[Bug 1081952] Re: squid 3.1.19 external_acl_type fail
I think this bug is not valid. The config does not meet the documented requirement that the script interpreter be a *full path* to the sript interpreter, or helper binary. "php" is not the full path to the PHP executable. The helper is also closing its stdin communication socket to Squid before sending any response back. When Squid receives that termination signal, the helper state will be shutdown and ERR used in place of any pending lookups. ** Changed in: squid3 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to squid3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1081952 Title: squid 3.1.19 external_acl_type fail To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid3/+bug/1081952/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1521931] Re: apparmor-profile-load returns 1 if apparmor not installed
** Description changed: + == + [ SRU Justification ] + 1. Impact: users with upstart and without apparmor have init jobs failing to start + 2. Test case: apt-get purge apparmor; apt-get install upstart-sysv; apt-get install rsyslog + rsyslog will fail to start + 3. Regression potential: we only exit 0 at the end of the script - nothing will change + in cases where apparmor is installed. + == + Environment: ubuntu 15.04 with upstart and without apparmor I tried to upgrade my ubuntu image to 15.10 and upgrading breaks on rsyslog: start: Job failed to start i checked dmesg and found this: [ 525.832963] init: rsyslog pre-start process (3078) [ 525.833007] init: rsyslog state changed from pre-starting to pre-start [ 525.834464] init: rsyslog pre-start process (3078) terminated with status 1 [ 525.834639] init: rsyslog goal changed from start to stop so i looked in pre-start: pre-start script /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load usr.sbin.rsyslogd end script and then in /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load: #!/bin/sh [ -x /lib/apparmor/profile-load ] && exec /lib/apparmor/profile-load "$@" in my case where is no "/lib/apparmor/profile-load" file, so this scripts return 1, which breaks pre-start and breaks rsyslog starting I guess that if /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load script checks if file exists, it should return 0 in case then file doesn't exist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to init-system-helpers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521931 Title: apparmor-profile-load returns 1 if apparmor not installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/init-system-helpers/+bug/1521931/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1498637] Re: package libapr1:amd64 1.5.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete. If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: apr (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apr in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1498637 Title: package libapr1:amd64 1.5.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apr/+bug/1498637/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1497263] Re: Unable to negotiate a key exchange method
I really appreciate you're taking some time to answer this. However, there's some confusion here: you're answering in this thread to another issue which is located in another thread (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1522190). My configuration is not the same. could you try to reproduce the new issue with my new settings and answer in the new thread? In the meantime, I'll post more information about sshd_config & ssh_config in the new thread. [Bug 1322431] Re: [needs-packaging] libsnmp-dev: Cannot create snmpv3 user with net-snmp-config command
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. @vgeloven: this is not needs-packaging since a fix for this bug doesn't not need a new package, just a fixed one. So I'm removing the needs- packaging tag. This is presumed fixed in 15.10 since it is on 5.7.3+dfsg-1ubuntu2 and Debian reports it was fixed in 5.7.2.1~dfsg-1, so I'm marking this Fix Released to reflect this. [Bug 1497263] Re: Unable to negotiate a key exchange method
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I cannot reproduce this. My log is below. Could this be a misconfiguration on your system? For example, your lines "debug1: key_load_private_cert: No such file or directory" suggest to me that you are running a non-default configuration. [Bug 1314887] Re: ifupdown hook is missing in upstart script
[Impact] The documentation included in both upstream Open vSwitch (ovs) 2.0.2 and the version distributed by Ubuntu states that it supports configuring ovs using /etc/network/interfaces (see /usr/share/doc/openvswitch- switch/README.Debian). Moreover, /etc/init.d/openvswitch-switch contains the necessary logic to support parsing /etc/network/interfaces but that logic is completely missing in the Upstart /etc/init /openvswitch-switch.conf script. The result of this issue is a user can properly configure their network in /etc/network/interfaces, test it with ifup/ifdown, reboot, and have no network configured with the machine comes back up. If the user is unaware that Upstart is being used and not classic init.d scripts, a manual call using /etc/init.d/openvswitch-switch works as expected. Without boot integration, users can't easily use Open vSwitch to configure their "main" interface and have a system work on boot. The fix in this thread basically adds support for using the normal config files (/etc/network/interfaces and /etc/network/interfaces.d/*) to configure the network on boot. [Test Case] After running `apt-get install -y openvswitch-switch`, add a stanza to /etc/network/interfaces like the following: allow-ovs br0 iface br0 inet static ovs_type OVSBridge address 172.16.0.1 network 255.255.255.0 Try `ifup br0` and `ifdown br0` and notice how the interface is correctly controlled. Try `/etc/init.d/openvswitch-switch restart` and note how the interface comes up. Reboot the machine and note how br0 is not correctly configured. [Regression Potential] This problem is recognized by the user community (see http://www.opencloudblog.com/?p=240, http://blog.scottlowe.org/2012/08/17/installing-kvm-and-open-vswitch-on- ubuntu/, etc) and people have been manually patching their systems for years to get the desired capability. It's conceivable people's odd ways of fixing this problem could conflict with the potential patch. Double ifup'ing or ifdown'ing an interface shouldn't break any systems but error messages may be emitted. The other unlikely issue is that users have interfaces correctly configured in /etc/network/interfaces and are deliberately depending on the interfaces *not* coming up on boot. This patch would cause these boot-dormant interfaces to come up unexpectedly but, again, I think this problem unlikely. [Other Info] This patch aligns the boot behavior both with what's expected and what the documentation states. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openvswitch in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314887 Title: ifupdown hook is missing in upstart script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvswitch/+bug/1314887/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1273462] Re: Users can mistakenly run init.d scripts and cause problems if an equivalent upstart job already exists
In Bug #1521771, I spent some time tracking down different behavior between the mysql-5.5 "init" and "upstart" scripts. They differ on how many seconds are waited between the SIGTERM and SIGKILL signals are sent. Different values can mean the difference between a slower clean shutdown and a shutdown interrupted by a SIGKILL signal. In the case of that of that package, redirecting the "init.d" calls to the upstart script will have a positive impact in my opinion-- giving more time for MySQL to shutdown cleanly. So the proposed patch will be functionally helpful. I do suggest that for any package that's affected by this, the "init.d" script should be cleaned out, so only the code remains that redirects people to the upstart script. There is nothing about this line of code in an "init.d" script which indicates that that all the code below it is about to ignored: . /lib/lsb/init-functions Nor does the proposed patch emit any output that confirms that redirect is happened. The result is that someone could pull their hair out wondering why the "init.d" script is not behaving as expected. Realize that there are packages like "ec2-consistent-snapshot" which exist only in a PPA and make a hardcoded call to "/etc/init.d/mysql". It does that in hopes of working on non-Debian-based systems as well. (The package is also several years old, from an era when init.d scripts were more common). I'm not sure what small projects are supposed to when they want to issue a command like "stop mysql" in a way that might work across SysV init scripts, upstart and systemd. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1273462 Title: Users can mistakenly run init.d scripts and cause problems if an equivalent upstart job already exists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lsb/+bug/1273462/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
Re: [Bug 1521771] Re: init.d.mysql shutdown timeout value does not match init/mysql.conf value
Thanks for the reply. For the mysql-5.6 package, I recommend clearly out the "init.d" script except for the redirect to the "upstart" script. [Bug 1521771] Re: Shutdown timeout values are inconsistent between init.d, upstart and systemd init scripts
We derive the package from Debian, and in Debian multiple init systems are supported. So the package does need to ship all three. In Debian the user could switch between init systems and reboot, and the package and associated service should continue to work. I appreciate that this could be confusing in that you might thing that an init.d script is active when in fact the system is running upstart (or systemd) and so not using it, but that is how the packaging currently works. If that should be changed, it needs to be addressed as part of a larger effort - there is nothing we can do specifically in MySQL packaging to make it less confusing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-5.6 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521771 Title: Shutdown timeout values are inconsistent between init.d, upstart and systemd init scripts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.5/+bug/1521771/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
