[Bug 1403955] Re: DHCP's Option interface-mtu 9000 is being ignored on bridge interface br0

2015-01-05 Thread Robie Basak
Presumably this is related to the DHCP client via dhclient and dhclient-
script, so presumably should be a task on isc-dhcp?

I see code in dhclient-script that sets the MTU based on the DHCP
option, but it doesn't have any special behaviour for br0. So I'm
wondering if this code is being used at all, or if some other
interaction is causing it to fail in this case.

Why is br0 being set up to bridge eth0? Is something doing this
automatically or is this configuration necessary for something (if so,
what?)?

Without using br0 and just using plain eth0, does the interface-mtu
option work correctly?

** Package changed: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) = isc-dhcp (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1342580] Re: tftpd-hpa doesn't start on boot

2015-01-05 Thread falstaff
The proposed fix (from #1 as well as the corrected version from #5) does
not solve the problem for me. Actually, when I look at what time the
system tries to start the tftp-hpa process, it makes it even worse: The
process gets started earlier (around ~11s vs ~13s)! Also, the relevant
errors look somewhat different (IPv6 resolve error). Fwiw, I use
/etc/network/interface to configure eth1 statically.

Default start script
...
Jan 5 14:38:30 testseat2 in.tftpd[1052]: cannot resolve local IPv6 bind
address: ::(Name or service not known)
Jan 5 14:38:30 testseat2 kernel: [ 13.111093] init: tftpd-hpa main process
(1052) terminated with status 66
Jan 5 14:38:30 testseat2 kernel: [ 13.02] init: tftpd-hpa main process
ended, respawning
...

Altered start script:

Jan 5 14:30:59 testseat2 kernel: [ 11.365352] init: tftpd-hpa main process
(708) terminated with status 66
Jan 5 14:30:59 testseat2 kernel: [ 11.365360] init: tftpd-hpa main process

[Bug 1389954] Re: Make .lxc domain name resolution easier to discover and enable

2015-01-05 Thread Serge Hallyn
This has been discussed before. I definately want to make things work
as cleanly as possible out of the box. There are a few problems with
doing htis though, 1) networkmanager isn't the only place we'd need to
do this (most serious lxc hosts probably don't run networkmanager), 2)
if we do this automatically then changes made to /etc/default/lxc-net
may start to require more baroque changes elsewhere. We almost want a
simple tool to administer all the network bits at this point.

Another possiblity is to leave fixing this to lxd.

[Bug 1407818] [NEW] pm-utils reset the vm.dirty_ratio and vm.dirty_background_bytes variables

2015-01-05 Thread Jean-Philippe Guérard
Public bug reported:

On a desktop system, on AC power, pm-utils reset the vm.dirty_ratio and

If this could be fixed in seabios that would be ideal. Discussion of a
second-best solution should probably wait unti lwe're certain that is

Since with respect to this issue we should be in sync with Debian, I'm curious
whether Debian also has this issue.

[Bug 1407841] [NEW] docker.io package fails install if docker group is pre-existing

2015-01-05 Thread Charles Butler
Public bug reported:

When installing the docker.io package, it fails during installation with
a message akin to the following:

stderr: addgroup: The group `docker' already exists and is not a system group.
Exiting.
dpkg: error processing package docker.io (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 docker.io
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

This was originally discovered during charm development where a user can switch
from the canonical docker package to the docker maintained package
'lxc-docker'. With the upstream package, they are not maintaining a
docker-group in the charm, and allows for installation regardless of the
presence of the group. While the docker.io package will halt installation in a
panic if it exists - regardless if its a system group or not. Just the presence
alone appears to be the key factor in the failure.

I don't think this behavior is correct - as a user may have created a
docker group themselves, and expect to install the docker.io package
from the repository after removing the latest - due to a bug or any
number of reasons.

I'm linking the commit to the charm and the user stack trace for
additional validation/investigation if required:

[Bug 1389954] Re: Make .lxc domain name resolution easier to discover and enable

2015-01-05 Thread Forest
Thanks for taking an interest in the issue.

Since I filed this specifically against lxc in Ubuntu, wouldn't it make
sense to start by documenting the necessary config changes (including
NetworkManager's dnsmasq config, since it is part of Ubuntu by default)
in /usr/share/doc/lxc/README?

[Bug 1407841] Re: docker.io package fails install if docker group is pre-existing

2015-01-05 Thread Paul Tagliamonte
I'm marking this as Opinion.

Here's why:

The local sysadmin may have created a Docker group, but *not* intended
to give the rights to use Docker to those users. Remember, the Docker
group is root equivelent.

[tag@cassiel:~][⌚ 09:02 PM] ♥ docker run -it --rm -v /./:/mnt
debian:unstable chroot /mnt
# ls /home
tag

As such, on conflict, I'd prefer a failure to install.

Marking Opinion.

[Bug 1407699] Re: Precise services cannot be deployed

2015-01-05 Thread Ian Booth
As per the cloud init output log in comment #2, on a precise system, if
you do:

apt-get install cloud-image-utils

apt-decides it needs to remove the cloud-init package (amongst others).

Suggested fix along the lines of:

smoser we can fix that with a packaging change to cloud-init in precise.
smoser to depend on cloud-image-utils | cloud-utils

Note that the non-network-manager version of this is currently commented

For now, I've worked around in Juju by not explicitly installing cloud-

ensure that cloud-image-utils is installed.

[Bug 1314058] Re: app_stack.so: undefined symbol: ast_agi_unregister

2015-01-05 Thread Nick Piggott
I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 with Asterisk 11.7.0~dfsg-1ubuntu1 and FreePBX
12.0.25.

app_stack.so will not load at boot, either autoloading or with a
specific load directive in the startup scripts.

I can load it manually by connecting to the asterisk console (sudo
asterisk -r) and then manually typing module load app_stack. It loads
without errors, and operational proceeds as normal.

It's a critical problem for a remote system which is not easily remotely
accessible.
