[Bug 1424233] Re: RFE lxc: lxc should do a better jon of housekeeping containers

2015-03-10 Thread Jens Elkner
Yepp, and that's IMHO a design flaw. E.g. if one wants to distribute the
load on iots storage, it might make sense, to distribute the zones of
several storage devices, e.g. zone1 on JBOD1, zone2 on JBOD2, etc

As said, the only thing, which lxc nees to track is a single config
directory which either contains the symlinks to the real zone
configs OR the real config fails itself - since they usually contain
lxc.rootfs = ..., there is not really a need, to keep it in its original
place.

And last but not least, IMHO LXC should have an interest to make things
easy to manage for the users, otherwise there is no wonder, why everyone
is talking about docker but not about lxc ...

[Bug 1424253] Re: RFE: procps tools should support lxc

2015-03-10 Thread Jens Elkner
Actually that's not the same at all, because $cgroup != $lxc_name . Your
workaround is absolutely user UNfriendly, i.e. still hard to read and
for casual users inconvinient, because one needs supply all that many
format options ...

Anyway, I agree, that these utils should support such things out of the
box, but 'til than, it remains a distribution thing.

$ ps aux | grep postgr - nothing

Did something in postgresql's packaging change drastically with the
vivid release? My guess is that this is all related to the switch to
systemd.

[Bug 1427821] Re: server iso install fails during grub install

2015-03-10 Thread Steve Langasek
In the jenkins automated test at
https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job/vivid-server-amd64-smoke-multi-lvm/, this
error first appears in build 86 on February 19. The test was failing with a
different and unrelated error prior to that; it's not clear to me if this is a
latent issue that was only exposed once an earlier bug was fixed.

[Bug 1248054] Re: dlm package installation fails

2015-03-10 Thread Travis Bean
I already submitted a patch for upstream source code to resolve this
problem, so this bug can be closed. Until the patched binary makes its
way into the mirrors, this is the correct workaround for this problem:

#!/bin/bash
# Install dlm depends.
apt-get -y install daemon
cd /usr/src
# Install source code build depends.
apt-get -y install debhelper devscripts
apt-get -y source dlm
apt-get -y build-dep dlm
cd dlm-*
# Patch for broken init reference.
sed -i s|/etc/rc.d/init.d/functions|/lib/lsb/init-functions| init/dlm.init
debuild -b
cd ..
# Prerequisite Depends for DLM.
dpkg -i libdlm*.deb
dpkg -i dlm_*.deb
rm -rf {libdlm*,dlm*}

I can confirm this issue on Ubuntu Server 14.04 and Samba 4.1.6 with
winbind. I can also confirm replacing winbind with sssd as suggested
in post #20 is an easy workaround. sssd does not have this problem and
all AD groups get enumerated correctly.

[Bug 1409639] Re: juju needs to support systemd for = vivid

2015-03-10 Thread Eric Snow
the last of the patches to add systemd support in juju (including on
vivid) has landed. There are a couple of caveats we need to look into
though:

* vivid LXC containers on non-vivid hosts don't work correctly out of the box.
This has an impact on local provider (I've been testing in a vivid KVM). See
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1347020
* vivid (and later) may be configured to boot with upstart (e.g. after an
upgrade?). We are looking at adding a feature flag to support that use case
(which I expect will be an uncommon one).

PHP is coming in to the stack push function thinking that it is already
initialized (stack_max=64) while its elements pointer is null, so it
segfaults when trying to store a heap segment in its stack.

This may very well be an upstream bug in the PHP SAPI module for Apache.
In this case I think this bug report
(https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=68486) on PHP is highly relevant. It is
said to not be present on Apache 2.2 and is probably related to client
side pipelining of HTTP 1.1 requests.

Regards,
Gerrit

[Bug 1430181] [NEW] rpcbind/rpc.statd listen on all interfaces

2015-03-10 Thread Kurt Huwig
Public bug reported:

There is no way to prevent rpcbind from listening on all interfaces for
TCP connections. The setting -h only applies to UDP connections. There
is a bug and fix from 2007:

https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=84494

The link to the fix gives a 404 for me, but it probably is in their VCS.

How to reproduce:

1. install rpcbind
2. in /etc/default/rpcbind:

OPTIONS=$OPTIONS -h 192.168.255.1

3. restart rpcbind

root@node1 ~ # netstat -lnp | grep rpcbind
tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:111 0.0.0.0:*   LISTEN
8982/rpcbind
tcp6   0  0 :::111  :::*LISTEN
8982/rpcbind
udp0  0 192.168.255.1:111   0.0.0.0:*
8982/rpcbind
udp0  0 127.0.0.1:111   0.0.0.0:*
8982/rpcbind
udp0  0 0.0.0.0:677 0.0.0.0:*
8982/rpcbind
udp6   0  0 ::1:111 :::*
8982/rpcbind
udp6   0  0 :::677  :::*
8982/rpcbind

The same applies to rpc.statd: even when supplying the

-n, --name ipaddr | hostname
  Specifies the bind address used for RPC listener sockets.

option, it still listens on all interfaces, while '--outgoing-port' and
'--port' work as expected:

/etc/default/nfs-common:
STATDOPTS=--name 192.168.255.1 --port 32765 --outgoing-port 32766

root@node1 ~ # netstat -lnp | grep rpc.statd
tcp0  0 0.0.0.0:32765   0.0.0.0:*   LISTEN
8988/rpc.statd
tcp6   0  0 :::32765:::*LISTEN
8988/rpc.statd
udp0  0 0.0.0.0:32765   0.0.0.0:*
8988/rpc.statd
udp0  0 127.0.0.1:684   0.0.0.0:*
8988/rpc.statd
udp6   0  0 :::32765:::*
8988/rpc.statd

[Bug 1413917] Re: [SRU] 0.80.9 point release

2015-03-10 Thread James Page
This is a bugfix release for firefly. It fixes a performance regression
in librbd, an important CRUSH misbehavior (see below), and several RGW
bugs. We have also backported support for flock/fcntl locks to ceph-fuse
and libcephfs.

We recommend that all Firefly users upgrade.

For more detailed information, see
  http://docs.ceph.com/docs/master/_downloads/v0.80.9.txt

Adjusting CRUSH maps

* This point release fixes several issues with CRUSH that trigger
  excessive data migration when adjusting OSD weights. These are most
  obvious when a very small weight change (e.g., a change from 0 to
  .01) triggers a large amount of movement, but the same set of bugs
  can also lead to excessive (though less noticeable) movement in
  other cases.

  However, because the bug may already have affected your cluster,
  fixing it may trigger movement *back* to the more correct location.
  For this reason, you must manually opt-in to the fixed behavior.

  In order to set the new tunable to correct the behavior::

 ceph osd crush set-tunable straw_calc_version 1

  Note that this change will have no immediate effect. However, from
  this point forward, any 'straw' bucket in your CRUSH map that is
  adjusted will get non-buggy internal weights, and that transition
  may trigger some rebalancing.

  You can estimate how much rebalancing will eventually be necessary
  on your cluster with::

 ceph osd getcrushmap -o /tmp/cm
 crushtool -i /tmp/cm --num-rep 3 --test --show-mappings  /tmp/a 21
 crushtool -i /tmp/cm --set-straw-calc-version 1 -o /tmp/cm2
 crushtool -i /tmp/cm2 --reweight -o /tmp/cm2
 crushtool -i /tmp/cm2 --num-rep 3 --test --show-mappings  /tmp/b 21
 wc -l /tmp/a  # num total mappings
 diff -u /tmp/a /tmp/b | grep -c ^+# num changed mappings

   Divide the total number of lines in /tmp/a with the number of lines
   changed. We've found that most clusters are under 10%.

   You can force all of this rebalancing to happen at once with::

 ceph osd crush reweight-all

   Otherwise, it will happen at some unknown point in the future when
   CRUSH weights are next adjusted.
