[Bug 1472369] Re: lxcbr0 missing after starting lxc-net.service

2015-10-25 Thread Pau Iranzo
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1468611 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1468611

Hi,

I've run into the same problem and haven't found any useful answers so far.
However, doing exactly the opposite explained here:
https://community.flockport.com/topic/25/lxc-net-fails-to-create-bridge-on-ubuntu-server-14-04-1

It works for me.

So, temporary solution:

$ vim /etc/dnsmasq.d/lxc

Comment all lines:

# Tell any system-wide dnsmasq instance to make sure to bind to interfaces
# instead of listening on 0.0.0.0
# WARNING: changes to this file will get lost if lxc is removed.
#bind-interfaces
#except-interface=lxcbr0

So the file ends up doing nothing. After restarting the system, I get my
lxcbr0 back and I can access to my lxc machines again.

[Bug 1509757] [NEW] Can't install samba

Expected: Share a folder through Nautilus and it's available on LAN with
the correct permission settings (read/write).

What happened instead: Samba failed to install

Steps to reproduce:

Try to share a folder using Nautilus. It asks to install samba so
proceed but install gets stuck. It asks if you want to install libpam-
smbpass but all buttons are disabled and install can't proceed.

Alternatively, install using apt-get gives the following output.

[Bug 1509896] [NEW] IPMI USB SCSI endpoint discovery can fail on OpenPower machines

2015-10-25 Thread Jeremy Kerr
Public bug reported:

The current ipmitool code can fail to find an IPMI device on my
OpenPower machine, due to bug in the USB SCSI device discovery process.

This will only happen if the user has adjusted the number of virtual USB
devices that the BMC exports. However, the failure mode isn't obvious,
and it prevents the user from using the 'USB' IPMI channel, which is
required for firmware upgrades.

This is fixed in upstream commit 607cfe6f4, can we backport this to the
Ubuntu ipmitool for versions at 1.8.15 or earlier?

ExecStart=/usr/bin/strace -fvvs1024 -o /run/update-utmp.trace
/lib/systemd/systemd-update-utmp runlevel

2015-10-25 Thread Permalac
I upgraded directly. The option appeared as a default option, since I'm not
used to do upgrades using the GUI I accepted its suggestion, the strange
thing for me was not seeing 15.10 as an option. I though that 15.10 was not
supported and I was ok with that.

Before rebooting I installed the systemd-sysv and init , and with this I
moved on. (reboot command not was available, :) )

I'm upgrading to 15.10 now. Which I guess was not supported coming from
14.04 either.

Regards.

[Bug 1509414] Re: pre-installed lxc in cloud image produces broken lxc (and later lxd) containers

2015-10-25 Thread Stéphane Graber
A pre-start lxc hook with sufficient privileges to start lxc-net would
cover all use cases as far as I can tell and would only require the
addition of two files to the lxc package.

Such a hook would also cover LXD as LXD does exec all LXC hooks, so we
wouldn't even have to mess with those init scripts at all. Just ship
such a hook and have the cloud-images ship with the lxc-net job
disabled. At container startup time, the hook fires and if the job isn't
running, it gets started.

2015-10-25 Thread Stéphane Graber
Such shuffling around as an SRU seems pretty risky to me. Having the
main lxc package be essentially empty except for the systemd postinst
also feels weird.

This would also further complicate things when I then break lxc into lxc
and lxc-common this cycle (lxc-common will include the apparmor profiles
and the binaries that are used by liblxc1).

I agree that this shuffling around is not pretty, but we need a solution
that makes 10.0.0.0/16 routable in cloud images where lxc/lxd are not in
use as had prior to http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/ubuntu-

The current situation conflicts with how clouds are instructing users to

[Bug 1509867] [NEW] docker network connection only working after daemon restart

2015-10-25 Thread Viktor Pal
Public bug reported:

I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 15.10 and realized when I trie to ssh into my
container I get the following error message:
ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer
Sometimes I get this message immediately sometimes it takes longer.

It looks like this using telenet:
#
$ telnet 127.0.0.1 5
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to 127.0.0.1.
Escape character is '^]'.

Connection closed by foreign host.
#
No ssh banner.

This is resolved by restarting the docker daemon and starting the container
again.
This is completely reproducible I just have to restart my desktop and after
the restart start the container and ssh connection always fails and after
restarting the daemon it always succeeds.

Just restarting the container doesn't help, I have to restart the daemon
to solve the problem.

smoser and I had considered creating a new lxc-base (I'm making that
name up) package which is the current lxc without the multi-user.target
wants symlink for lxc, and making lxd depend on that package. Regular
lxc then would add the multiuser.target wants symlink for lxc.

Juju would not regress, regular cloud users would not have lxcbr0 until
they used lxd.

[Bug 1509414] Re: pre-installed lxc in cloud image produces broken lxc (and later lxd) containers

2015-10-25 Thread Robert C Jennings
Séphane,

When this was added to the cloud seed we changed this from "users that
install LXC will loose connectivity to a 10.0.x.0/24 network" to "all
cloud users do not have connectivity to a 10.0.x.0/24 network at boot"
and the cause/effect will not be as clear to an end user. This had come
up in conversation but had not been documented in the bug. So let us
continue to search for a solution like what you have outlined in the
last paragraph of comment #29.
