[Bug 1403955] Re: DHCP's Option interface-mtu 9000 is being ignored on bridge interface br0
Presumably this is related to the DHCP client via dhclient and dhclient- script, so presumably should be a task on isc-dhcp? I see code in dhclient-script that sets the MTU based on the DHCP option, but it doesn't have any special behaviour for br0. So I'm wondering if this code is being used at all, or if some other interaction is causing it to fail in this case. Why is br0 being set up to bridge eth0? Is something doing this automatically or is this configuration necessary for something (if so, what?)? Without using br0 and just using plain eth0, does the interface-mtu option work correctly? ** Package changed: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) = isc-dhcp (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1403955 Title: DHCP's Option interface-mtu 9000 is being ignored on bridge interface br0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/1403955/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1342580] Re: tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot
The proposed fix (from #1 as well as the corrected version from #5) does not solve the problem for me. Actually, when I look at what time the system tries to start the tftp-hpa process, it makes it even worse: The process gets started earlier (around ~11s vs ~13s)! [Bug 1389954] Re: Make .lxc domain name resolution easier to discover and enable
This has been discussed before. I definately want to make things work as cleanly as possible out of the box. There are a few problems with doing htis though, 1) networkmanager isn't the only place we'd need to do this (most serious lxc hosts probably don't run networkmanager), 2) if we do this automatically then changes made to /etc/default/lxc-net may start to require more baroque changes elsewhere. We almost want a simple tool to administer all the network bits at this point. [Bug 1407841] [NEW] docker.io package fails install if docker group is pre-existing
Public bug reported: When installing the docker.io package, it fails during installation with a message akin to the following: stderr: addgroup: The group `docker' already exists and is not a system group. Exiting. dpkg: error processing package docker.io (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: docker.io E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) This was originally discovered during charm development where a user can switch from the canonical docker package to the docker maintained package 'lxc-docker'. With the upstream package, they are not maintaining a docker-group in the charm, and allows for installation regardless of the presence of the group. While the docker.io package will halt installation in a panic if it exists - regardless if its a system group or not. Just the presence alone appears to be the key factor in the failure. I don't think this behavior is correct - as a user may have created a docker group themselves, and expect to install the docker.io package from the repository after removing the latest - due to a bug or any number of reasons. [Bug 1389954] Re: Make .lxc domain name resolution easier to discover and enable
Thanks for taking an interest in the issue. [Bug 1407841] Re: docker.io package fails install if docker group is pre-existing
I'm marking this as Opinion. Here's why: The local sysadmin may have created a Docker group, but *not* intended to give the rights to use Docker to those users. Remember, the Docker group is root equivelent. [tag@cassiel:~][⌚ 09:02 PM] ♥ docker run -it --rm -v /./:/mnt debian:unstable chroot /mnt # ls /home tag As such, on conflict, I'd prefer a failure to install.
