[Bug 1475129] Re: HP EliteBook 9480m and others crash when sleeping docked and resuming undocked

2015-07-15 Thread val-s
I had the wrong package selected. But I'm not sure if this is a pm-utils
issue or a kernel issue.

** Package changed: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) = pm-utils (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1475129] Re: HP EliteBook 9480m and others crash when sleeping docked and resuming undocked

2015-07-15 Thread val-s
as a clarification, the 820 has the BT, audio, and camera turned off in
the bios, but the 9480m does not. Those three items are not a variable
in this issue.

[Bug 1475129] [NEW] HP EliteBook 9480m and others crash when sleeping docked and resuming undocked

2015-07-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I've seen this bug on multiple versions of Ubuntu (14.04 and 15.04) and
with multiple hardware (HP EliteBook 9470m, HP EliteBook 9480m, and HP
EliteBook 820). Not surprising since they appear to share a bios core.
They are all running latest BIOS.

Sleep/resume normally works fine, but if I allow it to sleep while in
the docking station, and then I undock it and resume it, it appears to
try to resume, then after half a second or so, it flashes back to POST
screen and boots fresh. It looks to me like the resume operation crashes
somehow and it reboots.

Observations:

It does not matter if there are any monitors pluged into the docking station.
I've tried toggling deep-sleep in bios, no effect.
I've tried toggling USB3 in bios, no effect.

I can't find any indication of a crash or a reason for the reboot in any
of the logs. I added the dmesg from EliteBook 820 because it's the
simpler installation. I have Bluetooth, Camera, and audio turned off in
bios for various reasons. It is also docked in a monitor-less dock (I
use it for charging).

Please let me know what other information I can provide.

[Bug 1449640] Re: package libapache2-mod-php5 5.6.4+dfsg-4ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2015-07-15 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1319595] Re: upstart script ignores some php-fpm.conf parameters, cannot be bypassed in preference of SystemV init script.

2015-07-15 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since we use systemd in Ubuntu now (since 15.04), this bug no longer
applies to the development release so I'm marking it Fix Released.

For upstart-using stable releases that are still supported, I don't
think it's inappropriate to change the upstart script to not use
--nodaemonize in an update automatically recommended to users as that
will change behavior and thus clearly has the potential to regress
users.

In terms of changing to the init.d script, you are welcome to do this by
modifying or deleting the upstart and init.d scripts as appropriate as a
workaround. They are in /etc and so packaging will attempt to preserve
your changes by Debian policy. Given that you have to deleted the
upstart job, it seems reasonable to me that you also have to manually
edit the init.d script to enable it even if upstart is running.

But in any case, we can't fix this in Trusty for all users due to the
regression risk, a workaround is available and the bug no longer applies
with systemd in the development release for the future. Since there is
no longer any work to do on this bug, Fix Released is appropriate.

The PHP Bug #68185 needs to be merged into Ubuntu PHP 5.5.x sources for
14.04.x, as these are technically speaking unusable for working with
traits. For details please have a look on
https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=68185

It has been fixed in the PHP mainline with 5.5.20 / 5.6.4 and been
proven as stable.

I checked the current sources in both, the current stable branch
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/trusty/php5/trusty/view/head:/Zend/zend_compile.c#L4126)
and the development branch
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~noskcaj/ubuntu/trusty/php5/merge/view/head:/Zend/zend_compile.c#L4116)
. Both lacks this simple fix. The bug is quite hard to reproduce, as it
occurs randomly.

[Bug 1443352] [NEW] Incorrect keybinding/key processing (also unable to enter unicode characters) in mysql-client-5.6 (with EditLine wrapper)

2015-07-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb):

After upgrading Ubuntu to 15.04 beta, I have noticed weird behavior of
mysql-client-5.6:

While attempting to go to the start or end of line (using Home and End
keys on my laptop), the desired behavior does not work as expected.
Instead of going to start and/or end of line, a ~ character is
produced.

While attempting to enter Unicode characters (e.g. ěščřžýáíé), these
characters do not appear (the input does exactly nothing) - not even an
invalid character is entered).

Everything works fine on bash shell input, in mc, etc. It also worked fine till
the upgrade of mysql-client package.
The EditLine wrapper is a suspect here. The issue looks very similar to this
one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/percona-server/+bug/631667

Package versions:
# mysql --version
mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.6.23, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using EditLine
wrapper
# mysqld --version
mysqld Ver 5.6.23-1~exp1~ubuntu5 for debian-linux-gnu on x86_64 ((Ubuntu))

Thanks for checking.

[Bug 1472510] Re: Unbound returns SERVFAIL for specific query on dual stacked machine

2015-07-15 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SponsorshipProcess for the processes involved in
checking and getting your patch into 14.04. If you're in a hurry then
you'll need to prepare the uploads yourself and put them forward for
sponsorship. First you need to prepare an upload for Wily to fix the bug
in the development release, then follow the procedure documented on the
SRU page. If you need any help following the process, try #ubuntu-devel
on Freenode. Thanks!

2015-07-15 Thread Robie Basak
14:02 rbasak pitti: could you please take a look at bug 1455097?
Alleged potential issues since systemd no longer uses /etc/pm/sleep.d/
but packages put stuff in there. Do we have the functionality we need
provided for the systemd mechanisms also?

14:10 pitti rbasak: yes, I checked precise's apt-sources manpage,
seems to be there

14:11 pitti rbasak: there is, one can put stuff into /lib/systemd
/system-sleep/, but we don't actually want all the old pm-suspend quirks
any more

14:12 pitti rbasak: so we could check which of the bits are really
still needed, and link them from there

[Bug 1455097] Re: pm-suspend no longer run since upgrade to vivid

2015-07-15 Thread Robie Basak
So I think this should probably be Invalid or Won't Fix for pm-utils if
the new mechanism should be /lib/systemd/system-sleep/, but we should
have bug tasks for each package that used /etc/pm/sleep.d/ and still
expects it to run, so I won't make that change yet.
