Ah, I just realized that you are running Xenial.

The best-supported way to run MAAS at this time is to run it on Trusty.
We won't have a Xenial compatible MAAS release until Xenial itself
releases.

The container root, i.e. the first uid you put in /etc/subuid. If you
grant access to that user (either by making it world +x or adding an
acl as the message says), you should be able to launch a container.

[Bug 1535325] Re: package nginx-core (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso instalado el script post-installation devolvió el código de salida de error 1

2016-01-20 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1432062] Re: multipath-tools-boot: support booting without user_friendly_names on devices with spaces in identifiers

2016-01-20 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
The patch has been applied upstream [1] in a slight different form -- the
debdiff attached here is the backport for Trusty.
The difference is just MAJOR()/MINOR() vs. major()/minor().

Hui,

Thanks for the patches. Your juno update to oslo.messaging is now being
regression tested in the trusty juno-staging PPA. After testing passes
we'll promote it to cloud-archive:juno-proposed, and at that point we'll
also be able to upload the icehouse updates to trusty.

Corey

Oh dear! I mistakenly thought that the change was coming from upstream as there
is no mention in grab-merge's REPORT file of any conflict on debian/rules. I
will revert the changelog entry accordingly.

I definitively will stop to use this tool for merges. Not only it makes my life
miserable by having to systematically revert to pristine source packages for
comparaison, but it seems to silently changes files without any indication.

So far, grab-merge has been a source of problems for me. I had to restart the
rsyslog merge twice because of mismatch and build problems.

I may need your help to get my head around it, but I will give a second look at
your git workflow that I bookmarked earlier.

Indeed, the .ubuntu5 modification that you uploaded got dropped. I was mislead
to believe that it was an upstream change added and not dropped from our part. I
will reintroduce it.

I also added a mention of dropped changes in debian/tests/test-nut.py that are
now superseded upstream but had no mention in the previous changelog.

My changelog mention the following :

* Ubuntu bugs fixed upstream:

  LP: #1405822, #1291378, #1313231

Those are the three bugs that you mention above. I do agree that I should have
carried forward the previous changelog description and state that the bug had
been fixed upstream. I'll carry that change in a new debdiff.

Fixed in the new merge.

Fixed in the new merge.

Fixed in the new merge with your drop of the previous delta.

> - the changes from 2.7.7-1ubuntu5 are restored, as still required.

Yes, already noted in Robie's comment

Regarding the apport hooks, I will treat them in a separate bug.

I hope that everything is correct this time. I will attatch a new
debdiff shortly.

Kind regards,

[Bug 1520979] Re: Grub multiboot is unable to load Xen under EFI

2016-01-20 Thread Jeff Lane
I have seen this issue as well, after being pointed to problems booting
Xen w/ Ubuntu by a colleague.

To recreate this I did the following:

Deployed a server in UEFI mode via MAAS 1.9 using the latest Xenial images from
the MAAS daily image stream.
After deployment, SSH'd to the server and installed xen-hypervisor-4.6-amd64
via apt-get.
Rebooted system after installation of Xen.

The system then attempted to EFI PXE (set to do so by default). It
successfully PXEd and the MAAS server directed it to boot locally. Then
it attempted to boot the Xen Hypervisor and halted at loading the
initial ramdisk.

At that point, the system abended and rebooted. It was completely
unable to boot Xen.

The crash you're hitting is something very different than what valgrind
is finding (though I agree technically valgrind is correct in pointing
this out, and it looks as though some of it is addressed upstream).

That kind of makes me suspicious of the state of the kernel multipath

[Bug 1536181] Re: bind9-resolvconf service doesn't work

2016-01-20 Thread Jonathan Kamens
So sue me, I accidentally typed bind9-resolv.conf instead of
bind9-resolvconf in my bug report. Obviously I would have noticed
systemctl tell me I typed an invalid service if I had actually typed
bind9-resolv.conf in the systemctl commands. I'm not an idiot. The bug
report is correct; I just confirmed that "systemctl restart
bind9-resolvconf" (see, no period this time!) is ineffective.

It's strange that you would hit this error. We should be able to import
is_validator; I can see that formencode has been installed. Can you
paste the output of these commands into the bug (my example output shown
for comparison):

$ python -c "from formencode import validators"
$ python -c "import formencode; print(formencode.__file__)"
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/formencode/__init__.pyc
$ dpkg -S /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/formencode/validators.py
python-formencode: /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/formencode/validators.py
$ dpkg -S $(python -c "import formencode;
print(formencode.__file__.replace('.pyc', '.py'))")

[Bug 1532648] Re: Please merge openldap 2.4.42+dfsg-2 (main) from Debian testing (main)

2016-01-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package openldap - 2.4.42+dfsg-2ubuntu1

---
openldap (2.4.42+dfsg-2ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian testing (LP: #1532648). Remaining changes:
- Enable AppArmor support:
  - d/apparmor-profile: add AppArmor profile
  - d/rules: use dh_apparmor
  - d/control: Build-Depends on dh-apparmor
  - d/slapd.README.Debian: add note about AppArmor
- Enable GSSAPI support:
  - d/patches/gssapi.diff, thanks to Jerry Carter (Likewise):
- Add --with-gssapi support
- Make guess_service_principal() more robust when determining
  principal
  - d/configure.options: Configure with --with-gssapi
  - d/control: Added heimdal-dev as a build depend
- Enable ufw support:
  - d/control: suggest ufw.
  - d/rules: install ufw profile.
  - d/slapd.ufw.profile: add ufw profile.
- Enable nss overlay:
  - d/{patches/nssov-build,rules}: Apply, build and package the
nss overlay.
- d/{rules,slapd.py}: Add apport hook.
- d/slapd.init.ldif: don't set olcRootDN since it's not defined in
either the default DIT nor via an Authn mapping.
- d/slapd.scripts-common:
  - add slapcat_opts to local variables.
  - Remove unused variable new_conf.
  - Fix backup directory naming for multiple reconfiguration.
- d/{slapd.default,slapd.README.Debian}: use the new configuration style.
- d/rules: Enable -DLDAP_CONNECTIONLESS to build CLDAP (UDP) support
in the openldap library, as required by Likewise-Open
- Show distribution in version:
  - d/control: added lsb-release
  - d/patches/fix-ldap-distribution.patch: show distribution in version
  * Drop CVE-2015-6908.patch, included in Debian.
  * Remove DEB_HOST_ARCH from debian/rules: left over from when mdb was
disabled on ppc64el, no longer used, and missed in the previous merge.

openldap (2.4.42+dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Ryan Tandy ]
  * Change explicit Pre-Depends: multiarch-support to ${misc:Pre-Depends}, as
recommended by lintian.
  * Omit slapd, slapd-dbg, and slapd-smbk5pwd from the stage1 build profile.
This allows the dependency loop with heimdal to be broken for
bootstrapping, and the dependency on libperl-dev to be avoided for
cross-building. Thanks Daniel Schepler and Helmut Grohne.
(Closes: #724518)
  * Apply wrap-and-sort to the Build-Depends field.
  * Drop libncurses5-dev from Build-Depends, no longer needed since the ud
tool was removed in OpenLDAP 2.1.4.
  * Drop libltdl3-dev as an alternate Build-Depends, since that package was
removed after lenny.
  * Annotate Build-Depends on perl with :any to allow running the system perl
interpreter during cross builds.
  * Ensure CC is set correctly for cross builds. Thanks Helmut Grohne.
  * Build-Depend on dpkg-dev (>= 1.17.14) and debhelper (>= 9.20141010) for
restriction formula support.
  * Override the 'dev-pkg-without-shlib-symlink' lintian tag. The symlink is
actually in the form libldap_r.so -> libldap_r-2.4.so.xyz and the tag is a
false positive; see #687022.
  * Include the smbk5pwd man page in the slapd-smbk5pwd package.
  * Allow anonymous read access to the shadowLastChange attribute by default,
allowing nss-ldap/nss-ldapd to handle password expiry correctly even when
bound anonymously. This was the only restricted shadow attribute, the
others were already world-readable. (Closes: #669235)
  * Drop the redundant default ACL for dn.base="" from the database entry.
It's already covered by the fallback case below.
  * Copy more comments from the slapd.conf template to slapd.init.ldif. Also
comment the shadowLastChange access rule.
  * Import upstream patch to remove an unnecessary assert(0) that could be
triggered remotely by an unauthenticated user by sending a malformed BER
element. (ITS#8240)

  [ Peter Marschall ]
  * Add a manual page slapo-smbk5pwd.5 and update smbk5pwd's Makefile to
install the new manual page. (Closes: #794998)

openldap (2.4.42+dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Peter Marschall ]
  * slapd.scripts-common:
- Use update_permissions instead of direct calls to chown and chgrp.
- Make variables only used within a function local to that function.
- Restore databases ordered by increasing suffix path length.
This should help configurations with databases glued together using the
'subordinate' keyword / 'olcSubordinate' attribute in slapd's
  configuration.
(Closes: #794996)
  * Install slapo-lastbind.5 man page. (Closes: #794997)

  [ Ryan Tandy ]
  * slapd.scripts-common: Delete an outdated comment.
  * New upstream release.
  * Enable the MDB backend again on GNU/kFreeBSD. The new pthread library
provides all the required interfaces, and the test suite now passes.
Leave it disabled on the Hurd. LMDB requires POSIX semaphores, which have
not yet been implemented.
  * Disable the

These are log warnings, not errors. bind's operation is not affected if
the hints file is not completely up to date, since it picks up the

[Bug 1534792] Re: unable to connect or load identity file

2016-01-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

You seem to be saying that the ssh client on 15.10 cannot read its own
key file? I'm using 15.10 and reading my key file fine. If this bug were
as simple as you describe then I'd expect thousands of bug reports
within days of 15.10's release. Since this isn't the case, it seems
likely to me that this is a local configuration issue on your system. If
you disagree, then please could you provide steps to reproduce the
system on a fresh Ubuntu system?

So since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration
problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as
Incomplete.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

Re: [Bug 1534792] Re: unable to connect or load identity file

2016-01-20 Thread Douglas Sikora
As a canonical employee I find your response rude and insulting if I was a
regular customer (i am in this case) i would feel like that too. I never
said it was all 15.10 systems, I have other 15.10 that did work.

The bug was reported accurate and due to some debugging i did find the
issue is network related as that host did have another managed switch in
its path which evidently is the cause. Moving the 15.10 node to the same
switch as the host node suceeded.I then went on travel and was unable to
update the bug. Ill take responsibility for that.

The errors were captured as output, i was not denied a connection it just
hangs, i sent an strace because i was asked in. IRC canonical channell.

So bug was reported properly, however i do think the error itself does not
accurately reflect the real problem.

If you prefer call me or ping on irc.

[Bug 1533675] Re: ssh X11 forwarding has screen issue with Java applications

2016-01-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It might be worth checking to see if plain remote X (without ssh) is
affected. If it is (I think this is likely), then the bug isn't with ssh
but with either your X client, X server or X configuration, and we
should reassign it so it has a chance of getting attention from a
developer closer to this area.

2016-01-20 Thread Colin Watson
Specifically, the local configuration problem here is in the LSB header
of /etc/init.d/smfpd. This file isn't shipped by Ubuntu, so you will
have to work out how to correct it locally or refer to whoever maintains
the package containing it.

It's unfortunate that this takes out unrelated packages, but that's
insserv for you. :-(

[Bug 1532608] Re: Files moved from clamav-base to clamav-daemon without appropriate Breaks/Replaces, causing upgrade failures

2016-01-20 Thread Robie Basak
Looks like this has happened because trusty-updates/security have a
newer upstream version to which the Breaks/Replaces applies but isn't
declared as a result of this happening after the package version that
declares the Breaks/Replaces, IYSWIM.

2016-01-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

It looks like you're using a version of haproxy from a PPA, rather than
the package shipped with Ubuntu? In this case we can't treat this as a
bug in Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug filed against haproxy in Ubuntu
as Invalid.

[Bug 1536181] [NEW] bind9-resolvconf service doesn't work

2016-01-20 Thread Jonathan Kamens
Public bug reported:

I enabled the bind9-resolvconf service and restarted my system, because
I want to use the named running on localhost as my nameserver.

Even after the restart, however, the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf
(actually /var/run/resolvconf/resolv.conf) were still the ones provided
by DHCP. This, despite the fact that the logs claim that
bind9-resolvconf ran successfully during boot.

I tried manually running "sudo systemctl start bind9-resolv.conf", and
again, the logs claim it ran, but /etc/resolv.conf was unmodified.

Finally, I manually ran "sudo /bin/sh -c 'echo nameserver 127.0.0.1 |
/sbin/resolvconf -a lo.named'", i.e., the command listed in
/lib/systemd/system/bind9-resolv.conf.service, and _that_ successfully
updated /etc/resolv.conf.

After doing that, interestingly, "sudo systemctl stop bind9-resolv.conf"
_also_ doesn't change /etc/resolv.conf, i.e., it still retains the
127.0.0.1 line which I added by running the resolvconf command manually.

[Bug 1533675] Re: ssh X11 forwarding has screen issue with Java applications

2016-01-20 Thread Gian Luca
Hi Robie,
thanks for you answer, I've asked to the sysadmin to make a test and let me
know if X server works fine and he told me that he hasn't verified any kind of
issue, so I think that is something wrong with my Ubuntu installation. I've
made also a test with a virtual installation(Oracle VirtualBox) of Ubuntu 15.04
and I have the same issue. If this bug/issue will be assigned to an X server
developer I'd like to collect any other info about this strange behavior.

Regards,
Gian Luca

[Bug 1534792] Re: unable to connect or load identity file

2016-01-20 Thread Colin Watson
The key_load_public bits are a red herring; it loads id_rsa(.pub)
successfully (you can tell because it says "type 1", not "type -1"), and
the immediately-subsequent error pertains to id_rsa-cert(.pub) instead.
So it's successfully loaded the available identity file.

I think the next steps here should have been:

 * increase debugging to -vvv rather than just -vv (no point in messing about,
might as well have the maximum debugging level)
 * see if there's any useful logging at the server end if you have root access
to it, probably in /var/log/auth.log

However, it seems that the network fix was sufficient? I would say that
a hang is a fairly typical response to a misconfigured network. ssh's
debugging output is primarily intended for developers, and I don't think
we (or upstream) would generally consider it a bug that it may require
reading the source code to determine what it means.

** Summary changed:

- unable to connect or load identity file
+ unable to connect

Thanks Colin and that is a response that makes sense. I sent the stack
trace because i was asked to, i want asked for a vvv.

[Bug 1530303] Re: package clamav-daemon 0.98.7+dfsg-0+deb8u1 failed to install/upgrade: il sottoprocesso installato script di post-installation ha restituito lo stato di errore 1

2016-01-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

Would be nice if it was fixed once for all. This is a critical bug when
your server is in a distant location, and you cannot log on it because
of that bug.
