[Bug 1483885] Re: [needs-packaging] 1.22.8 is not packaged in trusty

2015-08-11 Thread Curtis Hovey
We do not want this version is wily because bug 1481556 tracks our
request to put 1.24.x into wily, which offers systemd support.

The code change is small. Note that the html test files were removed
from the release tarfile. The tests are not needed, and in older
versions of juju, they were purged because they were ambiguously
licensed. We decided we want consistent rules for creating tarfiles.

** Patch added: source code changes from 1.22.6 to 1.22.8

2015-08-11 Thread Stefan Bader
The fix released is for the development branch (Wily/15.10) which is
using kernel 4.1 currently. Not sure how launchpad decides what use as
summary for the link. The fix looks to be backportable. Might just be a
few iterations to go through the process. Right now I would prepare a
replacement 3.19 HWE kernel for Trusty/14.04 for you to try. I let you
know where to get that from when it is ready.

[Bug 1483615] [NEW] usbhid-ups driver segfaults on discovery of UPS

2015-08-11 Thread davis
Public bug reported:

Reposted from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2290204

Now with full cmdlines, gdb and valgrind sessions attached

I'm installing and hoping to configure NUT on a remote machine attached to an
APC UPS CS-210 via USB.
I've aptitude updated (everything) and installed NUT:

root@barnbox:~# dpkg -l nut-\*
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name Version   Architecture
 Description

un nut-xml nonenone

I've done the very basic-level config of the UPS driver as hinted at
here: http://www.networkupstools.org/docs/man/usbhid-ups.html

root@barnbox:~# tail -n 7 /etc/nut/ups.conf

[apc]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = auto
desc = APC Back-UPS
bus=001 # these lines make no difference to the outcome
vendor=051d

Now, although I can start nut, it can't connect to the usbhid-ups
driver, and I get this error in dmesg:

[ 2128.229552] usbhid-ups[3003]: segfault at 0 ip 7fd96720e48c sp
7ffcaa1e0b78 error 4 in libc-2.19.so[7fd9670cd000+1bb000]

In case it's useful, I have these versions of libusb installed:

root@barnbox:~# dpkg -l libusb\*
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend

and my system version is:

 root@barnbox:~# lsb_release -a ; uname -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID:Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Release:14.04

x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

My aim is to get this machine communicating successfully with the UPS, and
shutting down on power failure. However, I can't even communicate with the UPS:

root@barnbox:~# upsc apc
Init SSL without certificate database
Error: Driver not connected

Does anyone know why or how to start fixing this?

Thanks

[Bug 1442674] Re: sysstat log corruption, time isn't changing

2015-08-11 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I finally noticed that sadc has optional file locking with the -L
flag, so I suspect that will likely fix my problems.

So it turns out that this is a configuration error rather than a bug in
Ubuntu? Marking as Incomplete on that basis. If this is incorrect then
please explain and change the bug status back to New. Thanks!

[Bug 1483093] Re: .archive.ubuntu.com is non inclusive

2015-08-11 Thread Robie Basak
Thanks José.

I wonder if this is something that only occurs when using DNS-based
redirection as opposed to hitting squid-deb-proxy directly by client
proxy configuration? That might explain why this doesn't have any other
reports (as otherwise it seems to me that the package would be
completely broken in the default case).

I just realise now that you haven't stated what version you are using.
14.04 has versions in the updates and backports pockets. Please could
you confirm which version affects you? apport-collect 1483093 will
provide this to the bug automatically.

[Bug 1272788] Re: php5-fpm upstart job is not compatible with precise upstart

2015-08-11 Thread Robie Basak
James, Ruben,

Your concerns are completely valid, but it isn't effective to track them
here as this bug was about the upgrade path which is fixed, so this bug
is marked Fix Released and thus isn't on anyone's radar. I understand
that the fix regressed fpm reload behaviour so we should track this
regression in a separate bug and I don't see a relevant one. If you
can't find one then please could you file one and note that bug number
here?

[Bug 1483606] Re: package nagios3-common 3.5.1-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: le sous-processus script post-installation installé a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 1

2015-08-11 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.
Specifically you appear to have manually deleted /etc/nagios3 so nagios3
cannot be expected to work. Try purging (not just removing)
nagios3-related packages and reinstalling.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1483762] [NEW] [SRU] ship new public cert

2015-08-11 Thread Dustin Kirkland 
Public bug reported:

Pollinate ships entropy.ubuntu.com's public certificate for tighter
security.

This certificate has been updated and pollinate needs to be updated.
The previous certificate is expiring at Thursday, October 15, 2015 at
11:10:53 AM.

[Impact]
Any new 14.04 (Trusty) cloud instance with a down-level version of pollinate
will fail to seed their PRNG from entropy.ubuntu.com, after Thursday, October
15, 2015 at 11:10:53 AM.

[Test Case]
Run:
 $ sudo pollinate -r
to reseed your PRNG. If you have the old version of pollinate, you'll get
certificate errors (See Comment #1), and it will exit non-zero. If you have the
new version (already uploaded to ppa:pollinate/ppa, utopic, trusty-proposed),
it will work again and exit zero (see Comment #2).

[Regression Potential]
Negligible. A single file is updated with a new public SSL certificate for
https://entropy.ubuntu.com, in /etc/pollinate/entropy.ubuntu.com.pem

[Bug 1481337] Re: please update keepalived to version 1.2.17 or higher

2015-08-11 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

In Ubuntu we do not update stable releases with new upstream versions in
order to keep stable releases stable, and keepalived in Ubuntu does not
currently have an exception on this. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for the policy and
rationale.

We can still fix specific issues by backporting their fixes from newer
upstream releases, so I'll turn this bug into one to track the specific
issue you're facing.

We can have a separate bug to track the update of keepalived in the
development release of Ubuntu (currently Wily) to a newer upstream
release, but it doesn't sound like that'll help you since your focus is
currently on 14.04.

** Summary changed:

- please update keepalived to version 1.2.17 or higher
+ keepalived makes a floating IP available on more than one host after
configuration reload

[Bug 1483214] Re: ipmi_si module spams kernel log with ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.

2015-08-11 Thread Stefan Bader
SRU Justtification

Impact: The driver code changed in 3.19 to do periodic checks on irq and
message settings
  commit d9b7e4f717a167610a49ceb9e5969e80146c89a8
ipmi: Periodically check to see if irqs and messages are set right
This causes repeated error messages in the logs for certain BMCs which do not
allow to disable the irq mode in the global config even when they do not
support irqs.

Fix: Cherry-pick upstream commit
1e7d6a45f6b10bc48a1453bca3d829e210546571 which adds a quirk to detect
this situation and avoids touching those bits. This was done in 4.0, so
the only affected kernel is 3.19.

Testcase: With an affected BMC and without the patch, errors repeatedly
get logged. With the patch applied, there will be only a single message
in the log.

[Bug 1442674] Re: sysstat log corruption, time isn't changing

2015-08-11 Thread Dale Harris
Yeah, I think is mostly a misconfiguration on my part. You can't overlap
the execution of those two crontab lines without having problems, even
with the -L flag. I saw some weirdness even with the file locking in
place on some of my systems.

[Bug 1438757] Re: Please update Keepalived version on Ubuntu 14.04 to 1.2.10 (or above)

See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for the policy and
rationale.

If there needs to be an exception then somebody needs to come forward to
drive it.

The version in Wily is on 1.2.13 so already meets your request (though
not in the LTS for reasons above), so I'm marking this bug as Invalid.

17:00 jamespage rbasak, but fine with rejecting it for 14.04 vanilla
17:01 rbasak jamespage: OK. Shall I add a task for cloud-archive?
17:02 jamespage rbasak, nah
17:02 jamespage its baking now
17:02 jamespage it will be for liberty only
17:02 jamespage onwards rather
17:02 rbasak jamespage: ah, so you're doing it already?
17:02 jamespage rbasak, yes - its a point and click process
17:02 rbasak OK. Thanks!
17:02 rbasak I'll update the bug.

So: you'll get it in the cloud archive in Liberty soon, but not in plain
Ubuntu (since that would violate Ubuntu SRU policy).

[Bug 1481337] [NEW] keepalived makes a floating IP available on more than one host after configuration reload

2015-08-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb):

The version in 14.04 is 1:1.2.7-1ubuntu1

There's an issue with reloading the configuration file, where the state
of VRRP gets 'confused' (in lack of a better description), resulting in
a floating IP being available on more than one host.

This issue seems to be fixed in 1.2.17. Since the package hasn't had an
update in over 2 years, I kindly request it to be updated to at least
1.2.17

For more information, see http://www.keepalived.org/changelog.html

Extra info:
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -
About Ubuntu

Description:Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
Release:14.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

1:1.2.7-1ubuntu1

3) What you expected to happen

Keepalived config reloaded without interruption of services. VRRP should
notice VIP being present on one host and do nothing.

4) What happened instead

Keepalived config was reloaded but VRRP decided to activate the VIP on
the host that didn't have it previously. Resulting in routing errors
etc.

[Bug 1272788] Re: php5-fpm upstart job is not compatible with precise upstart

2015-08-11 Thread James Qiang
Hi, Robie

FYI, here is the content in Trusty /etc/init/php5-fpm.conf file,

# Precise upstart does not support reload signal, and thus rejects the
# job. We'd rather start the daemon, instead of forcing users to
# reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/1272788
#
# reload signal USR2

There is another bug report that you participated back in July
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/1242376

I have tested the above solution: adding 'reload signal USR2' in
php5-fpm.override solve the problem.

[Bug 1468897] Re: multipath creates binding for Removable(USB) drives

2015-08-11 Thread Mike Rushton
Updated information. It seems the issue only comes about with USB 3.0
devices. USB 2.0 devices do not get lumped in with multipath upon
detection.

dmesg output from inserting a USB 3.0 device and then a USB 3.0 device.

[Bug 1307445] Re: openstack: instances with multiple nics on the same network don't have deterministic private-addresses

2015-08-11 Thread Edward Hope-Morley
Michael, please see comments in bug 1435283 which iiuc is the same issue
(so essentially a duplicate). Comment #11 explains one possible solution
to the problem. Essentially what we want is for Juju to pick a
port/interface on unit start and remember it (e.g. by uuid) so that if
extra ports/interfaces are added to that unit, the private address
should always be derived from that remembered port/interface. Shout or
ping me in irc (dosaboy) if you want more clarification.

[Bug 1483923] [NEW] dpkg-divert breaks nginx installation

2015-08-11 Thread Benjamin Bach
Public bug reported:

On 14.04, adding a divert for /etc/nginx/nginx.conf would have the
package installation and configuration proceed after installing with
just one error:

Setting up nginx-common (1.4.6-1ubuntu3.3) ...
Processing triggers for ufw (0.34~rc-0ubuntu2) ...
Processing triggers for ureadahead (0.100.0-16) ...
Setting up nginx-core (1.4.6-1ubuntu3.3) ...
cat: /etc/nginx/nginx.conf: No such file or directory
Setting up nginx (1.4.6-1ubuntu3.3) ...

But then after, it would setup the package with the diversion and then
start the nginx service.

On 15.04, nginx is started during an earlier step, failing to configure
nginx and then dropping out in an un-configured state.

Is this an issue with the way that ngnix configures itself or an issue
with running dpkg-divert in the third-party package's preinst script?

[Bug 1483923] Re: dpkg-divert breaks nginx installation

2015-08-11 Thread Benjamin Bach
I'm going to take a wild guess that the issue is because vivid's nginx-
common.postinst has this line:

invoke-rc.d nginx start || exit $?

Which will make postinst fail if nginx fails to start for the first
time.

15.04:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/vivid/nginx/vivid/view/head:/debian/nginx-core.postinst

14.04 did not have this behaviour:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/trusty/nginx/trusty/view/head:/debian/nginx-
common.postinst
