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE, but this fails under
the default shell /bin/dash (works correctly with /bin/bash).

Effect: if you use pm-suspend once, the effective HIBERNATE_MODE in
/sys/power/disk stays in suspend, and
any subsequent pm-hibernate will also just do a suspend instead of platform
or shutdown.

** Affects: pm-utils (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: bashism hibernate pm-utils suspend

** Patch added: escape special chars in parameter expansion for

[Bug 1394394] [NEW] pm-suspend-wakeup-hibernate (aka pm-suspend-hybrid before 3.6)

2014-11-19 Thread Matthias Ferdinand
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04LTS
pm-utils 1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1

before kernel 3.6, pm-suspend-hybrid would do suspend/wakeup/hibernate
(with full power-off).

since kernel 3.6, pm-suspend-hybrid will do suspend-to-both (without full
power-off).
The old functionality is not available any more. At times I would prefer using
the old
method, but pm-utils does not offer it anymore.

Attached patch adds back the old functionality, either by
   - setting SUSPEND_HYBRID_MODULE variable to suspend_wakeup_hibernate
in some /etc/pm/config.d- or /etc/pm/pm-suspend.config.d- File
   - invoking /usr/lib/pm-utils/bin/pm-action from a symlink called
pm-suspend-wakeup-hibernate

[Bug 1394403] [NEW] apache 2.4.7 mod_dir bug PR53929

2014-11-19 Thread Matthias Ferdinand
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04LTS x86_64

In apache 2.4.7 there is a bug in mod_dir, in that it does not stop when
the URL has just been rewritten by mod_rewrite.

If you have rewrite rules in .htaccess, ending in a [P] for an external
URL, rule execution should stop and mod_proxy should go and fetch the
given URL. Instead, mod_dir fires another round of rewrite rule checks
as it looks for .../index.html, possibly giving completely different
results (e.g. not fetching from remote site).

http://www.apachelounge.com/Changelog-2.4.html:

  ...
  *) mod_dir: Don't search for a DirectoryIndex or DirectorySlash on a
URL that was just rewritten by mod_rewrite. PR53929. [Eric Covener]
  ...

rewrites-twice-my-url

Please backport the for PR53929
(or update apache package to 2.4.9)

[Bug 1252467] Re: /etc/cron.d/awstats: wrong user for cron job

2014-11-19 Thread Mike Robinson
Either running the cron job as root or allowing www-data to read the
apache log files are bad ideas. Instead you want to create a new user
and add it to the www-data and adm groups and make the cron job execute
as that user. I called mine awstats:

useradd awstats usermod -a -G www-data awstats usermod -a -G adm
awstats

Seems to work like a charm.
