[Bug 1439280] Re: Libvirt CPU affinity error
This guest XML would be expected to fail if the guest is running on a host that is using qemu w/o kvm acceleration: vcpu placement='static' cpuset='0-1'1/vcpu ...as qemu does not support pinning when kvm isn't available. What's not clear to me is why the Ubuntu version would be adding this line since it sounds like master/kilo-3 is behaving correctly per the spec (only adding these lines where the user explicitly requests direct pinning of CPUs on the image or flavor [1]). Happened to me too when I updated my vivid system after a few weeks again. I still have upstart-bin (1.13.2-0ubuntu9) from before the transition to upstart installed and tried to upgrade it. init-system-helpers has a Replaces/Breaks on the transitioned upstart package but not on the upstart-bin from before the transition. Trying to upgrade upstart-bin first doesn't work as this pulls init-system-helpers too and apt tries to upgrade init-system-helpers before upstart-bin. init-system-helpers should also get a Replaces/Breaks on the old upstart-bin package. I assume upgrades from utopic (which have upstart- bin with files) to vivid are also affected by this. ** Changed in: init-system-helpers (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to init-system-helpers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439988 Title: package init-system-helpers 1.22ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/lib/init/apparmor-profile-load', which is also in package upstart-bin 1.13.2-0ubuntu9 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/init-system-helpers/+bug/1439988/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1392176] Re: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug
Hope had been that the kernel's new support for cpuset.effective_cpus would fix this. Removing a cpu from a parent cgroup or offlining a cpu would remove it from effective_cpus, but not from cpuset.cpus. Apparently that's not the case (kernel 3.19.0-10-generic was used for the test in comment #27) ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: cgmanager (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cgmanager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392176 Title: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cgmanager/+bug/1392176/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1038139] Re: Missing running check on init script
** Description changed: - - SRU Justification: - Impact: 'service haproxy stop' returns 4 if haproxy was already stopped. - Development fix: check whether haproxy is running before trying to kill it - Stable fix: same as development fix - Test Case: - sudo service haproxy start - sudo killall -9 haproxy - sudo service haproxy stop - echo $? - ~= this should print 0, not 4 - sudo service haproxy start - sudo service haproxy stop - ~= make sure this still correctly prints 0. - Regression potential: if done wrongly we could further break the haproxy service stop. - + [Impact] + + 'service haproxy stop' returns 4 if haproxy was already stopped. + + [Test Case] + + sudo service haproxy start + sudo killall -9 haproxy + sudo service haproxy stop + echo $? + ~= this should print 0, not 4 + sudo service haproxy start + sudo service haproxy stop + ~= make sure this still correctly prints 0 + + [Regression Potential] + + if done wrongly we could further break the haproxy service stop. + + [Other Info] + Hi, this is the relevant version information: # lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Release:12.04 dpkg -l haproxy|tail -1 ii haproxy 1.4.18-0ubuntu1 fast and reliable load balancing reverse proxy When I issue a stop to haproxy via the init script, on line 49 it tries to kill the process and returns 4 in case of failure, which then after iis the exit status of the script itself. There are many reasons why stopping a process may fail, one of them is that the process wasn't actually running. In that case, I think the exit status of stop should be 0, since the process is stopped. This caused problems in the following scenario: haproxy governed by pacemaker if the haproxy process stops abruptly for some reason (crash, oom-killer), pacemaker will try to stop and start it again, but it will fail to stop (exit 4, expected 0). To work around this, I added a check on the init script to see if the process was running, see patch attached. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to haproxy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038139 Title: Missing running check on init script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/haproxy/+bug/1038139/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
