The documentation is quite complete at

package is 4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.9 and not 2:4.1.6+dfsg-

BTW, If you provide the access information about the machine, I will get

Do you already have this package installed? Does it not address this issue?

Yes, multipath-tools 0.4.9-3ubuntu7.4 had been installed on our systems,

[Bug 1485785] [NEW] simplestreams in trusty ignores http 403 when downloading imag

2015-08-17 Thread Mike McCracken
Public bug reported:

a recent bug in the cloud-images service caused the metadata to have an
incorrect path, which meant that simplestreams got a 403 when requesting an
image. However it swallowed that error and apparently uploaded 384 bytes of
something, possibly an error HTML page, as the new image to a user's glance
store, when used as part of the glance-simplestreams-sync charm.

Here's an edited bit of log from http://paste.ubuntu.com/12112343/ (this
snippet starts at line 2303 in there)

First we see they have a real 20150810 image, size=258343424.

[Bug 1485807] [NEW] Fix for CVE-2015-5600 can sometimes erroneously block logins

2015-08-17 Thread Ethan Rahn
Public bug reported:

When testing a fix for CVE-2015-5600 based on the Ubuntu patch in
openssh-5.9 (
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/214490716/openssh_1%3A5.9p1-5ubuntu1.4_1%3A5.9p1-5ubuntu1.6.diff.gz
), I noticed that there was an issue with getting permission denied when
trying to log in lots of times with what should be valid credentials.

The symptom was when logging in with the command and sshd_config below I
would get permission denied sometimes and permission granted other
times. Upon investigating the reason for permission being denied was
sshd erroneously thinking pam had already been used as a login method
on the first attempt to use it. This appeared to be related to the
kbdinit_alloc function in auth2_chall.c not initializing devices_done.
Once I made the following patch the issue went away:

@@ -130,6 +131,7 @@ kbdint_alloc(const char *devs)
kbdintctxt-ctxt = NULL;
kbdintctxt-device = NULL;
kbdintctxt-nreq = 0;
+   kbdintctxt-devices_done = 0;

return kbdintctxt;
 }

Since openssh uses xmalloc ( i.e. malloc or die ) to initialize data
structures, it seems that the issue is the struct not getting zero'ed
out at the start. I haven't taken the time to verify this in openssh-6.9
/ openssh-7.0, but it seems like since xmalloc / malloc is still in use
that it should still fail in the same manner.

These are the ssh command sshd_config that were in use when the issue was
happening. I'm not sure if something about them makes the issue more likely to
happen:

Is anyone else able to see this issue and verify that my fix is correct?

[Bug 1481213] Re: [MIR] python-funcsigs, python-linecache2, python-traceback2

2015-08-17 Thread Michael Terry
I am also troubled by the duplication in main. But since such python
module backports aren't likely to be security sensitive, I'm slightly
mollified. Since Debian and upstreams are starting to embrace the
concept, it seems counterproductive to say just port to python3
instead. Hopefully this will get them on the path to python3.

Though once everyone is ported to python3, they'll now be depending on
all these clone modules. Ideally transitioning to the stdlib wouldn't
be hard at that point.

Anyway. funcsigs looks OK.

[Bug 1484268] Re: MAAS not auto-detecting/auto-entering credentials for HP Proliant ML310E G8 V2 server

2015-08-17 Thread Roderick Smith
Additional information: I deleted the pre-existing maas user on the
server and tried again. This time the enlistment succeeded. I've been
unable to get the bug to recur, even by resetting the maas user's
password to its original value (maas12345). Thus, I suspect there was
something wonky about that user's configuration in the BMC. There may
well be something that MAAS can do to handle such situations better, but
this bug will probably have to be tabled unless/until it can be reliably
reproduced.

[Bug 1485694] [NEW] Keystone raises an exception when it receives incorrectly encoded parameters

2015-08-17 Thread Sean Perry

[Bug 1481931] Please test proposed package

2015-08-17 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Ben, or anyone else affected,

Accepted walinuxagent into trusty-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/2.0.14-0ubuntu1~14.04.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1485719] [NEW] Uninitialized struct field in the fix for CVE-2015-5600 causes random auth failures

2015-08-17 Thread Benn Sundsrud
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 12.04, the fix for CVE-2015-5600[1] just hit upstream in
package openssh-server_5.9p1-5ubuntu1.6, breaking authentication
mechanisms that rely on the keyboard-interactive method. This patch
introduces the field 'devices_done' to the KbdintAuthctxt struct, but
does not initialize the field in the kbdint_alloc() function. On Linux,
this ends up filling that field with junk data. The attached patch
against adds the initialization of the `devices_done` field alongside
the existing initialization code. This has also been reported upstream.

Reproducing:

Install openssh-server_5.9p1-5ubuntu1.6
Add an authentication mechanism that uses the keyboard-interactive method (like
libpam-google-authenticator)
Attempt to log in via the above mechanism. Instead of consistently prompting
the user for input, it will sometimes fall straight through to password auth
because the devices_done bit field is initialized with garbage data.

Downgrading to openssh-server_5.9p1-5ubuntu1.4 solves the issue.

[Bug 1472584] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

  3. Couldn't find package samba=2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.9.
The package version is 4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.9. You can find the
 binaries at:

 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.9/
 +build/7796735

Hi,
Could you tell me how to install the samba packages manually? I found that the
dependency is really complex and many packages are not in the repository(e.g.
package samba-common). If possiable, it's better to tell me how to install it
from 'trusty-proposed' because it will not involve other issue (e.g. the
dependency issue) into this bug. Thanks.

[Bug 1413388] Re: [SRU] upgrade of MAAS removes local config for bind and breaks DNS

2015-08-17 Thread David Lawson
When upgrading from 1.5 to 1.7.6+bzr3376-0ubuntu2~14.04.1 using maas-
region-controller-min it's not clear when we should be running maas-
region-admin edit_named_options --migrate-conflicting-options, should
this be prior to the upgrade? As it was, I had to edit
named.conf.options and remove the forwarders option manually, then
reload rndc, running the migrate-conflicting-options command post-
upgrade resulted in rndc failing to reload because forwarders was
defined in multiple places.

[Bug 1473903] Re: parted will generate two devices when adding one partition on mpath device

2015-08-17 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Actually, this would be more of a partman-multipath issue, but it seems
to me like it would anyway be fixed by partman-multipath 4ubuntu0.1; but
you'll only find this version number from within the installer; looking
at /var/lib/dpkg/status.

Seeing as we didn't make any additional changes which would solve this
similar problem from the *installed system*; I think we probably in fact
still have some work to do here in parted to stop making 'p' partitions
at all.
